How is 4 wheeling redneck?
Really? "So low"? How low is that, exactly?Oatmealman wrote:I've wheeled a few off road package frontiers and no they can barely do anything because they sit so low.
Umm, we did? And you know this how?Oatmealman wrote: Sure you raised the pan a few inches but you lost sidewall
I know how tires work, stupid. I've owned a few 4x4's in my day, including a Suburban that was heavily modded for off-roading.Oatmealman wrote:which you flexes and gives a better ride
Actually, it rides beautiful. Handles better than before too.Oatmealman wrote: so instead of giving a quality ride
This is AZ. Not East Bumhump or wherever it is you're from. We don't have potholes. But thanks for worrying about us.Oatmealman wrote: when you hit a big pot hole
If you honestly think we'd take this offroading with those wheels, you're more retarded than you were with your previous screen name.Oatmealman wrote:and a horrible offroad performance.
The truck in my sig pic would like a word with you.PapaSmurf2k3 wrote:I beg to differ. If you raise your truck up and off road it all the time, you aren't using your truck to its ability at all... its a utility vehicle first and foremost.
Some could argue why the hell are you messing around with a truck if that's what you want to do, you're trying to make it something its not... just build a baja buggy.

Well if your truck is purpose built for off roading (and driving yourself there), then whatever... but like you said- 95% of trucks never go off road... so why would everyone jack their s*** up sky high? It would be more difficult to get in and out of, as well as put things in the back of it, and would decrease your fuel economy...Desert Rat wrote:

Which is exactly what I said to hilljack-boy earlier. Uber-lifted trucks are useless off-road. So are 44" tires.Desert Rat wrote:Actually sky high isn't that practical for a dedicated off roader either .... A lower center of gravity is much better when you're leaning the truck at 25-30 degrees over obstacles.
Yes i dredging this thread back up for the purpose of responding to this since i got banned for a good while.44's and good clearance do serve a purpose off road.44's are big yes but they also can run through much more without having too rely so much on flex, and lockers.AZhitman wrote:Which is exactly what I said to hilljack-boy earlier. Spent quite a bit of time at the dunes, and drove a lot of purpose-built trucks... Best two I ever drove? A near-stock Samurai with some gear reduction mod (sorry, dunno what it was) and a gutted '84 Toyota.
Both of them outperformed every "monster" truck out there... The Samurai would climb damn near anything idling in low gear, with the driver standing on the seat...
My old Suburban was pretty capable (Rancho RS9000's, Rancho springs, and a mild lift with 35's). I actually have video of me getting it airborne at 40+mph.
Suspension travel is so much more important than ground clearance.
You can make all the hick jokes you want but i live in an very affluent suburban neighborhood 20 minutes from denver, The reason i build 4 wheelers? because i like to get out and go camping and since i live 25 minutes from the nearest trail i take full advantage of that.Just because i build a 4 wheeler doesn't mean i'm a banjo playing, chew spitin, sister/mom f***, joe dirt, redneck.AZhitman wrote:I hear banjo music.

You should stop generalizing 4 wheelers into one group, and thinking that because we like to go off road and have fun there that makes us a hick. Look at xrra racing, or king of the hammer racers, or baja racers? Call them hicks? f*** no they are the some of the best drivers in the world and get paid TONS to do it. I could make generalizations about 4 banger, fart cannon, eco box, underpowered cars, and their drivers. But ya know what? I don't. Sure i laugh at the typical honda with 5 inch tip and the different color wing and body kit, who doesn't?
