My wife and I purchased a 2014 Rogue SL with the premium package three weeks ago and have been having a bunch of problems with the navigation system. The map appears to be at least two years out of date. If anybody else has a navigation system in their car, was the map up to date when they first got their car? Also, the map will show that you should turn left but then the arrows in the display and the lady's voice will tell you to turn right. Other times, the navigation screen in the centre stack will show that you are to turn right but the screen in between the tachometer and speedometer shows you are to turn left so you don't know which way to go. We have also noticed that even though we have it set on fastest route with no other restrictions, it will often times send you mile and miles out of your way. I have checked mapquest, google maps, yahoo maps and my Garmin and they all say to go the same way yet this navigation system tells you to go a different way that is significantly longer. Has anybody had similar issues with their car?

Nav works fine for me as well. There's a couple areas that are not having the most accurate information like my Garmin had (Yuma Rd in Gate City, VA doesn't show up as a main road for most of it's length, but the "old state rt 714" which is definitely not a main road does), but the navigation performance is similar to my Garmin. I have never had it give me different directions between the two screens.

I have noticed lately on the information screen it does not show the distance to final destination if there are no turns left. It just show a flag and a straight arrow. I am pretty sure when I first got the Rogue it counts down the distance for the last part of the route. Has anyone noticed this?

Same here, not too impressed with the nav. Did a 800 mile road trip this weekend, brought my 4 yr old Garmin with me...

Lately experiencing the voice dialing system to correctly interpret and call ou the name of the contact I'm asking it to dial, but then dialing a random number from my address book instead. Happened after I visited the dealer last week to have a replacement driver's side sun visor installed.

The navigation is a real disappointment. I could have sworn that the information display shows a countdown of distance to the final destination.

Ah, yes, I think it does. Touch that icon and it will toggle between something else and the time of arrival and distance to destination.

Edit - this is on the main nav screen, on the right, where it shows the next / upcoming instruction in a grey rectangle

Mine was doing that too. When I upgraded my iPhone 5 to 7.1.1 it stopped. Also fixed some music playlist issues.

I was referring to the information screen behind the steering wheels. Sometimes it's hard to see the main screen for the small distance countdown.

It does show that for me. Did you disable the nav screen in the settings, or maybe switch to another screen? I'm also not sure if it will show this if there are active warnings (such as low fuel).

I think there might be some confusion. I think the information display behind the steering wheel is suppose to tell you how many km or miles are remaining when you have finished your last turn. It say ie 1km to destination on right, but the screen only shows the checkered flag and no kms left. The main screen will countdown the kms remaining. I hope this makes sense.

Oh, I don't recall seeing the remaining distance on the gauge cluster display. Just the little vertical progress bar thing. I must have misunderstood what you meant.

Sorry, its kind of hard to explain. Do you get the vertical progess bar if you just have to go straight to your final destination? I just get a checkered flag and a straight arrow.

I sometimes see an expected time of arrival (eta) and sometimes not and same thing with distance countdown. Don't know why that happens. You can change orientation so the map looks more normal instead the arrow pointing down or something stupid. I like Garmin's general orientation better. Wouldn't have paid for NAV if I could get the backup camera without it.

I checked mine last night. Once I'm on the straight away, I just get the straight arrow with the flag. Once I get to within ~1000 ft. I get the vertical progress bar.

Thanks for checking. I was pretty sure it should show the vertical progress bar on the information display behind the wheel. I will ask the dealer to check it out.

For some reason my 2014 Rogue Nav can't find/recognize certain brand names when saying " Points of Interest, ____________" ie, it can't recognize "The Home Depot", "Target", "Walmart" or "Walgreen's" other brand names it can recognize like "Subway", "Dairy Queen" and "Taco Bell". I have my dealer looking for a fix but it's frustrating. Any one else have this problem?

My issue with it is while using voice commands it can't recognize certain common brands like Target, Walmart, The Home Depot, etc. no matter what. I have filed a complaint with my dealer and am hoping it needs a firmware update or something. Another complaint I have is that with the Nav which is the most expensive radio - it doesn't even have a Scan radio channels button - that the cheaper radio without nav - has. Who was asleep at the wheel when they designed this?

I have the same problem with the POI commands and I can't find anyone who it actually works well for. It is a poor design.

The workaround is to use the Google Search NissanConnect app and then find what you're looking for that way. It works perfectly for me every time (when I'm in an area with cell service anyway).

Another thing I don't like is sometimes I will search for say a chain restaurant and I want to go to a particular location and the search results only say "XXX 2.0 miles", "XXX 5.0 miles", etc — it doesn't say what the address is so it's really very little help. I'm really disappointed with the Nav system - this is my first factory installed Nav and my after market one works as well if not better - what a waste of money.

My Rogue's the same way. No scan button and can't recognize common chain stores.

To be honest, before I start driving I just load up Google Maps on my phone and use that navigation if I don't know where I'm going or need to know where the closest Walmart, etc. is. I have bluetooth enabled, so my GPS will talk through the car. (I haven't used my Rogue navigation for any longer trips, just shorter ones so I can't say how reliable it is. I just find Google way easier to use/understand.)

I am so disappointed with the Navigation system and voice recognition - it's so bad that I use a portable $120 Garmin one in the car most of the time. In the first place the Nissan one won't find retail stores with voice recognition - only service stations, chain restaurants, etc and it also won't find local restaurants - only huge national chains. All of which my cheap Garmin does. Another issue is when it finds results from a search it just lists distances away for each - not the address - so I have no way of knowing which is which if I'm looking for a particular location. Sometimes I do this to try 'tricking' it to find a fast food place that I know is near the retail store I'm trying to navigate to. I also hate the lady's voice that always asks: "nearby or IN ANOTHER CITY??? And I'm like yeah, right I want to go to one three states away! To top it all off, it cost a lot of money and it's crap.

I had a strange issue this morning. I turned on the Rogue and the clock was correct. I have the clock set to auto. The radio turns on and its playing the cd. I know the last time I drove it, it was on XM. Then I notice the clock is wrong. I had to change it manually. Really strange. I had an update on the firmware a few months ago. I guess I will have to ask for the newest one now.

I had the same thing happen the other day - I was on my way to an appointment and The clock was reading more than an hour later than the correct time and after my appointment was over it was correct.

Had the same navigation issues on our 2013. Dealer was unable to help. On the third oil change, I demanded they update the system or give me back the amount it cost if we had to continue to use our Garmin. My wife wanted a multi CD player, so we were ready to swap out the navigation unit as it was worthless to us. They gave me the phone number to corporate. I noticed the little memory card wasn't pushed in all the way as if they had it out and I pushed it in. We used the navigation, and it's worked ever since accurately ? However, the clock gains time now. It's like 10 minutes fast. But the navigation works good. Maybe it was the card ?

I live in a suburb of Chicago and have owned the Rogue for 2 months. The navigation has worked well in the burbs.

A couple of days ago I made by first trip to Chicago to see a Cubs game. I had a couple of issues:

Issue 1: The navigation did not work correctly, on a very complex exit off the expressway. On this one, you had to
go thru 2 lights on the exit lane to turn correctly. Both my wife and I thought it told us to turn right. The
correct thing was to turn left at the second left, off the exit.

Issue 2: On the return trip, I had a choice between I90 and I94. The navigation system wanted me to go on I90
which was backed up and is always busy. It was about 5:00 pm and I90 is always congested, no matter
what the day is. I94 was wide open. I90 would only be about two miles shorter at best. I felt the real
time traffic system should have directed me to I94 (which is what I took anyway).

Do you think the real time traffic systems works well? The exits off of I90 can be confusing. I'm wondering if
I should renew SiriusXM after my trial. I like the real time traffic alert concept.

Thank you.

You are in Park Ridge I'm guessing ;)

My Rogue is older and thus doesn't have navigation, but most nav's will default to what is "supposed" to be the shortest route, i.e. less miles traveled.
A quick search found this Navigation system manual for 2010
http://www.nissanusa.com/pdf/techpubs/2 ... T-Navi.pdf
Go to page 105.

I assume you got a Navigation manual with your Rogue take a look to confirm the settings.

With all the construction in Chicago the only map that will be up-to-date will be Google Maps. Nav systems are nowhere near perfect, that has always been a complaint with them.
