Hello everyone, today I got my car back.. Monday my dealer called and said the car was ready. The crank sensor had to be replaced. They did try it once friday but it didn't work.. I really don't know what happened this time but the car started fine with the remote start and regular start. My car hasn't been starting this well for the past 2-3 years. I really hope it will last and not go back after a month or two. I will read the report again in the afternoon and post what they wrote. It cost like 170 for the part and 200 for labor.

I think they did something else. And I'll bet money it had something to with electrical. The fact that you stepped on the gas pedal sounds to me like a coincidence.

A few weeks back, my car wouldn't start until the second try. I thought fuel and air at first too, but rethought my prognosis when I checked the electrical system. The ground wire was unbelievably corroded and when I tested ground to the engine I was getting a a slightly sporadic tone. Replaced the ground wire and the car runs like a champ. I would like to know if the dealership replaced the ground wire on your car.

Ryan,

I would say that you most likely have an electrical issue. If you have a broken wire or a bad contact it migth work fine when the temperature is cold and the item is contracted, but not produce proper contact when things heat up and it expands.

Well I had to step on the gad petal every time I had to start the car. When I was listening that the car was ready to start I pressed the gas to give it more power, i guess. I called the dealer to thank them and asked, they said they only replaced the crankshaft position sensor. I really don't know what else they did but that was the only thing they charged. as long as the car starts fine, i'm happy. however i know this problem with most likely come up soon. I just hope It makes it through the winter cause that's gonna be the biggest obstacle.

Can you please list the part number of the sensor that was replaced, if your paperwork has that detail? The reason I ask is that there are two crank position sensors. Or if you are willing, could you call the dealer and ask them which sensor they replaced? There is one under the crank pulley, and another near the transmission.

I can't tell if they did anything else. Based on the first diagnosis they found no errors but replaced one sensor ( maybe knock sensor?) but the car still didn't work and after the second diagnosis they replaced the crank sensor. I thought it was only one sensor responisble for the timing. I think the best thing is to take it to the dealer just in case. They did 2 diagnosis ( 100 doll each) and they only charged me for part and labor of the sensor. I don't know if in fact did other work but nothing was written on the invoice. I will check for a part number and let you guys know.

For those interested the part is called CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. Part number: 23731-35U11 and it cost $175. I will see how my car goes so far although i'm afraid the problem will show up soon. Thanks everyone for their help and suggestions. Good Luck
