I have used those MOROSO cooler/filters on when we built some ultimate 4X4. It works very well in rear appplication where you have radiator mounted in the back (in the bed of a truck) and transmission power steer pump coolers tied up with radiator out of the harms way!I am not sure how well it would perform in a hi perormance transmission! It might not be adequate for the application. You need something with large area to have a good cooling unless you use an electric fan to assist cooling. Then you might be able to use inline type cooler. I am planning to put remote type transmission filter (permacool.com) make one that looks promising! If you use filter, rate of particles going trough you transmission will be reduced significantly!Friend of mine has Ford Bronco (the beautiful 1976) modified to the gills with Windsor 351 and C6 (both modified) and tran/motor/p-s pump have external fan assisted coolers. I have seen gauges in the cab after doing some serious off-road (Boulder park in Colorado has some amazing trails) Not even a slight hint on overheating, that is where tems well over 100F and alitude well over 5-6K feet! Like you guys said the cooler the better (to an extend of course). Cheers!Rex wrote:Here's a Moroso unit that's both a cooler and a filter
Detailed DescriptionCombination cooler/filter uses efficient "Heat Sink" configuration to dissipate the excessive heat build up in racing transmissionsMade of aluminum with 500 sq. inches of radiation surface for high heat transferFilter with magnet removes all wear particles over 4 microns in sizeDimension: 3" in diameter, 12" in length, and weighs only one poundVery easy to install; not recommended for street useComes complete with filter cartridge and all necessary installation instructions
