Alright. SO I just recently bought a 91 SE, great shape for the price BUT it needs ALOT of TLC.
Here are some problems that I encountered, and have yet to fix. Please, any suggestions or ideas please?

1 - Key is stuck, and has been stuck in the transmission. Any ideas besides going to a locksmith, and potentially screwing up the car..
2 - Carpet is stained, moldy, and burnt. I just used oxi-clean and baking soda on it. WAY better than it was originally but any ideas besides replacing all of the carpeting....
3 - Needs new front and rear seats. All of them are cracked, ripped, or just gross. Any ideas besides junk yard? havent called any yet, but no idea what the condition they would be in and how much $$$
4 - Its a hatchback, and in the trunk, it smells moldy as if water has seeped through. I put baking soda, containers of rice, and newspaper to soak up all the moisture. Any ideas of how to remedy this or fix this? New carpeting would be nice too..

As most of you can see, I think that most of these problems can be solved by just going to a local junk yard in CT. However, I havent had the time to look them up, call to see if they have the car, and all of that nonsense....

New nissan owner. New/POS 240. But I am willing to make this my new project and give it a shot, any ideas are appreciated..please&thank you.

re lock: have you pressed release button? if it is auto or has been auto in past, there is a small lever you can switch.
otherwise, get a new lock from rock auto. $99 under ignition. i think auto and manual are same

2. For the stains and mold, you can rent one of those rug doctor carpet cleaners. Check youtube for videos of owners washing their car with it.

3. Junk yard and classifieds such as craigslist. If you see a good price on s14 front seats, then you can get those instead. They bolt right on with no mods needed.

4. Common problem, so search for leaky trunk or hatches on this forum.

For #2 and #4 id say take all the carpet out to clean it. Its also i good time to check for rust as all 240s are pretty famous for it. I cleaned mine with a carpet cleaner but i didnt have tons of stains. #3 id say go s14 seats. They arent terrible price wise and they will fit in both the front and the back. There is a write up on nico about how to make it work in the back. And as was stated before me the front ones go right in. They also make the entire car feel and look alot better.
