Mustang vs. G35 coupe

Agreed, the Mustang will beat a G35 in a straight line. In every other way, the Mustang falls far behind the G35. The gap is so big that I didn't even bother looking at a Mustang.

But, I think a race between a 05 GT and 05 G coupe would be determined by the driver.

This is what I found2003 G Coupe with 280 HP0 to 60: 5.5¼ mile: 14.2 @ 100

2005 GT , 2007 GT 0 to 60-mph: 5.1 sec¼ mile: 13.8 sec @ 103 mph

With that said, the 2005 G Coupe has 298 HP, but is a few pounds heavier (77 pounds)

Some other numbers I ran across2007 350Z0 to 60: 5.2 sec1/4 mile: 13.7 sec @ 104 mph

2005 GTO0 to 60 4.81/4 mile: 13.3 @ 107

Have you ever considered an 05-06 GTO. It has 400 horses stock and you can get one for @ $24k. The 04 GTO has 350 hp and you can get them for even less.

I considered getting one before I got my 06 G.

I call myself trying to keep up with a rust metallic colored GTO one day. We were just cruising at around 50-60 in traffic and he stomps the throttle and proceeds to move out. I wasn't really trying to race but rather keep up with him - the acceleration on the GTO is crazy. Besides I slowed down for bumps which didn't seem to phase him.

When I caught up with him at the light. I notice that one of the badges on the rear of the GTO says 6 liters - roughly twice the size of the G engine!!!I told the GTO driver " You didn't have to flex on me like that!!"

If you are strictly going for Horsepower per dollar - then a used GTO might be theway to go

yea the GTO will get u somewhere fast then the G will BUT youll look better get there in the G . the GTO is just another fast car wit no style and when your sitting back and really looking at the car does anything really stand out (besides the horse power) and says man i GOT to have this car? You obviously never been to a track? Keyboard racing don't mean shlt. On paper, the G should be fast, but its way too heavy to be any good at the tracks. I've seen the G loose to a honda civic, s2k, sti's, wrx, etc etc.

Not only that. The black G i saw sounded like it was crying like a lil biotch. I guess he had a Stillen Supercharger? haha. It was still slow.

The G will probably do better Road racing. But straight lines goes to the Mustang for sure.

I own a 06 G35 fully loaded 6mt, RAS, NAVI, etc. etc... This car is heavy *** h3ll.

I been to Irwindale 1/8 track and seen every G loose to pretty much everything.

A black, supercharged g35, (sounded like a car crying), lost to a honda CRX.hahah.

Search any youtube drag videos. I haven't seen a G won any drag race. Not in real life, and not even on youtube.

The only time I see a G do pretty well is freeway racing on a "rolling start".

But on a dead stop, the G is slow as a pig. Prove me wrong. All the vids i've seen, the G lost.

There is even an old s2k vs G35 vid where the G lost on all 5 races. dead stop, 20mph roll, 50mph roll. etc etc...

The G is not a fast car. There are hundreds of twin turbo G out there, yet no Drag racing vids why? Cause there still slow. Yes they look powerful on the DYNO, but shlt, the dyno run isn't carrying the G's full weight.

My friend had an '02(?) cobra convertible and I thought that was pretty quick. Then he sold it and got a Lightning, but he missed having a car so he got an '04 cobra anniversary edition or something. That car is insane. 400-someing HP just thows you back in the seat and keeps you there. It handles really well too. We were approching a rotory at a ridiculous speed and I was thinking to myself "are you going to slow down?...we are going to die" but the car went around without so much as a squeel from the tires.

However it is not as refined as the G. It's very harsh and down right violent when you bury the gas pedal.

I'd lose my license within 5 mins if I had that car. It's just way too much fun to resist.

Why hate on a car you own? that makes no sense to me. If I preferred to drive something else, I'd sell my piece of..."especially if it was a G, awesome resale value!" and buy what the heck ever I wanted.

It's all about package deal imo. and the G is simply the best luxury/style/bang for your buck you can buy, for the most part....just my opinion of course. As far as racing goes, I can't even count the number of stangs I've beaten. Of course mine is modded a bit, but still all motor, no boost of any kind. But I never race anyone unless I think they actually have a chance of beating me....spankin the crap out of someone that I already know I can beat is a waste of gas imho. It's all about stock vs stock. and I'm sure the "CRX" you saw beat the G was far from stock. Of course those cars are soooo light all you have to do is slap an H22 motor in a stripped down CRX and run high 12's on a good day. But hell, if you stripped down a G or even just took the back seats and a few other little things out it would make a noticeable difference I'm sure.

I've seen that G VS s2k video as well....and am sad to say, do feel a little sorry for the G, he did loose all the races. But if I do recall, the 2k had a couple things done to it as well.....maybe suspension, intake and exhaust? I can't remember...I just recall the video from awhile back. The s2k was rollin solo to and I think the camera man was in the G...so a little weight issue there as well. I know if I was that G owner, I would of stopped after 3 losses

and I sure as hell wouldn't post the video of my multiple losses lol

just my opinion here.. even if the CRX that you saw on the track beat a G35 badly.. it's still jsut a CRX.. you ask 100 people which car they'd prefer to own and i bet you 99 of them would choose a G over a lightning-fast CRX without a second of hesitation.. (well.. you're prolly the only one that'd choose the CRX over a G...but oh well..)

as far as racing goes.. i may not be an expert at all in car world and i dont care how fast a mustang goes i still won't drive a Mustang simply because Mustang has the general image of American muscle car and that's not somethign i'd want to drive to see my clients....

is G a fast car to me? sure it is.. fast enough for me that i haevn't had any problems when merging into a lane....

and finally . with regards to your stupid street videos that you see on youtube..

i dont think that means much here as I can simply drive a 01 Corolla to race a G side by side .. all i need to do is to tell that G owner to drive slowly then video that cra*p...

my suggestion is go sell your G asap and buy some CRX.. with the current resalve value of our G, you can even get multiple CRX with different colours...

I fully realize that there are MANY cars faster than my G, and there are MANY cars faster than the cars that are faster than my G. The lesson everyone should learn is that there's always someone who is better at something than you, has a bigger house, faster car, etc. etc.If you can't accept that, then you will never be happy with what you have. And that's a shame.
