Yup that's what they are I saw them on a 240 and they looked really nice in this size... I can't seem to find a pic of them on a 240 though!

I hope you didn't get the 205/40/17 that are typically associated with such sizes.....

I have not gotten the tires yet because I got the rims online... what size do you think I should get? What brand/tread ? This is my daily driver and i'm not going to use *this* set of wheels for anything more then hard driving. I need a set of tires that lasts a long time has good grip wet/dry... I slid 10 feet comming to a stop in the rain with the crap I have now... the old owner (my sister) put general tires on it... what do you expect for $40 each... yuck!

I usually get my tires at Sams or Costco because they have good warrantees. It's amazing how many times I have had them give me brand new wheels for free because I got a nail in my tires or something!! (I have five cars and one is a dully pickup so it adds up!)

Those Sokudo's are 17x7 +40, not a big upgrade over S14 SE wheels. Sell one of your beaters and buy better wheels for the 240. It deserves it.

Check out Chet's Tire FAQ for some recommendations. IIRC, Kumho 712s and Yokohama ES100s are good tires for rainy weather.

Here is the thing.. I don't have SE wheels I have steelies with sucktacular tires... I needed to get better tires but I did not want to spend a lot on tires for these crapy steel rims! So.... I wanted wheels that looked better for cheap so I could get better tires for the this daily driver!! if i'm going to go to an event I do not plan on running these rims... see my point?

Well if your'e going to not spend much on rims, please spend the money you saved on some really good tires. Do a search on TireRack and check out their tests.

My opinion: Get some Bridgestone Potenza RE950's (categorized as a high performance all season) it's based on their F1 rain tire design. I've had them on my first S13 since Fall 2003, and they're still on my 2nd S13 now. The treadwear is still fine, and wet weather traction hasn't deminished. They are very stiff for being OEM tire size (205/60/15) I have autocrossed on them, bombed down backroads, and driven through torrential downpours (it raines a LOT here in DE). They're on the expensive side, but i wouldn't skimp on tires, and they do last. They have a 400 treadwear rating which is pretty good for what they are. The Avon M550 (either the summer tire or all season) placed a close 2nd to the Potenza's in Tire Rack's tests, and the only thing that has surpassed (marginally) the Potenza is the Michelin Exalto A/S.

Anyway, best place to research a tire is TireRack, read their test results, and check out reviews from people who own RWD vehicles.

I'm afraid i have to agree Iwannas15 you might want to try a different wheel. No offense buy you probally shouldnt have even bought them in the first place, is your car a s13 or s14? You said you wanted wheels that looked a little better but im afraid these will look pretty much wack on your car. you might be able to pull it off in an s13 but if you have an s14 the wheel wells are way to big to fit such a narrow rim and with the addition of skinny tires (which I assume your going to put low profiles) it just going to look retarded on the s14

I have an S13 and I think they looks good on the S13 i'm going to get tires that are 40/R17 it will be the same size as a 60/R15 (What's on the car now) same offset and slightly wider... you know how small the difference is from a 32mm offset to a 40mm? it's very small and i'm not into my wheels being 100% flush.. that's just my taste... I knew what I was buying.

I cant see why you wouldnt want them to be flush, but whatever, its your car. Just seems sorta pointless to upgrade wheels, and buy some ebay ones that aren't any wider than your stockers.

I like the wheels flush on the S14 and on the 350Z I don't know why (maybe because I grew up with this S13) I like how it looks with the stock offsets...

You know the difference between a 40mm offset and a 32mm is 3/10th of an inch... I was told not to go under a 32mm on my car by more then one wheel shop

BTW will this size fit these wheels? 205/40ZR17 The first number is With right? then Thickness then the wheel size?

stock rims are 15x6.5", these are 17x7. There for you could put on a 225, instead of a 205 tire.

Well thats weird, but ok whatever. first number is width, second is the percentage of the width that the sidewall is(aspect ratio). third is rims size. I would not put 215 tires on there. You arent really gonna get any more tire contact because they will be slightly bulged out. a 205 is a perfect fit, and will not slop around as much as a wider tire would. BTW, what kind of tires are you going to get?

Sorry that first post may not have been very clear.

I have 17x7s and run a 225/45-r17 tire. I dont think that a 205 tire will fit, if it does it will look very streched.

By the way, I think that the wheels will look good and dont know why everyone isn't liking them so much. I almost bought those for my car at one time.

That's why I was asking I was confused about what size would fit if 225 is what it's supposed to have that's what i'm getting I don't want to stretch them... I like the rims that's all that really matters I knew that a lot of people would not like the offset but hey i'm fine with it... People put some very ugly wheels on 240s and I keep my mouth closed... I think Super Advans are UGLY on a 240!!... there I said it :P

16x7 +32 front 16x8+35 rear.

205/55/16 and 225/50/16.

Sorry that pics are mainly of the rear. I need to get more. The fronts fit exactly like the rear, so you get the idea.

They fit perfect. They may appear to have a slight stretch, but that is only because of how thick the rim protector bar is in the sidewall. 205 would fit great on a 17x7, 215 would work fine too, but 225 is pushing it. If i had pics, of my friends jetta, I would show them to you. He mounted some low profile tires on the stock 16x7 rims. they are 215/40s, and its obvious that they are slightly too wide. No reason to go bigger than 215 other than looks. I dont think the rims are ugly, just not a good style for the 240, but hey, you found some rims that you like for cheap, so more power to ya.

So 215/40/r17 or 215/45/r17 ??

The 215/40/r17s are like $10 cheaper per tire (same model tire) then the 215/45/r17s

I checked and 215/45/r17 would be the EXACT same size as the 15s with 205/60/r15s

Which should I go with? I know I will feel the bumps more with the 40s but will they handle better then the 45s?

If you want to save a little money then get the 40. While 215 are the best size, 225's do not look to big for the rim. I'll see if I can't take a pic of my rims when I get home from work.

I was planning to use 225/50 on a 16x7" wheels, but seeing how 225/50's look naed's wheels makes me wonder if it will bulge too mcuh...

hey, Kenrik i wasnt trying to knock your wheels or anything and I'm sorry if I came off like I was trying to; but if I had the choice between the 40 series or the 45 series tire I would probally go with the 45 series because it gives you a little extra sidewall so it will "fill in" your wheel wells a little more. Also I would go with the 215 width over the 225 width because I had similiar wheels about 3 years ago and I put 225's on it and the tire sort of bulged around the rim which made it look akward and I wished I would have put 215 on it instead. But remeber that every tire mounts alittle different. well this is just my opinion anyway take it as you wish

thats an odd price difference. The difference in overall diameter will be more than 3%, which is not reccomended. However, that difference will only be enough to set you speedometer of by 2mph at 60, which isnt much. Im sure that my 4.4 diff had more of an effect than that. You will notice better acceleration, but top out quicker in each gear. IMO, the 40's would look really ugly unless your car is lowered pretty far, but yes, they will have slightly quicker response, but will also make it more likely to damage those rims. I thank god everyday that I dont have 40s on my car, because the coilovers are so stiff. The ride would suck with some low profile tires. So in summary, I guess Im reccomending the cheaper, better performing low pro ones. What tires are they?

215/45/17

you live in Florida, you dont need to worry about snow

therefore go with the ones i have, avon tech m500, in the size i mentioned

these tires grip better in rain then my old ones did in dry

also a 215/40 wont look good at all, itll look like you have rubber bands around your wheels

i would go with a 205-45 on a 17x7. ive used 225s on 7'' wide rims, and its not a good idea to do at all. the sides of the tires start to buldge, and makes your car do weird things handeling wise. right now i have 205-50s on the front of my 16x7s and theyre perfect. 205s are what is supposed to be used with a 7'' wide rim. a wider tire on a thiner wheel is def not good as you will loose some steering response, and input feel while turning hard. btw, i just got my new tires mounted on my enkeis the other day. i got the hankook rs2s, and damn are they fuking schweeet man! i went with 205-50 16x7 fronts, and 225-50 16x8 in the rear. at $85 bux a pop, one can afford to go through a set of these every 3 months or so. ooooooooo weeeeeee its that sticky icky icky!

Ok now i'm confused again.. you're saying go with a 205? that's what I was originally looking at... (they are $20 less per tire to) what is a 7 inch wide rim SUPPOSED to have on it? I was looking at the Dunlop Sports they were rated good on tirerack (8.2 out of 10)

the 215/45/r17s are $90 each 205/45/r17s are $70 each

That is what I have been trying to tell you. Thank you J-z. 205 fits the best.
