An EMAIL FROM BETH::Hi! I have some more information:Entry fee for Dyno competition $50, that will get you 3 runs with color printout of your runs. Every entry will get a $20 gift certificate for anything you want from our store (online or ordered there at the store). Top 3 will get bigger gift certificates plus prizes, I am calling several vendors to get prizes sent in so I'm not sure what they are just yet. I've talked with Stillen, AutoMeter, and AEM who are sending us some things so far. I have a key so I can stay late, but the shop (dyno, nitrogen and nitrous filling) will close at 5:00. I'll keep the waiting room, counter, and outside lights on until probably 9:00 pm. We can do the nitrogen filling for tires at a discount for your group - normally the price is $30 for a full set but we'll do it for $20 for anyone who wants it done the day of the meet. It's a good idea to reserve a spot ahead of time because it takes at least 20 minutes per car and the machine can only do one car at a time. We'll do the nitrous (racing gas for the bottles) cheaper than our regular rate too - I will find out what that is and let you know. Anyone who wants to pre-order goodies for their car to get ready for the meet - any performance parts or really anything else - I have discounts set up already with Stillen, DriverFX.com, and JC Whitney. As soon as I have details I'll let you know. It will be good on any pre-orders or any orders placed the day of the meeting. OK I will send more information later! In the meantime if anyone wants a quote on anything or wants to send me year/make/model and wish list, be sure to call or email me. We have wireless internet already set up for the location so anyone who brings a laptop can get on the internet free all day. We will also have at least one computer set up for those who don't bring their own computer. OK, call me or email me if you have any questions, and I'll get you the rest of the info soon! Hello all! Just registered here. I don't own a 240, but I would love to attend meets and check out other rides. I dig the creativity. I live here in Greenville, SC. I'll see you Sunday at Discount off Woodruff. (Are Maxima's included?)

I Love this car immensely!!!!

If I can offer some advice:

Stay away from the SE units. They have had shimmy and strut issues. I have only read about one SL having that issue. Mine runs great and (knock on wood here) haven't had any trouble with it. The difference between the SE and SL are substantial on some issues and minor on others.

The SL is the 'luxury edition'. It rides smoother and has more features that are standard rather than optional like they are on the SE. Especially if you get an SL with DPP. That's your Bose and Xenon's and Sunroof. You also get a heated steering wheel, leather and all the other goodies. Again, I don't resent buying the SL at all.

One bit of frustratin though: I took it to the dealership today to replace a bulb under warranty. They told me that the fog lamp is a special order bulb from Nissan, and that the entire front bumper had to be removed. (even though it is in the headlamp assembly). Haven't had a chance to verify this, just now got back. Nonetheless, this is a screaming car even if it is front wheel drive Which btw I prefer for snow and ice.Just my two cents......

Oh yeah, the SE is the 'sports edition', a stiffer ride and meater suspension. I've heard it said that it is more responsive, however, the SL doesn't seem anyless responsive!?!

front bumper be removed? i've never heard of that one. heated steering wheel? thats different. FWD, i hate (personally) there not that much fun to drive if it a straight drive. We dont get much snow here anyway so oh well. Anyways, its awsome that we have a new car in the group here

ClubSX,

My sister went to school in Rock Hill! (WU).

FWD isn't for everyone (obviously). I thourghly enjoy driving it year-round. We do get ice and snow here in Greer. And yes, a heated steering wheel. It even has automatic mirror in switch. That is really cool. My twin sister's Hummer was in my garage with my car. I was able to fold the mirrors in with the touch of a button. Allowed for a bit more room. The only downside to front wheel drive is the torque steer. The new Max's have 265 hp. 255 lbs of torque @ 4400RPM. This car screams! Not too shabby for a FWD vehicle. My motto is that if you are concerned with torquesteer, when you punch it, hang on with both hands

I too, enjoy a straight drive. My husband drives a rig for a living. Double shifting gets old, especially in traffic. So I bought an auto for him. (It does have the man-u-matic transmission, but clutchless trannies aren't real standard trannies). (This is also better than driving a minivan which is what he wanted me to get...so this is a huge compromise for us).

I read my owners manual, and I have yet to come across instructions on how to replace fog bulbs. So right now I have to assume that the stealership knows what they are talking about.

If I was considering a Maxima for myself (which I was until I got a company van and have no need for a personal daily driver other than my 240) then I'd get the SE with the 6 speed (not avail. on SL) and it wouldn't matter if it was the 5th gen or 6th gen as long as it was the vq35 not the vq30.

But now my wife wants one for herself when its time to trade in her Ford Escape (I hate that car), so it will definitely be an automatic, but since it will be for both of us and not just hers like her escape is, I'll have a little bit more say in it (although we agree on everything). It will have black leather, sunroof and be either black or dark blue on the outside. They come loaded already so I don't guess there's any reason to wish for more than that. I don't care if its an SE or SL, only downside to the SL is the 17 inch wheels instead of the SE's 350Z-ish 18s. But I guess if the SL has the Bose system, I can probably get wheels later.

thanks for the info I'll definitely keep the SL in mind

The SE is also a sharp car. The SE can also have the Bose, it is just considered an upgrade, thus more $$$$. You are absolutely right about the 17's. I forgot all about them. I only cared that I had rims and not hubcaps. I really do like the look of the Nissan Maxima rims. I have heard great things about the 6spd SE. The blue paint looks awesome and majestic. An appearance of royalty. It really blazes. I'm not terribly crazy about the black...paint swirls and all. These cars are saucy. Everyday I look for a reason to get out and drive it. Even if it is just for coffee. Good Luck in your expeditions (no pun intended). Let me know if I can be of any help...there is an onyx se for sale here at Toyota of Greenville. It does have the Bose and Xenon's I believe and they are asking $26,900.

btw, if you want some 18 inch wheels instead of the 17s a buddy of mine will be selling some 350Z 18 inch wheels with tires.

Also, don't knock on Maximas for being front drive! That is their ONLY downside. My 95 Maxima SE 5 speed with only 195 hp will blow away any STOCK 240SX off the line, and rides smoother and more comfortably and it just keeps on accellerating like a beast til at least 125 mph (where I chickened out and slowed down, cops are horrible in GA). No other car that I can afford can touch it for all it has to offer. It can't touch a 240 in the curves and for some reason its not as fun to drive but its a very fast car. I'd also take it on a roadtrip any day over my Escape even though it has 154,000 miles compared to 44k on the escape. Too bad I have to sell it, I'm going to miss it immensely.

I checked into it tonight: From drivers side foglamp, I have to remove air intake and air filter. From passenger side, I have to remove the washer resevoir, and filler tube as well as plastic cover. I will have access after that. Apparently my service advisor was told something incorrect. It sounded fishy to me as well. But I wasn't able to find anything to contradict his evaluation.

yeah, my 95 has a 1 year old paint job and needs to be buffed badly after my horrible waxing job, but I guess that's for the next owner to worry about. I'm leaning more towards the blue but she wants black I think. I don't think either one of us care really. Just need to pay down that escape so we can get rid of it. The max will most likely be a used one, but I don't mind looking everywhere and waiting til I find exactly the color and options and price I want when the time comes.

im not hating on the maxima's i just dont like that there FWD. thats just not my style. I dont think im really going to buy a car thats younger then a 95 or 96. After those years the engines became a b**** to work on. I like how the S14 is so open and can fix pretty much anything on it really simple.

The one guy is backing out of the deal. he says he's only willing to pay 1500 right now and wants to see if the other guy folds. thats 2k less then what we had in mind. I just hope that other guy doesnt back out either otherwise im stuck at 1500 which isnt very much to play around with after buying the new hatch. Anyways, im off to bed guys (and girls) Gnight
