I have a 90 240 auto Ka24e motor. I changed the head gasket and the timing chain put it all back together and now it seems to Idle ok but I tried taking it up the road and it has no power it might do 10mph if I'm lucky. Every thing is right I got the motor tdc the cam nub is at 12oclock and the dist. is on the #1 plug the two dots were at the colored link when I put them on so all thats good and its on the comp. stroke. It idles about 1000 after i messed with the IACV and got it to run ok. but like i said i took it out to test drive and it won't GO it might do about 10 or 15 mph. Please help my DD got to give my sisters car back very soon.

Did you set the electrical timing properly?

Did you set the mechanical timing properly?

Is it running on all 4 cylinders? If you messed up the firing order you may be running on 2 cylinders, the engine will seem to idle smoothly, but it will have no power.

Is your exhaust restricted.

Have you checked manifold vacuu?

As far as timing the dist. was pointed to the number 1 on the cap and the rotation is 1342 CCW then its 1234 down the block thats the only way it runs right. then when i did the timing chain the wood drift keys were at 12oclock and the dot on the gear was about 5. on the cam the nub was at 12oclock and the dot on the gear was about 3. and the colored link on the chain was on both dots and the cam was in between the intake and exhaust loob so thats the compression stroke so all thats timed and the slash on the pulley was 2nd from the left when installed. the exhaust is free flowing I guted the cat thinking it was cloged but wasn't and the intake manifold has vaccum cause i took the brake booster hose of and its sucking and when trying to drive the brake pedal seems to be a little hard.

Ok guys I got everything running right. went and got compression leak tester and timing light and I was off on my timing so i moved it a tooth and got it running better. I was like 20degrees after tdc but now I am 15* before.

Now i have a question that I have been searching for and cant seem to find.

Is it suppose to be 15* BTDC at idle in park or is it 15* BTDC when you have it in gear?

I have it set to 15* BTDC at idle and running about 850 900 rpm and when i put it into gear it drops to about 5*BTDC and about 700 800rpm. is this right. I think i might still be off a tooth i modified my disty. to get 15* if not i would be at like 25 30*.
