So it has been a long while since I have posted. I have been in lurking mode though. Lol. I recently got a new toy and then about a month ago I received PCS orders to Norfolk VA. I was going to have a moving company just pack and move it, but figured I could make some extra money and gain some items doing it myself. My wife will probably take a million Pics on the trip so Ill also use this to chronicle our Trip. Our plan is to drive up to WY and stay a few weeks to visit the wifes fam and then continue on to VA.

First off is my new Suburban. It was a completely stock LT 4x4 when I first bought it. I have since added 22" Foose wheels, a DVD Navigation, back up camera, a 12 inch Fosgate P3 and 500 watt fosgate amp and another 14 inch screen and DVD player in the rear.

Image

Parts I have on the way for the beast are Green stuff supreme brake pads, cross drilled and sloted rotors, larger Trans cooler, Bully dog Triple Dog GT Tuner, and a Curt reflex brake controller with plug and play wiring.

I just bought this today to haul my stuff. Its 24x8x8. It is a massive trailer and will easily hold my Kouki and most of my stuff in the house. My theory is it doesnt fit it doesnt go.

Image

I bought a anti sway hitch for this bad boy today.

Any Suggestions or ideas/reviews for my present or future upgrades appreciated.

I guess you really don't like having furniture, huh...

Thanks man. It sucks we never got to hang out. But I vow to return. I have to stay in VA for 2 years but then I can request to come back. Although I would like to try out Japan for a few years. lol

Another thing:

Why are you driving up to Wyoming and then here? You're adding significant travel time.

I like furniture. The trailer is pretty big. 24ft long 8 feet wide and 8ft tall. I plan on building a reinforced box around my car so I can easily pile stuff above and around it with no fear. Also I plan on getting new couches when I get there.

It would have been much cheaper to just ship the car, lol.

I took 30 days of leave to go up there. So I have a total of 46 days to drive to VA. I figured we may as well stop so the wife can visit the family while we have the chance. I never know when Ill get time off to go visit.

I checked on it and it was about 800 to ship the car alone to VA. So I figured that I may as throw it in there. lol. There is plenty of room.

Okay/ I'm not downing your decision, but I'm saying you think there's alot of room until you pack it in there.

I helped my friend move once and he only had one room of stuff, it took up a whole 18 foot box truck with higher clearance then you have.

Anyone in the military is an effing MASTER at packing a metric s***ton of stuff into insanely small spaces. Have you ever seen the inside of a sub?

I'm sure laziness and poor packing skills had nothing to do with that. :)

24' trailer with a Kouki inside leaves roughly 8' x 8' x 6' for furniture. I moved Bex to AZ with an 8x8 trailer, and she had a damn piano to stuff in there. :)

I don't know if I'd go to the hassle of "building a box"... I'd measure the car, make a tape line on the floor where the car will wind up, pack the FRONT of the trailer with all your crap, strap it securely, and pull the car in behind it (also strapped down well).

Don't forget, you can pack a crapton of stuff IN the Suburban and the Kouki.

Another moving tip: If you are taking your dressers with you, leave all of your clothes in them. That way you don't have to worry about extra boxes for the clothes or the wasted space. Good luck on the move, have fun on your vacation. :)

You should be able to fit most of you stuff in there if you plan it before you start putting it in.

I hope it goes smoothly for you. :)

I am def good at packing. When I deploy I have to fit all my body armor, gear and things I need into 3 duffel bags. I usually have extra room for some goodies like my x-box. I also typically move on average of every 8 months or so. Lol. I moved my family home before deployment using only a ford edge with a roof bag so this trailer is actually a hundred steps up. Lol

The Kouki will def be packed full of stuff. lol. The back of the burb though will have our kennel with our spoiled dog in it. I also figure that if I had to I could put a roof bag on top but I think Ill have enough room. I think I will try it with out the box. Luckily I dont have a piano. lol. I can always build a box after if I need too. I called it a box but it will be more of a shelf. Thanks for the ideas.

We will def be filling the drawers. The bigger drawers are a perfect size for my PS3, XBox and wii with some extra room for padding around them. I also am going to fill my chest freezer and washer dryer full of clothes and smaller things. I am a firm believer of packing things into ever nook and cranny. Thank you. I love this truck. Plenty of room and comfy to boot. It was actually very difficult to find 4x4 down here in socal. 99% of them here are 2wd and the 4x4s are usually modded and lifted.

That will def be appreciated. My kouki is still very much a work in progress however I hope to finish her someday. Now that all my vehicles are paid off I can start throwing more money at her. Im very lucky that it never has any maintenance issues and runs like a top.

I actually am looking into that new viper alarm that you can control from your iPhone just to be safe. Haha. But I'm trying to find it a little cheaper. So far 2 places I checked want about 1100. Lol.

Nice Suburban. GMT800s are generally strong trucks.

Thank you. It does run very well and I've put a
Lot into it. When I got her she was bone stock. But I quickly added wheels and stereo/av. I also had to do the water pump which is common on these. I am pretty big on PM but I'm going all out for this trip. Lol. The trailer is pretty big and I'm going to be packing the heck out of it. I need a cool name like ducky for it though to give it more personality. Everyone at work just calls it murder machine. Lol

Another good tip is to put your socks inside your shoes. BTW nice burb. I've got a '93 with 320K miles on it. That 454 sure moves.

DITY move?

Be careful claiming the car as weight an NCO here recently got busted for that. Also, that trailer isn't claimable weight either. Stupid rules.
