Lastnight we had over 150 cars at the weekly meet on SR50 in O-town. It's starting to get out of hand, I dont' mind the Supra's, RX-7's, WRX's, and the occasional IS300... but the ricers are coming out of the woodwork now to see all the cool cars. So we're starting to consider leaving the spot we've called home for the last 4 years and going for somthing else.

Anybody have any ideas?

let me know

agreed...wasn't out last night, but I heard about the crowd...

Our backup location of orange and 50? It's kinda tight though, not really room for more than 8 cars or so.

Sports Authority? The people who used to hang out there have all left...that location was pretty high profile though, might attract the wrong crowd again.

We should probably try and keep it around downtown orlando, that seems to be the most central for everybody in the area...some peeps up in altamonte, and those poor souls who live in kissimmee :)

Maybe try and share the parking lot with the vw meet?

What's wrong with Kissimmee? hehe.

I really do like the Orange and 50 spot, it's nice and we havn't been forced out at all since we started going there. Plus you get all the women on their way downtown passing by (always a plus). Sports Authority and Best Buy are both on the 'black list' of OPD so if we show up there we will more than likely get thrown back out.

Anybody know anything about the parking lot next to the Deli on Orange and 50?

Well just like its like an intrusion w/ the ricers coming to our spot, it would be kinda the same if we go to the ECCO (VW) spot. Most of the guys there are cool but a little on the snobby side and probably wont take kindly to all of us showing up there, like someone parking infront of your house for your neibors party!!?!

The Orange and 50 spot is way small plus the V8s hang there. And your right there is only enough room for like 8 cars. The cops dont bother the V8 crew cuz the owner of that shop has given them permission to be there so the cops cant do nothing

I dont think anyone has done the lot in front of the old Peaches Records and Tapes.... thats a big lot and as long as it doesnt get like it did last week it should be cool?!

I got an idea.... How 'bout Sonic on I drive??? NOT!!!

This is the proposed list of rules that we hand out to everybody at the meet. Any ricers don't want to follow them me and Jay will kick them out :)

Orlando Area “anti-rice” club rules and regulationsWe have been getting a lot of new people showing up lately, which is great, but we would like to lay down some simple rules and share a little bit about the history of this meet so that everybody may better appreciate what is going on.This club has been around in one form or another for over 5 years. In that 5 year span we have NEVER been kicked out by either the police or the owners of this property. We hope that this new list of rules will help us keep it that way.1. no burnouts, engine reving, or other behavior we see as unfit2. no loud music, if we can hear it 3 cars away it’s too loud3. no crusing the parking lot, you show up you find a spot, you park4. clean up after yourself, and if you see junk on the ground pick it up5. NO alcohol, none whatsoever…. We will call the police on you 6. strobes or neon lights are not to be used (it attracts too much attention and after all we are the ‘anti rice’ club)I hope these rules give you some idea about what we’re looking for. Beyond that please have a good time and have fun checking out all the great cars with your friends. And if you don’t want to follow these rules please don’t come, or else we will ask you to leave.

those are more or less courtasy than rules... the only prob is, we have no athority to do anything about it. You can ask someone to leave all you want but if they dont you cant make them. its not our property and if cops get invloved then we will all have to leave.

but just my opinion, I could be wrong

Bennigins on SR50 (colonial dr) near the orlando exec. airport, fassion square mall, and bestbuy. Every saturday night at about 10:30pm

Paul

BTW we have permission to be there as far as I know, they don't, so we could always tell the cops that. I want to be polite about it first, then I'm going to start looking into getting cops out there (have a freind in FHP I can talk to )

well we got kicked out of orange and 50 by cops they said if you dont havbe note allowing the use of the parking lot you have to leave. so one of us needs to be doing somthing abt getting a note. from whoever it is that owns that parking lot. then we can stay even if cops show and then we have the right to say the ricers arent allowed when cops come. and i think we need more damn nissans up there..

Ok, here's what I've found out so far...

according to Christine Davinson the property manager for Colonial Prominade CREC (their parrent comany baised out of Miami) she said she has no problem with our group, and knows we've been there forever (they actually have a standing order with their security guard not to run us out). But due to the liability of it cannot provide us with written concent to be there. She then suggested that I call Jerry the general manager of Bennigins and see if he would give me permission since they are the ones who sublease that parking lot from CREC. I talked to the day manager and she said she would have Jerry call me back within a few hours to discuss the matter with me. So if we can get somthing from him we will have the written proof we need to be there and to have the cops come out and ask the ricers to leave.

If all else fails CREC leases the land from the Orlando Airport Authority so we could go to them, but I'd rather not unless it's a total last ditch effort.

I'll post somthing else when I get my callback in a few hours (if he dose call).

Hey Paul, in regards to the parking lot at bennigans, I used to have a letter from an old bennigans manager that gave us permission to be there as long as we did not disturb their customers and other wording. I no longer have it so a new one is needed.

Paul, and Orlando 240sx crew,There's a Wal-Mart out on Highway 50 ,East of Rouse Road. There may already be a precedence set at this Wal-Mart regarding Car Clubs. The Orlando Club DSM meets there on Friday evenings at about 7:30pm.Here is their web site http://orl.dsmforum.comI observed the DSM crew there a few weeks ago. People were not "cruisin the lot", no loud music,no burn outs !They had a great turn out with no "Whacko behavior problems". I have a nice 1991 S13 that I want to drive over.I can'ttake those "RICERS and WHACKOS" and "DUI candidates" !Thanks,Bob Fagan"Grandpa S13"

The meet in on 50 (colonial drive) right across Fashion Square mall next to Bennigans.

On another note, what the hell happend? Cops broke up the meet this weekend. This got way out of hand. The ricers were doing their thing and 5 minutes later cops bust in and tell everyone to leave.

Ok,these guys are the guys that turned Sonics into a RICETAURANT and now invading that parking lot for the Nissan meet. I say you Nissan guys make a statement by having all the 240s/SER/300zx/etc park all together, make it BIG.We know that everyone doesn't really know each other but just park all together. Yeah and of course there is the friends of the Nissan guys that are mature and just there to chill and talk car mods, check out swaps and can just park behind.I say the imediate spaces where you make a right off of 50 into parking lot. That way when these guys come in they get a clear signal! And if you know more Nissan people invite them to take up some more spaces.

Hey,If you guys would meet earlier maybe things would'nt get"out of hand". The "cops asked everyone to leave"?I've watched the DSM guys meet Friday nights at 7:30pmat that Wal Mart on East Hwy 50 by Rouse Road. Thereare plenty of people enjoying cars. No "ricers", No COPSand the Wal Mart people are cool. Why do you have to meetat a restaraunt parking lot at 10:30pm on one of their busiestnights? I know, that's the way you've always done it.I want to show off my S13. Please meet earlier,in a betterspace. Thanks,Bob Fagan,Oviedo,Florida

the DSM guys dont get harrassed because its a Friday night. No one cruses on that night. How bout getting off that main strip? The Stake n Shake on 436 in Winter Park would have no prob w/ us going there. The bikers go there every Thursday night and they have like 200 people there all the time. I mean, if we are meeting to hang out w/ friends with like interests then what does it matter where we hang? I think that if we get off that main strip (aka, hwy 50) we should have no problems,,, Plus Stake n Shake has awsome milk shakes!!!!

Just a thought!!

Or you guys can start meeting back up at orange & 50, accross from the fuel sluts. That way there's no room for the uncool guys to hangout, since the parking lot is small :) And since cool people are, well, cooler, then they uncool people will get kicked out by the cool people :)

It wasnt a problem before, and it was said earlier in this thread that we had persmission from the property management to be there. We just have to find out what happend and how to keep it from happening again. Its just all the ricers from sonics coming down and "invading" our Nissan meet. Things would be cool if they wouldnt play the music so damn loud, do stupid dangerous burnouts and stunts and start fights.

Damn, didn't know that. Haven't been to O-town in awhile. You should tell all the sonics guys that sports authority is "the" place to hang out. Maybe you can get them arrested or something :)
