1)i have a 96 blacktop sr20. it has an oil problem. it leaks oil from the pan and from the breather on the catch can. the catch can is a custom tig welded one. Now the guy who did my swap told me that theres a problem with the "oil pressure reducer" he explained that too much oil is being pushed through the system and i need to find the right "reducer" for my turbo setup, gt2860rs. do any of you know what this is and how it can be fixed?

2)i recently checked my oil and it was real low so i put 3/4 a quart in and it was full. after a few days of starting it up, i checked it again and it was really low again. Does the fresh oil i put in go to the catch can as well? and when i do an oil change, do i have to drain the oil out of the catch can?

once i get all this oil crap fixed, my car will be ready for tuning which i need desperately because my car is running really rich.

if you dont have the correct oil restrictor for your turbo then more oil will go into the turbo then its built to handle and the pressure, or volume will blow your turbos oil seals and youll have oil in your compressor housing, or comin out your hot side, dose it smell like your burning oil??

theres blue smoke coming out of the breather, what does that usually mean?

if it was me, i would look into rebuilding the turbo, it sounds like the damage is done and then only way to fix it is a rebuild

exhaust will smoke alot or oil will be in your intercooler and piping or both. My oil return line kinked n blew the seals on a s15 turbo with 3k miles It almost happened again! I fixed it last night.

the problem is that you have bad piston rings, did you do a compression test?the reason you have air leaks from the catch can is due to "blow by" the rings are the cause of that. i had the same problem and when i did my compression test on my motor after i did the install i had less than 90psi in each cylinder. after driving it for about a month i had 10psi on compression so just keep an eye on it and check your compression.

How is it possible that nobody has suggested PCV replacement. If your PCV is not working properly it will over pressurize the crankcase causing leaks from the oil pan, front cover or even valve cover gaskets. It can also push oil vapors out the breather into the intake system.

When you replace the oil restrictor, also be sure to check the oil drain on the bottom of the turbo it will have the same effect as an over sized restrictor.

Positive Crankcase Ventalator.

It is a one way check valve located on the passenger rear of the valve cover, it is connected to a black hose that runs into the intake manifold.

It is called the PCV valve, and Im not positive, but I would believe that the FWD SR20 would use the same part, though I have never looked closely.
