I was driving down a major intersection when the light turned yellow, so I stopped because I didn't want to risk running a red due to cameras at that intersection... The guy behind apparently thought I was going to go for the yellow so he didn't even bother to brake or let off the gas and plowed right into my car.

PIC 1 PIC 2 PIC 3 PIC 4 PIC 5 PIC 6

There was almost NO damage to the other driver's van as he had a steel bumper. We exchanged info, called up my insurance report it and got a few estimates. From the pictures, the damage doesn't look too bad, but preliminary shop estimates are $4300 M2 Fountain Valley Bodyworks and $4700 at another place.

Anyone want to buy a 240? I might consider selling the car depending on how the situation goes.

Freaking idiots who don't pay attention when they are driving shouldn't be driving 2 ton cars.

I bet the insurance company totals it because it wrinkled the body. I'd hate to see a 97 go down like that. Did you get injured?

I'm fine (I think)... I woke up this mornign with a stiff neck, but after stretches and excercising, it is fine now...

If my insurance company decides to salvage it, I'm going to have to yank out all the crap I put in it...

Not only that, I would get blue book value, which is currently at around $8500, correct? I would definitely talk to a lawyer about getting back the $12k I paid for this car.

That sucks hardcore. Sorry. Did the frame get bent up? I just took mine in today to get the damage estimates done on it. Only about $1500. Not as bad as yours but it always sucks!

Fountain Valley, orange county area.

The driver side rear frame of the car is definitely messed up. It's minor, but will still require work to align and straighten up.

Hey! sucks when this stuff happenes.

This is a bit scary because my s14 was rear ended yesterday too! The girl wasn't paying attenteion either; just drove right at it without braking. Estimated repair cost - ~1200

Well, insurance company of both parties called me today and both agreed that the other driver is 100% at fault. Now I just have to pick a body shop to do the repairs... anyone have suggestions? I'm considering the M2 Collision Center.

When they're done with my car I am going to be meticulous as **** when inspecting the car.

Honda Service Center off Crenshaw Blvd in Torrance. Yeah it says Honda, but they have a great body shop that works on other cars, including my 240SX. Certified by Honda so you know it won't be some shady ghetto place. Lifetime warranty if they are at fault, paint fading etc. Give 'em a call. They're definitely the place I'd go to if I'm not forkin the bill.

There's another auto body and collision place in San Pedro next to the DMV that looks like a pretty solid place. They are certified in luxury cars (Jag, Benz, etc) but have no problems for other cars. They use lasers to make sure panels are aligned with pinpoint accuracy and they oven bake the paint, panel by panel. Pretty damn expensive, but who cares, you aint paying for it. I have seen their finished products and it is quality stuff.

If you decide to take the car to another shop, make sure to inquire about the painting. Make sure they have ovens that bake the paint. Anything else would be shady ghetto spray and dry and eventually bubble and fade and ****.

I feel your pain...the same thing happened to the S14 I had....except it was after only a month of ownership. 17 yr old girl in a 96 mustang was looking down, didn't see me stopped at a light, hit me at 50mph without braking...needless to say, it was totaled. my trunk was in my back seat, and my rear fender bent under so far it punctured my rear passenger tire.

Wow guys, those stories are horrible, sorry to hear about them, and for where to go for the repairs, id agree on this one with slw240sx, go to an upscale dealer and ask who does their body work, then find out the info to get in touch with them and go there. Or if there is a body shop localy, ask around and see what people in your area recommend.

Good luck with the repairs

I was just thinking the same thing, but drifter posted it before me. It does seem like people are out to get the 240 owners. Its a sad sad thing.

yea it is a sad sad thing, to bad there isnt an "Anti-240sx police faction" to arrest everyone who hit and runs 240's. :(
