hm...i may be down for it. a bunch of us from ga240sx are wanting to drive the tail of the dragon early next year so maybe we can do both at once and have quite a few more people for this meet. ill post something about it on there and see what kind of interest we have. greenville is a long way for a meet, try to get some type of events going on and im sure a few more people will be interested from around here.

ah, hell yeah. That'd be cool if we could like get one of thoes cabins for the weekend up there. Looks like we'll have enough people to put up some money and rent a few rooms for the weekend. Go cruise the tail during the day and come back to Brews, BBQ and nissan Brotherhood

Hmm, looks like from atl to Greenville is about 2 hrs.

also, a large number of people are traviling 1-2 hours to get to greenville also.

Greenville to the tail is a 3 hr trip

Hmm, for most people it will be a 5 hr trip. I guess it will be optional and some can stay and hang out in greenville and some can go to the tail of the dragon. I would hate to split the group up like that but I just know not everone would be up for the road trip. it also looks like only 3 other people are down for going. i dunno, it would be fun tho.

i'm confused. what's the tail of the dragon? I think i'm out of the loop on this one. lol... we could make it a weekend thing. Saturday have the meet in greeville (we can cook out and stuff- I'm still trying to get some drifting stuff going on) and Sunday go the the tail of the dragon.

I'd be down for the deal's gap run as well. Haven't been there in probably 2 years.

And for those of you that want to go and have never been....do NOT try to drive faster than you can, safely. The tail will OWN you if you're not careful. I don't think I've ever been there when atleast one person from the group did not wreck their car/bike in some way. And I've been there many times. Just want to warn people, it can be very dangerous if you get cocky.

It's not just any mountain road. It's nationally known as one of the best mountain roads in the country.

Check out http://www.dealsgap.com, as it gives a little bit more info on the area.

Drifting on the tail would be scary as hell. Waaay too many blind corners and back to back S turns. It's a real fun road to "cruise" but I've only been once and and as EZcheese said lotta people out drive their skill. I went with a 350Z meet and a buddy of mine put his pearl white Z33 in a ditch...sad sad sight to see.

Was that the one where the car behind him had it on film? I saw a video somewhere where a Z33 went off the road there.

And last time I was up there, a black twin turbo Z33 wrecked into a mint 240Z. I think about 4 more cars were in the wreck too, forget what all they were.

That's cool...maybe you can ride first, then decide if u want to take your own car.

You can ride with me if you want....just be warned, I will probably scare the **** out of you. Not that I'm unsafe, but I tend to push a car harder than most people believe is possible....but then again, I frequently do track events.

cheese - seriously i coudn't tell you. I've never seen the video and haven't talked to the guy in a while but it very well could have been.

chick - You should still drive it for your self, seems like all the accidents happen whith people trying to show off or pass slower moving traffic and not being familar with the road. For someone who enjoys the art of driving it is still something worth experiencing first hand. And as YOU said, as long as you don't do anything stupid you'll be cool.

here's a quote pulled from the site

"Sheriff and Highway Patrol units normally stay off of the Tail of the Dragon unless investigating an accident. At times enforcement is stepped up when a lot of complaints are made."

I believe speed limits are 55 on the NC side, and 45 on the TN side. However, it's virtually impossible to hit these speeds anyway on most of the road.

And yes, cops are VERY lenient on this road. They basically will only get you for illegal passing, not speeding.

Also, everytime I've been up there, there usually is a TON of people already there. So its not like some secluded road system that nobody knows about. Everyone is there having fun...and sometimes you have to wait in line to even go. But people usually police themselves pretty well and there really is nothing to worry about...except getting too cocky and wrecking.

We're working on redoing those links, so we should have a new format up in the next day or two. Everyone's complaining about it
