I don't think the Nissan is big enough.

*gets on the soapbox

So I don't really get why people wear like racing shirts and all that stuff daily. It's not really a petpeeve but it's like such an advertisement. Then those same people have the audacity to say to me that they think the coach logo on my bags are tacky and trying to gauge attention.

Ok, we all know you're into cars, that's why we're all here but I just don't get why some people feel the need to broadcast it all the time. Girls in particular. "cars are my life" and they go around wearing "girlie girl racing" shirts and stuff.

Ok... sorry. This isn't targetted at you personally, Alan. That pic just reminded me of a mild annoyance that I haven't expressed openly yet and felt this was the opportune moment.

Bah. Car shirts are cheaper than designer clothes. I like wearing the 2 car shirts i have every once n' a while, they have actually gotten dirty and turned into shirts for only that purpose. They consist of just a ShiftGear shirt with a Supra on the back, and my speednation S13 shirt. I'm looking to get some datsun shirts to replace 'em--speednation.com has some nice designs. I also designed in photoshop a shirt that said : "silvia: all in the family" and on the back it had pics of all the Silvias i like, from the s12 up to the s15. Then it got shrunk in the wash--damn 50/50 material.

>Girlie Girl Racing< that crap pisses me off, that isn't an actual team, or anything significant at all. It's just a clothing line with nothing to back it up. Whenever i see cars with those damn decals they usually are on stock automatic Neons, 3rd gen Eclipses, or Civic coupes. I think there's this black 04 civic coupe that rolls around on campus, with HUGE pink a$$ stars going down the sides, and a Vermont plate that reads: CARGRL. You drive a Civic with stars on it, yeah, your'e into cars allright. The real kind of cars. PFFFT.

I am actually going to get my windows tinted so that no one knows i'm a girl. I don't like attention--i abhor it. i like to drive in peace.

It's got Nissan ... and the word LeMans... did I mention it's JDM? ... it is the coolest god damn shirt on the market!

It puts the shirt on the skin!

Soooo...it's not OK to wear an article of clothing related to a hobby or just something you like? So, If I like whales, I shouldn't wear a t-shirt with a whale on it?

If I was a huge Toyota or Subaru fan, I'd get a kick out of wearing an article of clothing with that company's logo on it. I don't give a **** about advertising. I wouldn't wear it because I was paid to, I'd wear it because I like it and I like the products the company manufactures.

It's different from people who wear designer stuff just because it's a status symbol and they feel the need to "keep up" with others. There's a difference between wearing something because you like the product or subject matter and wearing something because of some feeling of inadequacy.

There. That's my mini-rant.

BTW, that shirt rocks and I want one!

I like solid dark colors. No logos.

I remember I walked into The Gap and saw two of my friends working there. She goes "How about this?" and I said "No, it says GAP on it."

It's perfectly ok. I have a few that I wear to car events and meets etc. But I am talking about people who only own car shirts and wear it religiously as if they have to advertise that they are car nuts.

I'll admit that most of my clothing and accessories were purchased for status symbol. Not for the need to "keep up" with others but because I've worked hard and I make enough money to be able to afford the finer things in life. Inadequacy? Hardly. I can wear a $2 dollar tshirt from Walmart and feel as comfortable and confident as I would in a $200 tshirt from a high end designer label.

My point was more targetted towards ricers who wear those shirts to be "cool". Like Sky said, there are a TON of girls around our area (PA/NJ/DE) who have girlie girl racing stickers, shirts, and all that good stuff who know nothing about their vehicles.

They make $200 tshirts?! Who on earth could afford that? I think most of my shirts are 3-4 years old.

Then again, maybe it's time I got some new shirts...

i think some of my tees are from highschool wOot!

honestly, i don't see what all the rage is about designer clothes, or expensive clothes for that matter. albeit, looking like a bum with tattered shirts/jeans is bad, but looking like your loaded isn't good either. That makes you a target to get mugged IMO. That has to be true no matter what area you live in.

Haha. See, people think that if you own expensive clothes you'll get mugged etc. That's not true. I live in the city. I go to school in a very safe neighborhood. I've never been mugged and I wear expensive jewelry and clothes all the time. And I don't "look" rich to people who aren't rich, i.e. I am a jeans a tshirt kinda girl but I generally wear designer jeans like Sevens and Citizens that are upwards of 120 a pop. So to those who would be doing the mugging, they look like regular jeans.

If I want to spend my money on a pair of jeans that I think makes me feel sexy and look good, then I should be able to do it without people guilt tripping me about it. As long as that's not my only concern in life, which if it isn't obvious by now based on my posts on here, isn't then I don't see why it should bother anyone.

EDIT: and my most comfy and favorite t shirts are old vintage gym tees from HS.

Honestly, just wear what you wanna wear is how I see it. If higher priced clothing makes you feel better then by all means wear it. If cheaper or well used clothing makes you feel comfy then by all means wear it.

I can definitely understand that. I'm that way about cars. I refuse to drive anything "less" while others could really give a ****. It feels good to me -- I could drive a Sentra to school but I really dig that Infiniti logo (and that growling V8). So while you have your $200 shirts, I have my $3800 car that rapes me at the parts counter and costs $40 at the pump for premium.

I am so drunk right now. Third night in a row.

LOL!

Well some of you know where I stand.

For those who dont, I have about $1200 in sneakers and Timberland boots. Most expensive is the $134 Jordans.

I have $150-200 sweat suits/velour suitsMy clothes are mostly designer(Rocawear, Pelle Pelle, Sean Jean, Enyce, ect...), but I always get them from the Bronx because they're cheaper.

But like Vicki, I also love wearin the plain cheap stuff. Its all the same to me. Plus plain white T-Shirts are the ****.

As far as getting mugged, when you go through NY, PA, CT this is the stuff you see every day. Even the lower class is wearing name brand stuff. Nice jewelry? Unless you're in a BAD part of town, then maybe but cut chances are that you wont get mugged. You have to REEEAAALY be flaunting your goods to get mugged. And thats probably some1 thats annoyed with how you think you're all that.

Like I said times are different now. When I go to the Bronx, You see Escalades, H2s, Mercedes SLs, SC 430s, ect... just parked on the street. And no1 touches em. Yea some may be drug cars, but I know for a fact that many aren't. Nice things are everywhere now. Chances of getting mugged are pretty slim.

Just my $.02

I enjoy wearing nice clothes, but many of them aren't designer clothes. you dont have to have designer clothes to look nice. There are plenty of more cost effective brands out there. I just like to save a little money now and again.

I dont understand the point of designer clothes, since the cheaper clothes often looks identical no one else will know the difference.

With cars, there's a tremendous difference in luxury, quality and performance as you spend more (unless its a Mercedes).

With clothes however, the same identical thing -can- be had for a lower price. I guess it feels good? I'd feel more like an idiot for supporting the coke industry err I mean fashion industry.

You can DEFINITELY tell between cheap clothes and designer clothing. The quality and fit is always better.

I have a good mix of both. I'll wear a $5 tshirt with a $150 pair of jeans. *shrugs.

Youre right. I watched Oprah one day (hey shut up! all of you shut the hell up!) and they showed two models, one wearing a $1200 black dress and another wearing a $19 one from K-Mart. The difference was definitely there, but subtle unless you had a direct visual comparison side by side. There was also a difference in how the material felt.

But I just didnt see the difference as being worth the price. Its like paying $30,000 to upgrade to power windows. Its a lot nicer, but is it worth it?

White undershirts are the shiat to wear....so comfy and light and just awesome. When I do buy clothes, I buy the good ones...but I hate spending money on clothes, when I could be spending it on something fun.

My solution is simply that I rarely wear shirts, especially in the summer time. I don't wear shoes either, just flip flops and a pair of shorts that probably came from Marshalls or Ross (cheap name brand stuff). Spending money on clothes is something I hate, but getting new clothes is always nice.
