Yeah that's the argument that I've been dealing with as well. I know Audi parts are way up there and Subaru's seem to be pretty reliable, albeit idk how maintenance on a flat 4 would go. I really considered to 2K 2.5 RS but they are really hard to find. I've been searching the used car sites(autotrader, cars.com, etc) and can rarely find anything within a 400 mile radius. I would hate to travel across the country to look at a car for it to be a p.o.s in person. I then considered a late model wrx (01,02) but they are still a little more than I would like to pay.

Hey James that looks like a pretty decent car for the $$ you paid. It should only take another $1000 to get it all together and I think you still come out w/ a good deal, congrats. I've always liked that body style as well--4DSC!

Here is what i think you should do Bryton.

A) Get a bike, i have a friend who just bought a Suzuki 600 something, not quite sure. Pays $80 a month, insurance is $175 for 6 months and alot better gas mileage then a car. Honestly you cant go bad on that. I almost pay that just for the gym that i attend.

or...and this is a bad or...

B) You buy a cheap Honday to get you through. My friend's brother has a 89 i believe, Civic, and that thing has 250xxx miles on it and hasnt broken down. Albeit it looks horific due to some accidents, it runs like a charm.

Yea.. I miss my little Honda (it's in the background on street). [IMG][/IMG]The orginal engine (1.5L) had 251,000 and was never opened up for more that a water pump and timing belt (normal maintenance on those). I sold it to a buddy of mine (I get to still work on it and play), but it was getting 43 MPG and burned no oil. I gave the old motor to a buddy of mine at the local Honda dealership and he was putting it into a Civic of his. I'm not a hater of the Honda's, they build a good product. Not as much fun as RWD, but good reliable car. If you look for one, find a plain jane car. Usually girl owned and not beat on... Good luck in the search...

topless, didn't those hatches have a single cam vtec?

but another ole reliable, my jeep..more dents than mike tyson's face, it burnt a little oil, noisy lifters, but i loved it..you can find a cherokee almost anywhere for nothing..cheap insurance, easy to maintain.

but just stay out of the 87-90 renix models, their electrical system sucks; shoot for a 93-99, high pinion front axles(towing packages came with d44 front and rear), h.o. motors, indestructible p231 transfer case, sure they don't get 920mpg, 18 city-25 highway at best, but i doubt it'll ever leave you stranded; if if it does, i'll give you the tub of parts i have sitting form all mine if i can find them under all our other crap in storage

Oh really? I drive a 99 Cherokee Sport as a DD. Albeit its not a 4x4 but hey its still fun to drive and extremely comfortable. My mom bought for 4500 in 9.9/10 condition. The only real problem is a few scratches in the door. Other then that nothing wrong with it at all.

Been Trying to get rid of my car for awhile now. I'll let it go for $2100 as is with an extra pair of seats that have no rips or tare's in them. Maybe venturing away from 240's for awhile.

I was afraid you'd get sick of them... you've had a run of bad ones. I don't know why you want to get rid of the one you have, I think you just need to get yourself a good SR and call it a day. That car is nice.

Thanks for all the inputs. Unfortunately a bike isn't practical for me right now, although I do plan to get one @ some point. They are great on gas, insurance, maintenance, but not good for hauling kids and making trips to the grocery store. I've been the Honda route already. I had a '95 Civic EX for a little while..sadly it was totaled 2 months after I paid it off. I'm pretty set on RWD or AWD as my next vehicle. I love my 240, but having a DD as a project car sometimes doesn't mix very well. I found an 02 2.5rs in Ashville, NC for just under $9K and my wife seemed ok with the idea of a Subaru. If push comes to shove and I'm not able to trade in my 240, I guess I'll just have 2 cars

if you dont go off road or live anywhere where theres washouts, you dont need a 4x4..my first jeep wasnt, and it still went anywhere, plus that cloth/tweed interior stands up to just about anything

and how bout hat straight 6?, owns some hondas doesn't it muahahaha

Sure does man. My friend has the 93' Tarus SHO and he'd always smoke myself and my friend in our 240's but one night i drove the Jeep and dusted it. He couldnt believe it lol. Yea, i dont need a 4x4 for what i do. If i was to do that i'd find a beater for it.

Greg, 2,000 is the lowest i'll go. I paid alot more for it and fixed alot of things, along with added new parts that were needed.
