i'm planning to spend $500-$1000 on either a body kit, rims, or bucket seats. i'm buying this for my boyfriend, so i'm not 240sx educated. i was hoping someone would know some good auto shops in San Francisco since i'd feel more comfortable seeing them for myself than online. my main question is on the body kit, so i was wondering if anyone knew a good 240 body kit site that i could check out, just so i can get an idea on what's good and what's not. please help!

thats not enough for a decent body kit. you MIGHT be able to get acceptable (key word acceptable) wheels\tires.

Also theres a thread on either page 1 or page 2 about alot of different body kits..You will want to take a look at that. BTW , you must be a dope gf getting your boy something like that.

Yeah, check the thread on all of the kits, but with paint and installation, itll probably be more. Check around though unless you know somebody.

what kind of kit is this for 300? Im sure you've heard the expression you get what you pay for. Its probally some cheap knockoff bodykit. I would high recomend (unless its a personal friend that owns a body shop or what not) not getting a 300 dollar kit. You also have to think about painting the kit , or repainting the whole car so it matchs up nicely. The 2k-3k more i was refering to was just an estimated price including paint. A good quality paint job is pricey. I think wheels\tires (17's maybe?) are more in your price range.

I hoped this helped out.

Oh ya , one more thing.. Is your boyfriend picking this kit \ wheels\tires out? Im sure if my girlfriend was planning on buying me something like this i would definately want to pick it out. =]

damn, wish i had a girlfriend like that. . . for that much money you could get some sparco seats the nice ones i want (EVO 2's, cause im a large dude) are mid/high $500 near$600 a piece MSRP. those are bad ***. maybe a short shifter? a system? my roomate has a bad *** system for sale, i think you could get the sub and box for 1000. he hit like 150db with it.it weighs an ***-load too so itd be good for understeer. :)intake, headers, Apexi S-AFC, keyless entry (really nice one), ignition sys, theres alot you can do with that money. did you want appearance? performance? ICE?

you guys are so sweet! thank you so much for the information! my boyfriend did show me what kind of body kit he wanted, but i've only seen it once, so i obviously don't remember.i did plan on getting an intake for him, but he said he might get it sometime this weekend. what i want to do is just surprise him. to me, that's just the whole purpose of getting these things.you did bring up a very good point, b240. i'll wait and see if he wants to re-paint his whole car, so i'll probably buy the body kit for him on your 2 yr anniversary. ;)i'll probably go for bucket seats or rims. i think rims would be more affective since he tells me he's got a more greater chance of spinning out when he drives in the rain.i'm pretty much helping him with his apperance, since i don't know a lot about his car. i don't think so should touch base with the kit or seats, since i'm not too sure what he wants to do with it.but i'd like some tips about headers. :)

you could get a 17" wheel/tire pkg for about 1g, but be sure he likes the rims first. thats important. headers are good but will only run you about 375-400 for a KA, (right guys).if going for appearance get some 17s and springs, or steering wheel, pedals, short shifter, boot, and maybe a tach?

well, he doesn't really care for rims, since he doesn't complain about it at all.he's mostly saying things about a kit, seats, intake, and engine. i'll give him a steering wheel when i think about getting him the kit and seats.he was thinking about headers, but changed his mind.so should i stick with rims? and maybe the intake if he didn't get it yet?

i thought hotshot headers went for like 250....Also savagepanda you will need to get tires to go with those rims..Just make sure your boy is happy with the style. Headers (im assuming the engine is a stock ka) will also make his car ALOT louder depending on the size of the exhaust and what not. So it may result in problems with cops. As you can see by my thread "so i got pulled over lastnight." I think if your going for looks rims\tires is the best way to go.

A injen or AEM intake (which is nice quality) will run you anywhere from 160-200. You could get him headers and a intake. I sure would be happy if my gf got me those. i already have the intake , but headers would be cool.

i'll probably go for the rims then, and yeah, he's never really mentioned headers since he takes his car onto base. he's always telling me there's cops all over.

so...someone want to go car shopping with me? :D

**** you only live 8 hours from lol...

you would still have to get tires with those rims , unless he wants to keep them stock size which is 15 inches. i personally would go with a nice 17 inche tire\rim combo.

One of my bestfriends is up in sanfran in the military as well

I dont know how much installation and the kit would cost, but that would be cool to get him a JDM conversion for his car, he might not be into that kind of style though. Maybe get some kouki style lights in the back, from a 180sx. Maybe you could get him some GT-R badges, neon lights, Type R stickers, Powered by Nissan seatbelt enhancers, strobe lights, and a great big aluminum wing and maybe some clear corners. Should run you about 600 hundred, i know i would love those.

Panda,

If you had to classify your boyfriend as a guy wants to be a pimp, or a race car driver... which one would it be?

If he wants to be a pimp, get him a bodykit and other accessories that will make the car look unique, and stand out from the rest.

If he wants to be a race car driver, get him a nice Momo wheel (~$200) and a good race seat, like a Torino (~$750). That will make the driving experience a lot better.

Don't even bother buying him performance mods until he's ready to do an SR20DET swap. :D When it gets to that point, you can start talking about kids, a house, and whatever else you want to get out of the relationship. :icesangel

I'm more of a performance man so my girl will be getting me a turbo with intercooler but those together will probably run about $2000 for valentines.

Yeh I'm pretty happy with her.

i talked to my bf today and he actually does want to get a header. he's interested in a kit called "invader", but he hasn't even begun thinking about painted it since he's on a low budget. so should i go with rims/tires and headers, or rims/tires and intake?

and pleasepleaseplease, if anyone's living near san francisco, contact me so we can go car shopping together. lunch is on me! :D
