230 miles per gallon?Scandinavian Flick wrote:im 90% sure there is a 20 gallon gas tank on the coupe... at 230 miles per gallon which equates to 11.5mpg... so yeah... id ease up on the right foot.....
20 gallon tank so 230/20=11.5mpg. Not good at all. Take it to the dealer. There is absolutely no way you can be getting that bad mileage. Everytime you bring it back, record the time/date/who you talked to/what they said. You may have a lemon.hydro94530 wrote:Hi all, alright, reporting back here on the whole gas thing. So I'm getting about 180 out of the tank before the low gas warning comes. Weird thing is this time, is that I still had 5 gallons left when it came on, so that is strange to me. However, with that said, it looks like I'm getting about 230-ish miles per tank. Does that sound right to you guys with me living in the city and whatnot, or should I maybe bring it in to the dealer? Thanks in advance.
Damn it, alright thanks guys. I'll keep you posted. The car seems to run fine and there's no leaks that I can see. But yeah, I'll bring it in and let you guys know what they say. I was hoping to hear it was all these hills and stoplights in S.F that are causing itmaxentropy wrote:

Good luck and keep us posted!
I actually had 5 in reserve the last time I got the warning light, and I actually continued driving until the miles left read as "-----". so that's weird too. When I get my oil change done, hopefully they'll tell me everything is cool. At least any repairs needed will be free.adidas2go wrote:You can't divide that number by 20. When you get to "E", you still have 3 gallons in reserve. So divide it by the 17 gallons you actually used to get to "E". You're still only getting 14.5 mpg. A bit low. I usually average around 15.8 in mine.
That's what I mean, when I got it to that point and filled it back up, I only had to put in 15 gallons worth, meaning there were 5 left. Starting to think maybe an instrument malfunction maybe.adidas2go wrote:When you have --- across the miles left to empty reading, you have 3 gallons left.
Thanks maxentropy, that's a great article. I think I need to slow my *** down. Seems that's the biggest gas waster. I always accelerate pretty aggressively out of intersections.maxentropy wrote:Article by Edmunds.com - "What Really Saves Gas? And How Much?"http://www.edmunds.com/advice/....html
Just wanted to point out that the A/C doesn't kill your mpg as much as people assume. Also, that link has some great ways to improve your mpg and would definitely be worth a read.
If you are around 14mpg or higher, that sounds about right for inner city slow- stop and go traffic. I get 25mpg on all highway (just drove to upstate NY and back) and 21mpg half highway half suburbia near home. I can imagine inner city you'd be looking at 14-18mpg, especially on those INSANE San Fran hills!
