in the mean time...what about your cam sensor being bad? you said you checked grounds...did you just check there connections or did you trace the wires and make sure they were un harmed? might have nicked one and it broke just enough to not work now
Cam sensor will not fully disable the engine, just make it batch fire. I have continuity tested the wires, and they all check good, for cam and crank.

lockout box is just the term i use, its just his security system. might be a dealership issue. ill ask around but i think theres something funky going on with his security.
engine managment is a f'd up thing to deal with
Thats what I thought. Hopefully someone has experience this before. Im contemplating buying a new security module.

Some cars have a feature where the car can be remotely disabled if it has been stolen. Not sure if they had that technology in '02 and I just remember hearing that from someone. Not sure if it's true or not.
Never stolen, never wrecked. By shady, I meant he was like 19, and didnt know squat about cars, and wasn't about to answer any of my tough questions.

I only have a single key for the car, and it is not an original. I have pulled the cowl off the column, as far as I can tell, there is no sensor ring on the ignition, just the trigger for the key beep.
Hmm, if you can, take apart the ignition and just make sure. It is possible that it was upgraded to a newer module at some point to add the key immobilizer.
That's a shot in the dark, but anything is possible, and that's easier then going inch by inch over the harness.
The key based immobilizers use a sensor ring mounted to the base of the ignition cylinder. Its right on the end, and if its there, you see it. They need to be close to the butt of the key, where the RFID chip is located.
