its real easy if you know what your doing. i'm 17 and i've done 3 motor swaps over the past summer. didnt know s*** about how to work on cars about a year ago lol. but this site is a good place to start to learn. pulling a motor is easy, replacing it is just about as easy, and rebuilding just takes research to do it right... and of course good tools to do the job. just go to the local forums and read up/google/ask other car people/ common sense/car fsm. i learned ALOT from nico and my local forum, kcda-online.com.Caveit77777 wrote:I'm just confused on how everybody on this site seems to know how to pull and rebuild an engine. Where did you guys even start to learn this?
Yeah I sorta learned today you can read as much as you can and learn some but experience is the best way. My aux fan sliced open my upper radiator hose because I'm guessing it stretched out and with high pressure it ballooned towards the fan and the fan sliced it open. So the fan threw anti freeze EVERYWHERE and smoke just started pouring so, my hood pops the oppisite way (BMW) and i was able to pop my hood while I drive.im_looking_for_a_240sx wrote:its real easy if you know what your doing. i'm 17 and i've done 3 motor swaps over the past summer. didnt know s*** about how to work on cars about a year ago lol. but this site is a good place to start to learn. pulling a motor is easy, replacing it is just about as easy, and rebuilding just takes research to do it right... and of course good tools to do the job. just go to the local forums and read up/google/ask other car people/ common sense/car fsm. i learned ALOT from nico and my local forum, kcda-online.com.
to the OP this build in NICE. i was going to rebuild my sohc ka but found a better deal. what you're doing was exactly what i was planning, full rebuild, make everything look new/nice, better parts, etc. i'm SUBSCRIBED! engine bay looks great
Thanks for the info, I'll probably cut it off or something. I think the left is for the A/C. That, I'm planning on keeping.OM3GA wrote:
This is for emissions stuff like the PAIR Valve and whatnot you dont need it, the smaller plug on the left idk what its for maybe for the Ambient air temp sensor. Either way you dont need either of those nor the power steering one.
If you need wiring let me know, i got a surprise for a lot of SR owners haha youll see a group buy coming up in the next couple months. If you need any Wiring work let me know.
Keep the updates comin! I cant wait to post my build thread, i am sick as hell right now probably nothing maybe just some swine action.

great build so far. keep it up!
lol, thanks guys. I think I started all this during Thanksgiving break. Then I had to go back to school till about December 8th-ish and every since then, its been about 10+ hours in the garage almost everyday. So if I were to guess, total is about 3-4 weeks of work. I started the engine bay around the beginning of last week. Cleaning 16 years of grime and sludge was definitely a task I would want to avoid for the rest of my life.breaker77 wrote:SICK build!
how long did it take to do the bay completely like that?
holy s*** thats a long time. you have some serious dedication man. at least its paying off! all i want for christmas is a frost white bay like that! hahaJtultra wrote:

It's an insulated wire to keep the signal from being distorted. The insulation stops like an inch or so before the plug and its the same gauge or similar as the other wires. I'm actually going to extend mine for the wire tuck and I'm going to cut some insulated wire from my older KA harness. hopefully, I'll be doing that today. AND hopefully someone will chime in and confirm my wiring will be correct. Mrgreeneyes???OM3GA wrote:Looks great! I'm wondering why that grey wire on the manual TPS is thicker than the others. I need to extend mine also, im just assuming it is just a lower gauge wire and does not have multiple wires inside. Have you spliced into yours yet? Is that correct?
My budget is $5,000. Im not really sure where I'm at now, but last time I was keeping track I was a little over 4500 and that was before I started selling parts from the car.YakshaXaio wrote:wow man you've inspired me to maybe try this just a couple questions...well only one how much is this costing you?
I cut it an inch or so before the plug. How you would extend shielded wire, well atleast what I think you should do... I had a junk harness wire shielded wire in it, I cut it out. Then I carefully cut the outer sleeving of the shielded wire, about half an down from where I plan to solder. Once you cut the outer sleeving, there is the actual "shield". Just clump it up and move it aside. then solder the wire, heat shrink, and then I re-wrapped the wire with that "shielding". I finished it off with electrical tape. Sorry if this sounds confusing, I just woke up. Let me know if you have anymore questions.OM3GA wrote:So whats up with the shielded TPS wire? Where do you cut the original one? Do you cut it after the shielding stops at that "inch" or so before the plug?
I dont quite understand the whole shielded wire thing and what you have to do to protect it.
Perfection is very important to me.
