My Summer Rims..

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I don`t have the exact answer but I did weigh my

winter rims (stock 17" + snow tire) on a digital weigh scale.

XICE-Xi2 snow tire = 28 Ibs

TOTAL WEIGHT rims/tires = 47.5 Ibs

STOCK 17" rims = 19.5 Ibs

The stock EX35 17 Michelin All season tire weighs exactly 27 IBS. (specs)

I believe the Enkie rims is a bit lighter. So the 18" optional rim is around

23-25 Ibs. Remember your rims might be a bit heavy, but you can get a

lighter tires that weighs 23 Ibs.

would a couple of extra pounds in the wheels have a big difference in performance? i ordered a set of 17" chrome rims and i didnt even look into the weight of each rim. i'm pretty sure they're a bit heavier then the stocks.

As stated by G35 TORONTO.

has nothing to do with size of the rim. it is the weight.

This is under the assumption that you have chosen the right tire sizes to keep the overall diameter the same.

I heavier rim/rubber combo will make it a bit slower in ACCELERATION, but only really noticable in 1st and 2nd gear. As you progress into the other gears it is negligable.

1 or 2 lbs difference in rim/rubber combo is not going to be noticable...5+ and we can see some differences in either direction.

Handling however is a bit different.... 17" for 20" there will be a noticable difference in side wall construction and how the car handles.

From my BUTT dyno, not only I could feel better acceleration from 1st and

2nd gear, I could feel it on the 3rd gear too if the RPM is close to 3k and UP.

Not only that, the car is very responsive. And FYI, I leave my 25-30 Ibs

spare tire in the garage- If driving within the state. I just carry a heavy

duty (3 mins- tire inflator = 5 Ibs)

Right now I`m tryin to lose 5 Ibs or more from my GUT LOL!

I should have gotten a RWD EX35! that`s 200 Ibs lighter.

But everytime I find myself in a WI Blizzard WITH 8" + snow,

with my AWD and a snow tires, I couldn`t help but notice a GRIN on my

face!
