If your planning on getting another set of wheels in the near future anyway I'd go ahead and sell them. You may have a little trouble getting good money for them later with more wear on the tires.

If you think your car is a pile, then you should see the car that just replaced my dead 240. (at least its a fast pile)

Gregg (gnvarnadore) is supposed to buy it sometime next week. Its not in 100% condition either. Giving it to him for 150. The car already has GR2's with Prokits on it. I have the amber signals laying around here somewhere.

that gives me an idea. maybe i should start transporting parts for people as a service and charge for gas to pick up and deliver parts plus a little extra for myself. its just an idea. heck i might put it in action if people are interested.

ok pat I think I got it: I've been racking my brain on this because your car + that nice color still needs something.

I think you should take a poll on this, but what if you had the roof painted black, tinted the windows, added the lip (blue or black, not sure), then paint your wheels (either a glossier black, or a bronze or gold color, put in 5mm spacers, and lower the car some more?

I think the black roof would mute out the bright blue just enough to make it look dead sexy.

I need some help: you guys gotta help me pick out some wheels! If you think I should keep what I got and get used to the handling, then say so, but if you think I should go back to the drawing board, then give me some idea of what would set off my car perfectly.

I've kind of gotten disenchanted with the MB Weapons, so I don't know what I want at this point.

If you paint the roof black, then make sure you get the windshield pillars too... then tint the windows... make the top black and will hide the lines and make them blend into one clean look.... def lower it with a nice roll on the fenders.. that way you can keep the smaller tires and have a nice look... nice black lip and carry the black onto the hatch lid in back... ubersexy...

James.. I think for what you paid for those rims and tires... they look good on your car... the reason you feel the loss of power if not from rim size so much as tire circumference.. by going to the larger circumference tire you changed the final gear ratio... you do have an SR in that thing don't you?? That engine is more than capable of turning those tires.. yes a stagger step will make the car like it handles worse.. it should feel like the front end wants to push in corners, this is because you can't really get the rear to roll out(upping the air pressures to around 40-44 will help). As you increase the air pressures you will decrease the contact patch of the rears, thus making the car want to "turn-in" better... causing the rear to rotate out (read - slide better and come around easier)... also being limited to the suspension setup you have, you can't dial in any camber and offset the stagger. I think the look of those rims on your car look stylish... not ricey .. more of a VIP look.. a nice lip some mild skirts and a rear valance... bam.. you would have a clean set-up.. JMHO..

I like the thinking you've done lol. Im going to be selling the hood to Gregg this weekend. I plan on painting the next hood black (atleast for now) I plan on saving after the lip to have coilovers. Next i'd look into getting the roof painted black. I guess we'll have to see in the next few months. Being 18 in High School, and tabeing financially by yourself doesnt really help when wanting to slap parts onto your car. Honestly, i'd like to know why my car doesnt sit any lower then it is. I have GR2's with Prokits and it looks stock height. Anyone have ideas?

thanks guys. I can't seem to find anything I like that I can afford at the moment. I had an offer of $400 for the set, but could not find anything in a 17 inch for remotely close to that new or used. I think I may get my hub centering rings (whenever I find out which ones I need) and some 5 mm spacers and press on at least for a little while. I eventually would like to go with a smaller diameter wider tire in the rear to get rid of the stretch. I may change my mind, but I think that is the route I'm going to take for now. If I go mountain driving, I may just stick the stock ones back on.

Pat, I would paint your hood body color and the roof black, and leave the hatch alone, that's just my opinion.

If you're replacing the hood... paint it the body color and black out the rest... here's a pic of someone's car from NICO (sorry whoever's this is... my labels got screwed up). Verrry Seexxxxyyy..

that is dead sexy. I wonder what they did to their fenders and what body kit that is. I'll have to keep that in mind when I start building my S13. That's the right kind of body kit because it doesn't look like an add on. Yeah let me know what you have, if you can get what I need for a decent price I could sure use them, if you don't mind shipping.

Pat, no doubt coilovers are a decent investment. But I guess in your situation (and mine for that matter) you already have decent struts, so why not take the $150 for the hood and invest in some Eibach Sportlines? they lower the car more than the pro kit, and would probably ride pretty much the same as the pro kit as well, I would guess. My car is lowered on sportlines and I wouldn't want to go lower. You may decide you're happy with that at least for a while.

Another thing to consider, I already said paint your wheels either a super high gloss black, or bronze or gold, but maybe add gunmetal to your choices, that's a safe bet if the others don't look just right. Wheel paint is like 2 bucks a can at autozone, that's all I used on my SE wheels.

my guess is that that 240 in the pic the person just added fender flares because i havent seen any fenders like that for a 240. some fender flares are custom made to fit the car while others are universal and have to be modded a little to fit. the cool thing is that they give you a wide body look without the cost of a full widebody kit and they offer you more room for different wheel offsets.

Yea. Right now i am spending 50 for the lip, then i need a MAF and im buying a Eclipse head unit from a friend at work for 80 bucks (can you believe i've been driving around this long without music?) Then its onto getting the hood painted at the Tech School which my friend can do for $35-40. Sportlines would be next on my list. I'll be going to PepBoys (have a wider selection of paint) tomorrow and see what they have. IM really looking for a bronze type color if possible. Honestly, im not much of a aftermarket Wheels kind of person (maybe because i cant afford them) but i like to keep it in the family and just upgrade.(i.e My S13 with S14 Kouki's or a S13 with S14 SE's) you catch the drift. We'll have to see though but i like how i've started off. I can finally say im getting somewhere. I remember being on NICO months ago and being depressed as everyone's ride was being fixed and upgraded. Now its my turn.

Gregg, shoot me an email of your address and i should be able to stop by there on Sunday and we'll get done what we need.

Smooth Looking 240 = Happy Pat

yeah, Pat it's good to see you on the road. I think that car has potential. You should be able to get a maf for like $40 on NICO, or check Import atlanta, or craigslist, there are people parting out wrecked 240s all the time in the atlanta craigslist ads and they'll probably ship.

Now im searching to find the cheapest Sportlines. So far i've found them the cheapest at MVPmotorsports. They want $199. I think i'll just do that instead of coilovers. the Prokits give front 1.8" & the rear 1.6" while the Sportlines give 2.2" and 2.1" in the back which i think is a good enough drop for what im looking for. Especially with the lip.

Hey if everyone wants to come down and help with my swap... you can have whatever you want from old setup... ( = less for me to throw out). Pat.. shoot me an e-mail.. i might be able to help you out with the MAF.. my verts water pump just crapped out and the car is off the road.. this is the Nissan Gods way of telling to pull the motor and start my swap...I'm almost done with work on an EG hatch... so 240 is in line next... I hope to start the tearing stuff down this weekend.. hmmm SR swap... Auto to 5-Speed conversion... Vert doors to Coupe doors... I'm gonna be a hermit for a few weeks.. lol

James.. i may have some front tires and possible some wider rears for you... i'll know more tomorrow... as well as a price on the hub centering rings.. I'm gonna measure the ID on the S14 of my employee's car.. i think Redemption said the rims were 73 mm for the rim..(i'll check previous post for exact)...

I got some megan racing springs for $85. They may not be quite as good as eibachs but they've been great for me and they're a whole lot cheaper.

Does anybody around here (clemson, anderson, greenville) have an extra one of those big brown 25 amp fuses? I blew one of mine the other day and so i have to use the one for the headlight motor just to get my car to run. Autozone doesn't carry them either.
