i've managed to get it to 118, but never again. car is too unstable at those speeds even with aftermarket wheels and tires.

Since the 2.5 tires are rated at 114 mph (they're T rated), Nissan took the liberty of not letting you kill yourself with a blown out tire. The 3.5 is goverened around 145 IIRC. As of now there is nothing out there that can remove the limiter.

I've hit 130 on some west Texas highways and not even realize it (3.5 SE, eibach springs, stock wheels and tires). Car was perfectly stable.

its all about the tires. 3.5 SLs are also limited to 115 mph because of continentals. been there and found it!

negative on downhill, no clue about tailwind. but what could have effected it is my tire size is 4.2% larger in diameter then oem. speedo was staying somewhere between 110 and 115, while my gps said i was traveling at 118. and yes, i have 2.5 with pos suspension.

I hit ~120 mph and it was just cruising and perfectly stable. I'm not sure if it would go any faster, but I'm thinking it either did or was about to hit the governor...

the most i could hit is 110 mph. not even that. I think nissan did a very bad job. in putting all this stupid sensors and crap like that. 2.5 doesnt even have a TCS off button

Nissan puts all the dumb sensors and governors on to prevent people from doing stupid things. Running at Z rated speeds on T rated tires is one of them.

...that would be because the 2.5 doesn't have TCS...

well. I know it should be up to me to decide whether to turn off or on my TCS. or to have the governor or not. it just takes away the performance out of the car. but wuts the point talking about things that are done.

I think you missed the point at which I said you don't have TCS....no 2.5 has it.

The hybrid is more like the 3.5 than the 2.5 in terms of features.

You have ABS. It's a federal law.

Well I a can attest for the Altima 3.5 6MT that it can do at least 149mph before the limiter kicks in. I did this last weekend in Utah at a UtahNissans meet while trying to keep up with a GTR and some 300zx that was pushing 600whp. the car was at 5300rpms.. and it felt very stable at those speeds.

thinking about this, you probably need a n ECU reader and program editor. The ecu is programmed a certain way and there has to be a way of editing it. Might be worth a shot to talk to one of the mechanics at the dealership that specializes in electronics. just an idea
