Hey guys, I'm new to the site and need some advice...well more like answers.

I have an SR'd 240sx coupe and just recently the starter went out. I want to replace it and was wondering if the starter off an SR20DE will fit? I've heard that it wouldn't and others say it will. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I heard about the internals being interchangeable but I don't want to buy a Sentra starter and find out it doesn't fit.

165 shipped isn't bad. I'll let you know for sure.

You could always get a brand new one for the SR20det from Courtesy Nissan for the low, low price of $618.66

To tell you the truth, I don't know. I need to take it off and see. I want to say that it's internal and spins out just like yours. I havn't had a chance to take it off. School owns me right now.. I'll try this weekend and let you know. Thanks for the advice and heads up. I appreciate it.

Are you sure? I've heard so many different things. I've heard the one off the Sentra 2.0 will fit, that the KA internals will swap with the SR20DET internals, and now that the KA starter bolts right up. I guess I should take it off and compare them huh?

That's bull. I know from first hand experience it won't work. First off, the KA uses a supported starter gear. That's what that big housing is for on the end of the KA starter. It interferes with the flywheel.

Ahh. Ok. That's exactly what the thread I linked was all about. A member combined a KA starter with an SR base.

Check the for sale forums and ebay..people are always selling them..Or you can go to autozone and buy a 89-90 240sx starter and swap the mounting flange's out.Its really easy to do..
