Thought I would share some pics of my birthday present(s). The Frontier has new wheels (20x9s ), tires, chrome door handles, mirrors, and chrome trim on the tailgate.

SWEET!

It wouldn't surprise me.

I used to joke that my truck was the only thing in the driveway that wasn't modded. She sure does look good though, the pictures don't do her justice. She looks so nice, I'm actually worried about someone scratching the paint.

I don't understanding the point of modding trucks unless it's too go offroad. It needs a 60 front,14 bolt rear,40's and a supercharger. Then it would be a real truck.

I think anyone with any sense could see that this isn't a truck that was bought to go off-roading.

And a few chrome goodies is hardly "modding".

no but putting chrome or wheels on a truck is gay.I follow the old saying chrome don't get you home.Or form follows function. Not only does chrome look gay but it doesn't do anything for function. If your gonna mod a vehicle it should have a purpose other than form behind it.

Thanks for your input, but my wife likes a little bling on her ride.

You won't ever have to worry about that.

By the way, your Furd has a chrome bumper. Totally useless.

...and baby blue pinstripes: Gay.

What we did did nothing to take away from this truck's capabilities. It can still pull a Uhaul full of my stuff from TN to AZ. It can still haul a Datsun 510 on a trailer from our house in AZ to Bwana in CA. It can still climb the side of a mountain. And considering the size of the tires, the function of the truck was improved because it gave it more ground clearance (it can climb over bigger rocks without busting the oil pan)! As far as the chrome is concerned, it improved the aesthetics, that's all. Didn't take away a thing. Don't hate me because my truck it beautiful!

I believe in the fashion world, that's called "Accessorizing". Modding would be fake tata's.

If chrome is gay then the previous owner must have ordered the flamer package for my truck when they bought it.

By the way I don't have that ford anymore.Yes it had a chrome bumper from the factory but it was also lifted. The pin stripes weren't my chose I bought it like that.I've got an zr2 s-10 now and I'm building a very capable jeep with a 60 front soa,14 bolt ff 3 link rear zj front coils,350 v8,th350,part time conversion np203,and absolutely no chrome of blingy a** s***.Sure i've got pop can sized heims joints but those are for function as well.Sure that truck can haul uhaul and some other useless crap. What happens when you need that lift or that little bit of extra aggresive tire? Your f***ed because instead of making it a real truck you made it have 20" rims and some chrome rapper bulls***.

Ok first off.,No that truck can not climb the side of a moutain,I've wheeled a few off road package frontiers and no they can barely do anything because they sit so low.Sure you raised the pan a few inches but you lost sidewall which you flexes and gives a better ride so instead of giving a quality ride when you hit a big pot hole you get a thunk and cracked s***ty wheel, and a horrible offroad performance.I don't hate on your truck cause it's beautiful.I hate on your truck cause it's a damn worthless truck.

So she's not as redneck as you. She doesn't need a 10" lift to get to the hog farm on back side of Toothless Mountain.

How is 4 wheeling redneck? I four wheel because I like to see places that not a lot of other people get to see.The beautiful backwoods that only a select few people get too see.

I go to places like this. This was more of hey i've got 50 extra bucks lets head up and go camping somewhere remote.

This trip however was a shake down run of the ford ranger I built. She got pretty good and stuck and had to be winched out.Didn't think the mud was that deep.We just shortened the wheel base 17" inches and are building a 5.0 with a blower right now to match the one tons and 42's that are going under it this winter.

Believe it or not, not every truck is purpose built for offroading. Some people don't want a 10" lift on their truck, because it makes putting things in the back that much more difficult...

Then your not using the truck to it's full ability unless it's a tow pig.

I beg to differ. If you raise your truck up and off road it all the time, you aren't using your truck to its ability at all... its a utility vehicle first and foremost.

Some could argue why the hell are you messing around with a truck if that's what you want to do, you're trying to make it something its not... just build a baja buggy.

Aside from towing the G to the track, hauling old Datsuns home, and picking up parts?

Trust me, I live in the country. Every toothless oshkosh wearing Deliverance wannabe owns a 4 wheeler and a dirty farm dog out here. A truck is a waste if it can't handle roads with pavement but maybe paved roads are too upscale for you. As Greg said, it's her truck...it's his wife....you need not worry yourself over it.

PS: Your pic links might be too redneck for the internet to show up properly.

No one cares.

Just because a truck has a bed doesn't mean it's gotta be an off-roader. Some of us don't live in the backwoods of Butthump County. We're in the 5th-largest city in the US, genius.

What happens when YOU need to do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds? You're f***ed. We hop in the G or the 240.

Hey d***head - Thanks for coming into my wife's birthday present thread with your irrelevant opinion and being a douche.

Go play with your beat-down POS redneck welfaremobile, and we'll see you in a week.

A 10" lift is purely for show. So are huge tires.

Sorry, you're not the appointed expert on 4-wheeling.

And if we WANT to take it off-roading, we throw the stock wheels and the Grabbers back on, and go.

By the way, 4-Wheel / Off-Road Magazine doesn't share your dismal assessment of the 2005 Frontier:

For off-road aficionados, all of the underbody gear, like the gas tank, has been tucked up above the bottom of the frame rails for maximum ground clearance, which has been increased to 10.1 inches on four-wheel-drive models. Front and rear overhangs have also been shortened to provide best-in-class ramp angles.

Optional features include an electronic locking rear differential; four-wheel traction control; Hill Descent Control, which keeps the vehicle from gaining speed down steep hills; and even Hill-Start Assist Control, which prevents the Frontier from rolling back when starting up a hill.

Although the highway ride is a bit choppy, the new double-wishbone front suspension really improves high-speed stability. This truck feels as solid at 90 mph as it does at 60 mph. We also like the crisp feel of the speed-sensitive power rack and pinion steering, and the appropriately throaty exhaust bellow. And off-road, the Nissan Frontier climbed over obstacles that took our breath away.

http://www.edmunds.com/apps/vd...ber=1

These guys gave it high marks too:

http://www.pickuptrucks.com/ht....html

Hmmm, what's this? FourWheeler.com says:

On the trail, the rear locker and gobs of torque get the little Frontier over everything we have attempted. We only wish the body was a little higher to keep pesky rocks from kissing its rockers. Fortunately, Nissan engineers had the dirt enthusiast in mind when designing the Frontier, as all of the vitals are tucked up safely within in the framerails, which give the Frontier over 10 inches of running ground clearance.

The Frontier offers a lot of capability and truck for the price, and is arguably the best midsize truck on the market. We are looking forward to an exciting year of service with it.

http://www.fourwheeler.com/roa....html

But, like I said, this truck won't see a lot of off-roading, but it's damn nice to have to haul, tow, and drive around town or on a road trip.
