WOOT!! I just noticed I had a PM so I checked it and it said about my feature article, well, I figured it was just my Auto-Detailing guide I wrote up several months back moved or something, but much to my surprise, it was a feature of my Q. That makes my day, just wanted to share Falk's Q

Thanks Oz.

It is hard to believe. Hard to believe there's a site that respects cars as clean as simple as elegant and nicely done as mine. Real hard to believe, especially when you consider there are probably less than 3 Y33 Q45's in the continental USA that are anywhere close to it

I never disputed that your car was clean. It certinally is! Modified in a VIP way? Not hardly. Which is why I said it's hard to believe. It's true your car itself is considered to be a VIP car, however, the mod's done to it certinally does not follow VIP style in any form.

Get a clue bro, seriously. Maybe it's no VIP Car cover car, but it could EASILY be in the readers ride section. You obviously have some mightier than thou standards of what VIP style is, but I have realistic standards. I believe a VIP car, with a nice drop, excellent fitting wheels in sizes and offsets that are traditionally accepted in VIP style, dark tint + privacy curtains, a totally unique Fusa, and an overall clean look EASILY fits the traditional VIP style. I've been following the style for just about 2 years, I've been to Japan twice and seen what classifies as VIP style over there.

A car does NOT have to be slammed on the ground with air-ride, 12" dish and a full body kit to be VIP style. All I know is what I read, see and have seen, and that my friend, I know.

I agree. There's VIP styling, and then there's going overboard. Congrats on getting featured. Every time I see a picture of your car it makes me want to get a Y33 of my own...

Your wheels look like the should be on a civic? They look very sporty, not vip.

You know, as much as you talk about going to Japan, to visit your wifes family, you car resembles nothing near what vip cars look like in Japan. And since that seems to be your standard for everything (vip magazines, and japan itself) one can only ask why doesn't your car look like that? You tell everyone how you know about all of the new trends in VIP yet, it doesn't show on your car?

Not to mention, why do you think going to Japan makes you an expert on anything? Not just VIP, I hate to tell you but there are people who go to Japan on a weekly basis, and according to your justification they should be VIP gods right?

I'm not saying I know more than you, I'm just saying your car doesn't look VIP, other than the fact that it's a q45.

Ok buddy. Well, I'm off to my third Japanese class (by third I mean 3 courses, not 3 individual classes) that starts in 12 minutes. Thanks for the comments.

Wow, Kevin, nice accolades. Just shows you can do something to your taste and have it appreciated by others for the quality work, even if it's not necessarily their style.

Just don't pay attention to a young buck who's undestanding of true meaning of a UNIQUE car is near "0" mark. I am not into VIP cars. I think it is stupid to have a car with less that an inch of ground clearace and ride as "nice" as derailed train!I've been (and stiil a member of PNW4WD accissiation), I've seen youth (show-offs) with some exttra $$ and spare time building "nice" loking rigs (I am talking "a'la" show 4X4 rigs). However, every time we invited them to hit some real "SHIZER" out in the boonies(4X4 trails), they just simply flunk and don't show up. Too scared to scrape the paint! But always give you an advice how to winch-out or use hi-lift-jack and such! See what I mean! What I mean is you create something you enjoy and you enoy using it - use it and continue to enjoiy it even though some nucklehead calls it NOT TRUE VIP car. Quote »To me you car looks like it has just rolled off an assembly line![/quote]VERY NICE Y33. I wish mine looked like that!

Never seen a Civic with 9.5" 19's, but Ok. What's wrong with "sporty"? Ever heard of Junction Produce? Ever heard of Junction Produce Sports? If you pick up one of their catalogs you'll see it in there. Since when are "sporty" wheels a no-no in VIP? BBS Mesh, it doesn't get much sportier than that, and that's totally accepted. In reality, most of the wheels on the cars in VIP magazines are quite "sporty". I'm sorry, but I like to do things a little differently. I don't pick up a magazine, see a nice Cima / Q and say "I want mine to look just like that", I say, "Ok, I like that, and I like this, and I like that, if I kinda do some or this and some of that, and maybe add a bit of this over here, I'll make mine unique, but still follow the general theme of the whole thing.
G50 Q wrote:I hate to tell you but there are people who go to Japan on a weekly basis, and according to your justification they should be VIP gods right?
It's not just about taking trips to Japan, think about it man. Just because you go there doesn't mean you have a clue what VIP is, however, if this person who goes to Japan on a weekly basis is INTO VIP cars, then I would expect he's seen more than you or I ever will. My point is, I've been twice to Japan, alllll over the Tokyo area, all around Fuji, Shizouka and up and down the Izu penninsula, which is a lot of area to cover, and I go there as a fan of VIP, so of course, I'm on the look-out for them. When I spot a group of them, I notice them and I check them out. When I see Cimas, Crowns and Celsiors with nothing more than drop and a set of wheels, I wonder what in your eyes makes my Q so different. In Japan it's an acomplishment just to own a VIP car - at all - and when you start to Style it out, whatever your tastes may be, you have a VIP style car. Maybe you don't realize the Japanese interpretation of Style is about the same as Modding, once you start to mod your car, you are in essence styling your car.

In any case, you and everyone else are free to think whatever you want about my car. You say it "does not follow VIP style in any form", well, I whole-hartedly disagree. And I say all this with all due respect, I don't want to bash or diss you or anyone else, I just want to help open peoples minds a little bit.

And to everyone else, thank you for comments, it certainly made me happy to see, and I am proud of my car as everyone knows. It's by far, the nicest, best and most favorite of all the cars I've had, although, I've loved them all for different reasons (except that piece of total crap '84 Jetta), and it's a FAR cry from what it looked like the day I picked it up!

I like it. I'd own it.

VIP-style or not, it's a clean Y33, one of the nicest I've seen.

I think categorizing one's car restricts not only the owner but those who view it - Kevin's car is done the way HE likes it, and that's what's important.

Realistically, I can't see a true "VIP" driving a $10K car. But I CAN completely appreciate the "VIP-style", which is taking an affordable luxury sedan and emulating the upper-crust luxury cars on the market. It's very popular, and I hope it blows up evn MORE, because these cars are VERY underappreciated.

Hell, maybe I'll make an effort to recruit more "VIP-style" G50 / Y33 / F50 owners... Not a bad idea.

Kevin, congrats on the feature. You've earned it.

I completely agree with you. He built the car to his tastes.

However, that being said... the article was written on a supposedly "VIP" website. That was my point. It's kinda like putting a Nissan on the cover of Honda tunning... but, then again, that website doesn't have a clue what VIP is or is about, they think a lambo is a VIP car....ahahahaha

Thanks Greg, I actually had a dream a few weeks back that it was chosen for this web-site! My buddy at WORK Wheels is gonna take some pics of it for me, maybe then... - I can dream right?

And I bet you I could get close to $18k for my Q in L.A. as it is. When I valet it I get some very approving looks from the flock of BMW and Benz owners wondering what it is and why it doesn't look like every one of their cars.

G50Q, it's NOTHING like putting a Nissan on the cover of Honda Tuning, nothing, nothing, nothing, like it. Nothing like it whatsoever. Sorry. My Q easily fits in with the VIP / EXE style, but I guess you just don't get it.

Which tells me a lot about Californians - They'd be paying $6,200 over NADA retail in perfect condition.

Besides, you won't sell anyway.

Kev, don't fret man - No one's dogging out your car. Besides, the car doesn't make the man.

I drove one of the most pristine G50's in the US for several years - it was a never-ending struggle to have people see it the way *I* saw it. I finally realized I have to enjoy it for myself and quit caring what others think.

I still love it, still wouldn't trade it for another car of the same value, and still enjoy driving it (even though I can hop in my new 6MT Coupe anytime).

Greg, send me a pic of the wheel and I'll forward it to him.

What it says about Californians is we're a huge car-culture and they appreciate nicely done cars and it can actually add value to it. I got about 3k over book for my Civic

Makes sense - I sold my 94 Si for $3K over KBB retail as well. Laughed all the way to the bank.

I have some closeups on my office PC, I can send later... Here's a quick pic for now.

I agree - the older ones supposedly had a different lip / barrel design. I LOVE the non-stepped lip.

These were made in '91 if I remember correctly.

The center caps say Equip, but I don't think they're Equips (although I have seen pics of some old Equips that looked similar).

I'd rather take it from someone who's worked at Work (haha) for a while... Sucks not knowing what model of wheels you have!
