suspension? i didn't have to touch a single piece of my suspension. what mods are you running? leave the exhaust off until the end, you don't want to mess with the driveshaft again and have to uninstall the exhaust. does yours have ABS? you have to bend the hardline back a bit ti get to where the harness goes through the firewall. speaking of harness, removing this takes awhile longer than you might think. have someone to feed it up to you from undr the dash. and have a small pair of pliers and tiny flathead screwdriver to undo all the PITA clips. Also, you might wana retriever magnet for dropping that tiny screwdriver into the fender or something. I did that twice. if you get some vicegrips, WD40, and some tubing to cover the noses on the vicegrips (don't thrash up the hoses) it will make removing all the hoses alot easier. OH, AND WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHILE DOING THIS!!! I HAD AN EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE EXPERIENCE WHEN I WAS REPLACING MY FUEL FILTER AND TH LINE SUDDENLY POPPED OFF WITH ME TUGGING ON IT. FUEL IN EYES= REALLY, REALLY NOT FUN!

I wouldnt see why his stock suspension wouldnt hold-up, but the brakes wouldn't be a bad thing to look into during the swap. Just my .02 cents.

Uh, the stock suspension on the s13's over here is the same as in Japan. The Japanese have been running Sr's on that same suspension and it's not ok for us to do the same? Lol. Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

ya what are you talking about nismo? i cant immagine why he needs to spend money on suspension when he can TURN UP THE BOOST!!! but really, untill he wants to do it i dont think its really necesary. theres a dude here with his stock suspension on a beefy KA turbo. no problems for him.

Ok heres the latest , The clip came with 5 lug Dual piston brakes . Im upgrading to Tien coilovers HA , I have ST antisway bars and greddy strut bars , The headlight conversion is done and The car is in Primer as of today. I have chosen The new Cobra Blue ( Sonic Blue Pearl) for the paint , it looks great. The only thing I cant seem to get a good price on is the C-west front bumper and side skirts. The cheapest I have found is 480.00/420.00 plus shipping. I will start on the swap on Monday keep that advice coming Im gonna need it , Oh ya and with the SMIC with stock boost what do you think it will run . 3 inch down pipe , 3 inch cat back to good muffler. Ive heard that its possible to pull a high 13 with stock motor .

I have my original 170,000 miles suspension on my SR powered 240SX, and other than a slight alignment problem, I haven't had a single problem as of yet...

In fact, I raced a WRX with god knows what done (all I could visibly see was FMIC, exhaust, and gauges) and we were playing a game of catchup through turns through a forest preserve near me at over 100 MPH, yes on my stock 170,000 mile setup... I stuck the whole thing, didn't even squeal a tire...

The moral of the story is that suspension isn't absolutely necessary for an SR swap. If my example isn't good enough, I don't know what is.

I am 100% with Buud on this one. Speaking from experience, when I turn the boost up to around 10PSI (T28 BB) and make a run, stopping kind of helps..you can really feel the stock brakes barely cutting it, I can't describe it (kind of high atm, hehe) but you can just tell you need to upgrade them ASAP. Keep in mind I have brand new brake pads and resurfaced rotors as well.

stock suspension is really up to the task, stock brakes arn't (why do you think the S14 silvia came with a 4 pot brake settup, but then that should be on your clip to swap over if your lucky).

It uses the 26mm Z32 NA '90 brake rotor's BTW

My advise is read the wiring diagram like 7x before you actually start working on the car. Do as much homework as possible, and run through each and every step of the swap in your head before you even touch the car. Those simple steps will help you avoid all the stupid questions people of lesser intelegence seem to post on here on a regular basis.

BTW wehre at in FL are you from? There's a bunch of us in Orlando who could help you with the swap if you run into trouble.

I'm glad I upgraded to z32 26mm front brakes before starting the swap. I can't say enough about them the difference was huge for the price!

I'm half way thru my swap pulled the KA last night and SR is going in this morning. its nice I get full use of my Toyota dealership :D

Zaxx - If you arent squeeling tires, you arent driving hard enough. =-P

Moving or Touring - Next think i do is going to be Z32 brakes. Did you guys use the upgraded master too?

Bensons site(SileightyMania) says S13 SE rims clear Z32 brakes, I have read otherwise on NICO. Any clue?

Change the turbo to manifold gasket and the manifold to head gasket for sure, you don't want to have to replace those later on. I was also gonna say to take off the fenders, hood and front bumper so you dont dent, ding or scratch them in the process. Also clean the engine bay well and take your time.

I can't think of anything else...

On my S13 I ran the stock master, I did it on the S14 just because I had it laying around. It makes a difference but I wouldn't quite call it a "must have". But it dose make a nice improvement.

Forget the bodykit for now. I got a cheap one a long time ago and it was still a waste of money. You could spend that money on other more important mods like engine management and power upgrades. Cooling, fuel, etc. are all much more important that a C-West kit right now. Def. go with a FMIC and a nice, effective brake upgrade, if you want HE Tein's, more power to you. Just keep it objective and functional.

Ok , Well the only thing I am worried about is the wiring , I have a friend that knows nissan and he will be helping me with it. Is there a place i can get a pre made harnes from. Im from Englewood ( just below tampa) I would love to meet some other 240sx owners too. What can I do about the rear brakes , I need 5 lug for that also. 300zx or 240sx hubs .

Send it to Motorex in CA. They did mine (through Neishlin) and supposedly Ken is one of the best around. Now I am just waiting for Neishlin/Cartune to get their act together and send me my ECU and MAFS!

Hey sorry if I threw you off by mentioning ECU and MAFS, they just never sent them to me with the engine. All they need is your old KA harness and your new SR harness, both hopefully uncut. They splice the two together where appropriate and extend some wires for LHD. Usually costs $350-450. *SHOULD* take a week or less. In my case, the wiring took only a few days, but they told me it was taking longer because they didn't have the ECU and MAFS. I found out my harness has been done for awhile, but they are slacking on the parts I need.

Dude I'm in Orlando and I could do your harness in like 3 or 4 hours if you wanted to make arrangements to drop it off and pick it up later.

If you are driving on stock brakes...try to downshift at the same time when you are braking...helps stop way quicker, just go easy on the clutch though. That's my .02 cents.

I also have the Z32 brake upgrade, with steel braided lines sitting in my trunk...lol Gotta install those ASAP.

They already stop great, can't wait to feel 'em with the new lines.
