i got a local fabrication shop to make this for me out of 18 gauge Mild Steel, now mind you they never saw my car, or the room i had, i gave them some dimensions and my stock manifold a spare head, the turbo and wastegate, they used some photos of a SR OBX manifold to get the design concept, and made this for me in a few weeks,

now there is going to be some slight mods needed to this (i think, i have not properly test fitted it yet, but it fits), the wastegate pipe needs to be shortened and bent 90* for the wastegate to sit ontop the manifold and the wastegate discharge to be pointed towards the firewall , where a dump pipe will be added that dumps directly to the air somewhere by the downpipe. right now it jsut manages to clear the firewall and power steering resivior.

sorry i didnt take pics before the heat wrap, but i'll probably need to unwrap it to modify it, and then completely wrap it up, wastegate pipe and all.. enjoy, bash, comment, applaud etc.. etc... all comments welcomed.. and ofcourse i will not be using the rblue rubber band, thats where the 20 feel of heat wrap ran out, that will the wrapped with another piece to cover the w/g pipe, and clamped off like the runners.

oh and you can have one for $575 plus shipping

if you want more info please dont hesitate to ask,

and the runners are all 10 3/4 inches long, which makes this an equal lenght manifold

just a little more info, runners #3 & #4 are made if about 5 bends welded together, later models he said should be made of cleaner 2-3 piece bends once he can make more of them and get them right

5 mins in photoshop and you get the idea of how i want to mave the w/g

i really wish the wastegate port was more in the center of the merge collector, now it dumps off #3 runner,

i hopefully will be able to bolt it up this weekend and take some more photos with the heat wrap off, the wastegate pipe bent and shortened, and the turbo on etc...

when it was on the stan bolted to the head, the turbo wasnt too close to the head, IF a GT25R fits on the stock manifold the T3/T04E shouold too, the compressor housings are about the same (t04E and T04s i think)

the bolt in the T3 flange is a taped in there cause it is hard to get a spanner in there to ighten stuff up.

im liking it alot. ill definately be interested if and when i need another turbo. 600 for the turbo and 600 for the manifold means about 1200 in all, not bad considering a gt series bb turbo will cost me about that used unless im really lucky. i like the wide range of options you get with the t3 manifold too. it looks good so lemme know when its all up and running, and be sure to take pictures of the finished product, in the car as well if possible.

I like the manifold as well! Very clean and open design; not too cluttered. Put that puppy in the car and get us some pics. The CA18 community will rise up and conquer all at this rate.:D

How much did it run you for that? I'd really like an equal length mani, but I don't know if I want to shell out that kind of dough...

thanks guys, with Shifter-Kart racing this weekend and lots of Surfing i really didnt get much time with the car, but expect a snot load of photos this week of it on/off the car, modified and the engine etc assembled,

but i definately am going to modify it so that the wastegate is up top and not pointing forward on the car,

it cost me exacly what i put as a price $575 US (bends, flanges, fab-work)

the problem with it dumping off a single runner is that coresponding cylinder tends to run lean. and detonation is not on my menu.

I was also thinking about moving the w/gate port, but we'll see how that goes.

all and all i am happy with it, it will work better that the stock manifold, and will work for my application for now.

i just need a clone to come to work for me so i can concentrate on gettingmy car ready, i just got no time.

**old post update**

Sorry no photos of it on te car, but these were taken at the office and i couldnt borrow the camera to go up to where the car is at currently...

just an update, i test fitted ti and the flange needs to be cut to clear the bracket for the AC, the majour problen is that the turbo and the engine mount want to share some space, either i cut the mount and make it fit or cut the runners off the head flange and flip the entire thing over, to become a top mount, which doesnt sount like a bad idea.... i can have it done for free by the guy who made it,,,

i measured ~9" from the manifold bolts to the hood, and the flange sits inline with the top bolts, and the turbo is ~8" in diameter (compressor) so i may be able to pull it off, and the turbo will be above ports 1&2

what ya'll think...

It looks nice. i hope you dont have the problem I had.. the turbo hitting the motor mount resulting in a notched mount. Also, I would put some sort of bracing in the wastegate/dump. When I had my Tial 40mm relocated to reduce the stress on the joint, it had still cracked 3/4 around the dump.

hey thanks. i think this is what i think the end resulyt would look like,

i did it in photoshop, and rotated, clocked the compressor to how it would have to be, i did one without the DP and WG exit and one with them virtually there (lol excusr my quick drawing, :) )

looking at these photos , it doesn't look like it would be much higher than this...

Watch out on the compressor housing... it may interfere with your cam gears... keep in mnd the position on MY motor in that pic, and the flange is centered between #2 and #3 cylinder. I would definately do a test fit before you have it cut and rewelded.

Also, put the deltagate closer to the manifold to keep it from interfering with the master cylinder, etc. Also, after looking at MY motor pic, the flange it was slightly lower than the flange line, where as yours is up higher. Since the CA motor leans to the driver's side it helps you out a bit. Here is some pics of my manifold w/out the turbo mounted.... they should help you out on designing your setup. You coulda asked me for them sooner!!! ;)

Well that is the kit that I am currently selling. I will try to convince my boss to have it send to our manifold shop for them to copy and he had told me to check for the demande out there. If any of you are interested, contact me [email protected] or [email protected] or AIM: godzilla240sx or EnjukuRay.

Is that referring to manifolds or pics?

CA19DET, would it be at all possible to get one of those made without an external waste gate, and how much would that cost? thanks in advance

thanks drumma022:

i think i will follow your advice about the compressor housing clearing the cam cover and front of the engine,,,

but thankfully, i have a RHD silvia so i dont have any master cylinder clearence issues,,,

Now you just need to develop one for a stock location bottom mount equal length and then you'll have some of my money!

drumma02: i dropped you an e-mail about a day or two ago regarding your exhaust manifold. i wanted to know if it would be possible to buy one off you, but without the external wastegate pipe because due to the emissions thing where i live i could never get away with an external gate.
