It's not the most practical choice, but I vote for the Z. I'd have someone look at the supposed small bit of rust on the fender (what looks like a little can often just be the tip of the iceberg).

It's not super practical, it's not really fast, but it's just damn cool. 150hp/148 ft lbs of torque with a curb weight of only 2355lbs sounds good to me.

Do you work on your own cars?
Yes, I do work one my own cars. And one of my classes at high school this year is Advanced Auto, for my third year. So, I have access to an alignment rack, 4 lifts, brake lathe, diagnostic equipment, machine shop, plasma cutter, and a bunch of other fun toys.

Cough Cough my mom has this restored 1971 240z for sale. Rebuilt motor, good interior aside from a broken console. 4 speed unibody reinforced and all rust removed. For what she wants you could have it shipped.

Hey JDMfreak, I've been looking for those and there all either really sh.tty, or automatic! The only awesome one was a 2000 Maxima SE, but it had a salvage title due to theft.

Oh, and I also found this: http://www.craigslist.org/sby/car/41358491.html It's a 2002 Sentra SE-R with a few goodies. Although it's over my budget, my parent's agreed to help out a bit if the car was safe, reliable, and fairly new. But how much would you guys ask for it?

KBB is BS. It is written by dealers. Total BS. If you can get a black book like what dealers have then you will have the best price reference. Sorry had to rant.

I always thought it was bs too. I wish I could get an ''excellent" condition 91 240sx SE with 100k miles for $2,000!!

Oh, and if any one does have a 91-93 240sx SE with <100k miles, in California, I'll buy it on the spot. Hell, even if it isn't in Cali, I'll get it shipped or drive out to get it...

Whoa! Watch out on the Spec, '02 QRs had recalls, make sure those were done quickly, scoured cylinder walls = bad.

I have tons more to say about QRs... but... well, I'm an SR guy, so... let's just say I'd take an 00-01 SE over an 02-03 Spec any day... (opinion)

If you're OK working with carbs, I'd definitely go for the Z. As nice as that Supra is, the Z is a classic. The '71 is light, doesn't have the big stupid looking bumpers of the later 70's Z cars and is devoid of a lot of the emissions equipment plaguing modern cars.

I personally like the Z, but im also a rabbid sedan fan.

Toyota cressida (4 door non turbo supra basically, 1JZ-GTE and 7M-GTE compatible)Mazda 929 (twin-turbo rotory swap from JDM version availible)Infiniti Q45 (already equiped with a saucy motor)Lexus GS300 (Early model, 2JZ-GE stock )Mitsubishi Galant VR4 (turbo AWD DSM, with 2 extra doors)

Or, if you feel like being the man, and early RWD Nissan/Datsun Maxima.

JDM and I have been talking. For the sake of teh coupe killaz I will put aside my rivalry with the Spec. That's asking a lot.

If it's clear on the recalls, get that biatch!

I found TWO in a junkyard, both in really nice shape, but space and money still keep me from my dreams!

Has the L28 strait 6 in it, so in theory, i guess kits that work for the 240-280Z probably work for this maxima too.

Well, the SE-R already had a brand new motor / transmission installed (8k miles age for engine, 1k for transmission), due to the recalls. But unfortunately, my parent's decide they don't want to put that much money towards a car.

Oh, well, there's more good news. I found a 2000 Sentra SE! Whoo! Oh, and if it has it have 16" wheels, does that mean it has the PP with LSD?

Here;'s the listing: http://www.craigslist.org/nby/car/41725259.html

How much would you offer? It has 73k miles...

Yup, that's the PP right there, however, just to make sure, check under the hood for the front strut bar, another key to it all.

Sounds almost exactly like my car, in fact. GET IT! BAHAHAHA! I need an evil twin... what colour?

73k is kinda high... I'd say around $6k (my car would go for probably $8-8.5 k and it's a year newer with 28,500 less on the clock, so that's where my guess is coming from).

Edit: To really test if it's PP equipped, get a passenger so that the weight is even on both sides and chirp the tires with someone observing both sides, they should spin at the same rate. (Assuming you can't just look underneath for the VLSD )

Get the 240z and invest in it. Make it into Ferrari eater. With no stinking V8s.

This Z belongs to performance shop owner. 240z with 280z 2.8liter bored to 3.0. Lotsa goodies under the hood. 303whp/268wtq in 2200lbs car. I was drooling all over this beast. Owner said that aerodynamics are crap past 140mph though.

Z headlight covers would help the aerodynamics. If he doesn't already have them.

Haha, no email form the guy yet. Evil twin I shall be! But thanks for the tips about checking for the PP. Although, I don't think the dude would like me trying that last little test. Even though the last time I test drove a 240sx, they guy urged me to do a clutch-kick drift. I had to oblige...

And I found another Z that I might think about getting: http://www.craigslist.org/nby/car/41829795.html Has some nice mods as well as an awesome paint color: Monte Carlo Blue Pearl, from a Honda S2000. And it's a bit cheaper than the last one, also 83k miles on chassis / engine.
