well guys....i've asked enough questions...thought i'd share the mess i've been dealing with and where she's at now.

guess i'll start from the top. so when i got this car there was ALOT wrong with it. and by ALOT i mean ALOT. so far i've spent over 50 hours rewiring this car just so i don't burn to the ground driving down the street. i find it hard to believe that someone could talk sooooo much s*** to me and actually have the balls to tell me not to ****** rig the gauges in the car i gave him then hand me this piece of work. first things first...here's some of the before shots.......

this is the kind of wiring i've been dealing with. notice the HUGE main UNFUSED power wires bolted together with nothing more then a loose rag keeping them from shorting to ground.

and the power wire going through the firewall with a grommet that's way too small rubbing against bare metal hole, and the smaller one running between the main grommet and metal? oh..and that one is for the amp. so he ran a power wire from the back of the car to the front to hook up to the main wire going to the battery which is in the truck. instead of jsut running the amp wire across the trunk to the battery.

wire ties for radiator mounts

half asses twisted together and taped wires for the fan controller (they melted by the way from arcing against each other)

gauges that didn't even work cause something as simple as power and ground not being hooked up right

not to mention numerous other wires all being twisted and losely taped (including main ecu power wires and sensor wires) no wonder this thing ran like s***

it only made 180 whp on the dyno when i first got it......

here is a simple after pic since doing alot of rewiring. alot more has been rewired correctly since this picture too

new radiator mounts

now we get to the fun...where i've made a mess of things. had to do an oil change and the filter is in such a pita place that i decided to do an oil relocation kit and cooler at the same time so i only have to get under there once. needed to pull the manifold for a radiator breather anyway.

just waiting on the thermostat to get here so i can put it in and the oil system is done

some of you may have already read my timing belt thread but here goes anyway...while i had it apart i decided to take a look at the timing belt b/c i had a sneaking suspision something wasn't right....well guess what...i was right...several things were wrong....first off the belt was WAAAAAAAY too tight. so tight the idler pulley took the top layer of the belt off and caked it on the pulley. next there were some metal shavings on the tensioner pulley. i took it off and noticed the conical washer was on backwards. my guess is that let the tensioner pulley wobble which is bad for the internal bearing. last but not least the crank timing gear was on BACKWARDS!!!! this means there was no timing mark to line the belt up to when installing. WTF!!!!! oh...and the tensioner pulley has groves in it i can feel with my fingernail...all from the belt being too tight. again...WTF!!!!

cool. The crank timing piece isnt a big deal as long as it wouldnt rub anything or cause the belt to pull off. I never use the timing marks to set timing. Just put the motor to TDC and set your cams to the correct positions for #1 cylinder and your set.

Over tightening the belt seems to be a common issue with the RBs since they have not true way to tell when its just right. Im always scared it might not be tight enough.

Well looks like your making good progress, keep it up.

Hey now, do you have something against zip-ties for radiator brackets?? huh do ya?! LOL

I originally thought the Greddy IM would make changing the oil filter a PITA, but it isn't bad at all. Nice clean install on your setup though

Sounds like you got yourself a decent baseline setup and did your due diligence in verifying that everything was done properly (which it obviously was not). Kudos to you man!!

Wow, I would be scared to leave anything they touched unchecked after seeing the total mess they have made of things.

Holy crap man! the intake mani looks amazing! So much better than the gray cast aluminum look. What is the finish called? wrinkle? Also what fuel rail are you using, i didnt see it in your description but i might have missed it. What turbo manifold is that? It looks like the S-Tec one i just ordered for my RB. The oil filter relocation kit / cooler is amazing as well. i will DEFINITELY be doing this at some point now after seeing how clean it turned out on the frame rail like that. makes oil changes a breeze

keep up the good work! Im subscribed now.

thanks for the comments guys. it's been alot of work and is starting to come together finally. the fuel rail is actually cheapo OBX...i figured hey, it's be pretty hard to mess up a fuel rail as long as everything lines up! LOL the only thing is i had to get longer spacers. the finish on the manifold is wrinkle lack powdercoating...timing cover and a few other parts are done the same and the valve covers have been redone in wrinkle red. i'll get better pics once it's all back together. just have o paint the throttle body (couldn't podwercoat due to seals)

the turbo mani is by exodic speed. was sold to me as a tophat but is much nicer.

s14 sport....not sure why quoting isn't working for me but i love your setup...exactly what i'm going for! i'm in the process of painting the throttle body and i'm gonna have the IC pipes powder coated the same as the mani...only shiney thing left in my engine bay will be the radiator! i'm not a fan of shiney!

the fitment is just about perfect except for one thing. the spacers and mounting bolts they send are too short. they are designed for the rb26 manifold. luckily i had a buddy who could cut me some new spacers. they just need to be twice as long as the ones that come with the rail. took all of 5 minutes. and the bolts i got from ace hardware. so not a huge deal. you could prolly grab some aluminum stock from any hardware store for cheap and cut them yourself as well

The picture of your oil cooler set up, You have the block adaptor which looks to house 2 10AN fittings. Where did you get that fitting? I have been looking, did you have to install another block stud to use this or it just screws on the factory one?

Do you have $4.00 dollars to spend? If you do this is what I suggest. Go to the local gas station and buy a gallon of gas. Then soak that b**** with gas. Stand back, throw a match and watch that piece of s*** burn baby. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
