Thanks Driftboy! So today i spent almost a whole day taking apart my boys KA to change the timing chain amd let me tell you, its a B***H to work on those motors compared to our SR's man. It took me and him like 3 hours to take the intake mani off!!! we left from there with the intake mani and exh mani off and still need to take the head off and then we can take of the chain, oh wait still gotta raise the motor a bit to take the oil pan off! Man i can take off my intake mani in like not even an hour and it was so long for the KA. If anyone is KA and could go SR but thinking if just should do a KA-T go SR!!!!No dought, KA-T is sweet too, but SR is sooo much easier to wokr on it, no joke...
Just get an RB, their much easier to work on You'll always need 6 of everything opposed to 4Cyl , J/K

And no Altima Head is different so are the cams, or at least one of the cams. Since it's FWD, distributor is on the back of the head towards the very top driven of off cam. 240sx distri.... is driven off of the idler gear or accessory gear (what ever it's called) anyway the gear that connects cams to crank, where it goes from single chain to double chain.

You might try Frontier since its RWD, think cams might be different. Since most pick-up trucks are setup for torque at low RPM's, so they can hall $hit around.

I have a '95 ka24de, that I might rebuild and sell. And also my original '90 ka24e, that still is runing strong that I might sell also.

What shop do you use to do engine and machine work at? Are they any good or reliable?

Are Rb's easy to work on? lol And thats what i thought about the altima head. The shop I use for machine work is (WINDY CITY ENGINEERING INC. 3244 W 30TH ST CHICAGO IL 60623) (773) 254 8113....

I took my head/block from the SR and my boys KA head and then my other boy took his SR head to them. Oh and i told tEknoS13 form here about it and he took my work for it and took his head to them, his got pix on his thread zer...age=4 check it out, it came out nice. The only thing that i did was told them not to paint my block/head afler its washed cause they paint it like silver color, and I gave em the torque specs when they were putting together the bottom end for me.

Damn, I would buy it in a hearbeat but the history of it is what I want to know. Is there any way you can determine its a s15 HLSD? I mean you did say its in a s13 pumkin, so it might be hard to tell...

i know for sure that its a s15 HLSD i took it out at work and cleaned it nicely, resealed the cover and the output shafts are s15 for sure too... I researched about this before i bought it too. But i understand that the history of this is important to you and no problem if you wont buy it..
