What headache?

BTW, how do you like the little tractor pistons (cold slap)? I love mine, but can't get used to the cold slap.

Hope you get it all sorted out soon!

First off, don't be fag. Second, whats happens in Iraq stays in Iraq, and last, that guy is quite possible the most carknowlegdeful person I have ever meet.

And headace as in no down pipe to cat pipe, which is ok cause running open header is BA. And I was told by the company that sold me the kit that I wouldn't have to relocate the battery, and I do, and I didnt have the stuff to do it, and I did have the time yesterday to do it. But today should be the day.

**UPDATE**Made the car drivable so I could do a few test runs and see how it feels. About an hour into it I hear a metal-on-metal grinding noise from the front left. At first I assumed it was a bad wheel bearing given the car had sat in the same place for the better part of a year. It gets worse and started making the noise when I wasn't moving. This is when I get concerned. I pull over and pop the hood and and notice that when the grinding accures, the turbine stops rotating for a second and then picks right up. Its take it doing it for the third time for me to realize that the turbo it off balance and is rubbing the housing. I quickly turn the car off and after it cools down I move the turbo shaft up and down and it has WAY more play than it should. I said my fair share of curse words and called a tow truck. Next day we do some poking around and come to the conclusion that the oil feed line was too small and there was sht for oil pressure. I have as of now fixed the oil pressure problem, but I am without a turbo. Luckly I still have some Iraq money left so I can cover it, but I don't like buying turbo's like Bic Macs.

Dude that really sucks... what size oil feed line did you have going into the turbo and did you have a restrictor on it? Whatever having to get a new potato blows...sorry man.

I'm not sure of the size of the oil feed line, but it was kinda small. Given this is my first build up and first turbo experience I don't know that much, but my friends at the local shop have been a HUGE help.

Test the "Turbonetics 1 year, no hassle warranty", if they are nice they will give you a new one without questions.

Hrmmm..that looks pretty tempting. Maybe I should opt for a used K24de motor and have my cousin help me rebuild it for boost. What was your reason why you picked the K24 instead of a SR20 besides that it is more displacement?

Well, you names one of the reasons - the obvious displacement difference. Besides that, the rest of the reasons were pretty much my personal taste. I picked the KA because of the parts avalibility and the fact that I've only ever met one other person in person that has a KA-T. I really can't put into words the other reasons. I just like the motor.

One thing I have noticed ever since joining this forum is that there are more people swapping in SR20's and then selling the whole car shortly down the line. I am only guessing these guys/gals do it as a "fad". As for me, I am really considering just doing a KA-t instead of going the SR20Det route. From my calculations, it would be more reasonable and more cost effective to rebuild a good KA24DE for boost.

Got the motor put together and running in 4 days. Had a few problems and finally got it 97% bug free in about a week. I'm in Maryland right now on leave and I wont see my car for another week.

**UPDATE**

Man, I almost forgot how ugly the KA sounds...lol. I remember when I ran mine with an open dump. I thought it was broke.

But through a 4" RSR Titanium...pure sex baby!!

Have to oove the .48 for spool, I could hear it at anythig off idle. My .81 AR TO4 doesn't even think of spooling without a load. I can't wait to see how laggy it is with the TO4R compressor instead of the E. BTW, since people are going to ask, its full frame T4 not a hybrid T3/TO4 hence the lag.

I'll probably make some shielding out of some sheet metal or something. I might just spent the $ and get some heat wrap.
