I lost my licence because I got 2 stop sign violations, 1 speeding 10mph over the limit, and one illegal u-turn all in one year. That brings my points over 12 in a year and that suspends my licence for 6 months.

And I'm 24 btw. I learned to drift in GT3 with a steering wheel when I was 14, I been drifting in real life since I was 16, I got ballsy when I got my rwd nissan sports car (300zx) and started doing it like you see in the video since I was 18, and I have a video on this forum soemwhere and on youtube called 240sx drifting 2 Florida 2007 that has clips of me in a drift event at Desoto Speedway.

You'll find there are many drifting/racing enthusiasts here on NICO, but not many that support people that do it via the cheap/reckless route by doing it on public roads. Sorry.

I think it would be funny as hell to find out who this kids parents are and forward the vids to them and let them know he's hiding money from them to go do this on public roads.

They've known about it for a while, they just get mad about it and make it impossible for me to keep any money, they have their ways. That whole issue was before I moved out last year. Now thanks to me being laid off and then loosing my licence I have to live here again. I'll be moved back out in october when I get my licence back... assuming I'm able to get a job up on this damned mtn that is. I hate living in a small town without a licence.

As a parent, I can understand your folk's concerns, especially if you've returned living with them as an adult. I imagine their expectation would be if you're not contributing toward their household expenses, which is not unreasonable, that you're at least saving your money to get yourself re=established at your own place sooner. Spending your remaining money (or unemployment) on your drift car could easily be viewed by them as wasteful and immature.

Actually you nailed it on the head. Because back then I DID have a job but was not making enough to get my own place so I was just paying them rent and whenever I had any extra spending money I'd spend it on car parts instead of on drugs and partying like all my friends do and they would get pissed off about it. So when I got promoted to manager and was finally making enough I moved out. Problem solved... till I got laid off.

Now I'm home with no licence and no job and I have no money PERIOD. They wont let me have any. Not even to buy a soft drink or lunch with when I walk to town looking for a job when it's 97 degree's out and I have to walk 3 miles to town from 9am to 3pm... f*** bastards. Excuse my engaging the swear filter... But still it's rediculous. I couldn't buy anything for my car if I wanted to and it would be pointless to now anyway since I cant drive it. They just want to make me suffer for living here rent free.. and they're f*** rich as hell. It's just spitefull.

Your parents are not being spiteful, you're not seeing the big picture. You're ignoring the value of what your parents are giving you while you are between jobs. They are providing you a home, food, laundry, TV, phone, a/c, etc.
It makes no difference how wealthy they are. The fact they won';t give you the equivalant of an "allowance" (spending money) is totally normal given that you're a grown man in his 20s. Instead of taking it out on them, you should instead be thanking them for their helping you out until you get back on your feet.

I'm sure they're not trying to make you suffer, but they are probably trying to give you a wakeup call about the importance you've put on your hobby (drifting). I know you're not spending money on it right now, but the reality is you are stuck at home because you did not have a big enough nest egg (savings) to carry you thru the unemployment(which can happen to anyone). Drifting is a very expensive hobby. As intoxicating as it is, it's still just a hobby, and should be a lower priority than you appear to have it.

Your parents are not your enemy here. If they didn't love you, you wouldn't be living with them. Just remember, someday you might have your own children that will think the same as you do now. Trust me, your perspective will change drastically.

True that. Your pretty smart.. I honestly have no real reply for that. It just hurts to see them livin it up while I sit here and suffer. I have manic depression and drifting is my escape so I'm pretty much going insane without it. That's why it has so much importance to me. It's honestly the only thing in life that I care about and I just WISH i could do it legally SO FREAKIN BAD. And since my ps3 got stolen in 2007 I haven't been able to get a gaming set up to be able to get the drifting out of my system safely so not being able to drive at all even pretty much is a detrimental blow to me. The only good thing about this is when (hopefully) I get a job up here I wont have any expenses so I can move back out ASAP and even be able to get a game system back again and i'm inheriting my grama's honda and it's not a drift car andwill keep me out of trouble. And maybe I'll even be able to afford to drift the 240 at the track again some day.

I can understand the frustration of having no job, and I'm sure it wont be long before you're working again will be able to move out and replace that PS3. You just need some patience before getting back into drifting as you're starting from scratch financially. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just reality.

As far as the finding legal places to drift, I'm not sure where you live but there are many drift/car clubs out there that hold events or finds places to drift other than on public roads. Heck, even NICO hosts a very inexpensive drift/autocross event every May in central PA.

Good luck.

I have a friend just like you.

Just like I said to him, quit whining and get a job at McDonald's or something already. You also need to find a cheaper hobby if drifting is your "escape". It's not exactly the hobby of poor people. Some people just can't live within their means, and some people just view a s*** job as something beneath them. Suck it up, buttercup, and maybe your "manic depression" won't come about any more.

Dude, I don't really want to be a jackass here, but you're forcing my hand. Joel is being gentle with you. Suffer? I wonder what word you'd use to describe what people who are experiencing REAL tragedies are going through.

And, more importantly, quit blaming your parents for you being unable to do what you want to do. How disrespectful. I don't care what they're doing with their money. It's theirs! Fact is, you've got a roof over your head and food in your stomach and you aren't paying a dime for it. Not to mention, they've provided you with that for roughly 24 years now. Quit bitching. Yeah, it would be awesome to have parents who were raking in millions every year and we could all just mooch off of them forever and do whatever we wanted. I got news for you, that's not how the real world works. You've had twenty-plus years to figure this out. You want something to cry about? Go find kids who were molested by their parents. Or maybe those who were abandoned at a young age. Or those who have addicts for parents who spend all their money on drugs rather than food/clothes for their kids. Comparatively, you've had a sweet life so far.

I can't help but point out how much this bothers me. Seriously is a major problem facing our country today: people blaming others for their unhappiness. McDonald's made me fat. Pepsi made me a diabetic. Blah. Blah. Blah. Take some f*** ownership of your life/choices.

Lol. ^ This. My 18th birthday present was first months rent free. I was raised on food stamps, got free lunch in school, and shoes from the salvation army. My dad left her when i was 7 so he could sling gay sex in nyc for meth. (He is now dieing of AIDS and cancer) Sooo even after paying my mom $350 a month for a year or two she still decided it wasn't enough, and told me i had 2 months to leave, no amount of rent would keep me there. Lol she turned my room into a guest room =) Anyways, i still appreciate the fact that she was trying to help us out, cause one day she won't be there and we need to be prepared. No one gets a free ride, why should i be allowed to live in the house she is working to pay for? Her obligation is years 1-18, i am happy to have my own place now.
So don't go thinking your parents are doing anything but helping you out.

Guys, the OP mentioned something significant that you might be overlooking. He admitted that he has manic depression. Another term for that is bi-polar. I know a few people that have MD in varying degrees, and can be difficult to live with. I think the MD helps explain some of his misdirected anger and sharp focus on his hobbies. In many cases MD is treatable (not cureable) via prescription drugs, assuming you have a prescription plan. OP not asking for a free pass, and I'm not suggesting he get one for his choice to drift on streets, but I believe some compassion is due.
