Well, guy's I started looking for a board on Datsun. See my buddy just got a hell of a trade worked out for this crazy 71 Datsun 1600 pick up. That sucker's got a GM 307 in it right now. In less than a week, it'll already be packing a 400 SBC. NASTY!! And this thing is clean. You'll see the pix now. Well, before you can get something to go fast you better make sure it can stop. LOL! So he asked me to help him find some disc brake's. "His computer skill's are limited" Well, I've searched high and low for these thing's and nothing. Maybe someone on here can help, maybe with part's or info on of car parts we can use.

Some pix for you Datsun fan's out there

Ford 8'', it's going spool next weekend.

Yes guy's it's a sleeper. The pipe's are coming out and big fat muffler's are going in with turn down's. I would really hate to be in a new Vette or Stang and have that little bugger past me. LOL!

it's not easy making BIG power out of the L...it's a hell of a lot cheaper to do it with a SB Chevy anyway.

as far as brakes go...it's probably gonna be a lot of fabricating...we did have a thread in Datsun forum were a cat was using Isuzu parts to fit disc brakes onto his 521

I understand that completely...I'm just not a fan of doing those types of swaps into older datsuns (or pretty much any Nissan for that matter).

My philosophy is if you want a quick little car buy a Chevette or an S-10 and do the same swap.

But thats just me.

And I saw that thread about the Isuzu parts on the 521. Shouldn't be too hard to find...I think it was bumped up not too long ago and I KNOW there is a link to it in nsrZ32's Datsun truck thread here in GenChat.

EDIT: Here are the links. The 1st one is nsrZ32's thread and the second is the 521 with the Isuzu parts.

nsrZ32's 521

makibaka's 521 with Isuzu rear discs

PBfrEAk, I understand were your coming from. I for one am a serious GM fan, s even when I see people dropping Ford rear's into there Chevy's it get's me ticked. But look this old man with this Datsun is cool people, he's aways built some crazy $&^&T, but this he didn't cut up. He just trade a guy for it, just the way you see it. He's only had it a week now. Maybe you could say to hell with they guy who did cut it up. LOL! It is a shame, I couldn't find one spot on that truck of rust, not one. I even had a small magnet to see if I find bondo, and everything stuck. BTW, thanks for the link.

What do you guy's think about this? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...19600

I just finish finding that on Ebay.

Sorry I didn't mean to cut you down like that. Its a beautiful truck.

I didn't realize you bought it like that!!

I mean even if you didn't...I guess I'm just a little irked from when I went to look at a 260z at a local dealer and it was clean as a whistle but the guy swapped in a small block Chevy.

Its a great looking truck and I'm sure she runs good.

I just have to keep in mind that each person has their own taste's (not meaning it towards you...just in general.)

Welcome and nice find!!

Very clean truck! I'd Drive the snot out of it with a SBC or BBC. It would be nice to see a full tilt L-series in it but I like it either way. What did you trade for it?

PBfrEAk, I didn't take offense to it homie. I truly understand were your coming from.

LEMHEAD16, it's not mine it belong's to a buddy of mine. He's not to good with computer, he's around 50 or so. The guy's a trip, I just hope when I get to that age I'm still of life like him. As for the trade, he trade a Dale Earnhart JR edition Monte Carlo like a 94 or something in that year range. The story is that the old owner of the truck, has a son that just got his License. He needed a car for his boy, but was scarred that he would kill him self in this truck. So he traded straight up for it. That's a smart man, I couldn't count how many time's I've heard of kid's dyeing in fast car's. Lack of experience will get you.

I don't much care for seeing mutt cars either..I'd prefer the Ford rear end be left in something deserving of it

as for trading one of the crappy fwd Monte's for it...freakin' jackpot.

that truck has a nice straight body. the swap doesn't look bad in it...can you get some more close ups under the hood?

a little more time cleaning up under the hood and getting suitable stopping power on it...

here's another member's 521 build thread...who also did a brake upgrade.

Mr1der, the truck is getting a real dirty 400 small block it should be in by next weekend. I'll keep you guy's post.

At first I thought he was nuts for trading the Monty for this Datsun, but I didn't know any better. But after I seen it in person. OHFG!! That thing was bad. Plus I found this little truck up for grab's on EPAY and now I know it was a steal

Here's the link. This isn't my listing http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...18523

Dump the chevy crap and put a 5.0 in it.5.0's are the cheapest motors to build and are reliable to 600hp on stock internals.if you wanted to be real spendy stroke a 351w out to a 408 and put a fat cam in it.You'll be breaking tires loose from 3-4 shifts at 60mph

Very very clean 521. I love it minus the motor swap.
