Hi all,
Replaced the dead starter on a 2000 Maxima. Removed the battery as part of the process. Now the car won't start and the dash 'security' indicator lamp is on solid when the key is in the 'ON' position. Does the process detailed below actually work? Or, is this a trip to the dealer? Please, any input is appreciated!
Thanks,
Tim

The system will go into LOCK mode if it receives too many signals to the starter circuit without a registered key signal present.
Its possible to set this while diagnosing or possibly during the repair of a starter.
If you put a registered key in the ignition and leave it on for a minute or 2 (IIRC) it should recognize the key and unlock, resuming normal operation.
If this doesn't work, the dealer may have to re-register your keys.

The car was towed to the dealer and the IMMU portion of the NATS was found to be 'failing'. After they reset the NATS, the IMMU would lock it up again. The ignition switch itself was also replaced. $600 for 2 new keys, IMMU, and a new Ignition Switch. What do you say...ouch..:)
Thanks for the response. I'm very glad my '93 240SX SE doesn't have that feature... :dblthumb:
