There were only 63 mr2 turbo's sold in 95, only around 20.000 turbos in all. The reason this car sold so poorly is that the sports compact car sales were tapering off in all markets and this car was priced very high, the sticker on my 92t was 28k, and by 95 the price had risen to 35k due to the exchange rate of the yen to the dollar and the fact that this car was produced in small numbers.

are you sure it was a turbo MR2, cuz they top out at over 140 mph. The slowest model is the MKII NA. It is slower than the MKI NA model and the MKII Turbo and MKI Supercharged are about the same. If the car was turbo though....he wasnt trying cuz it should spank you.ANd the SR20 vs 3SGTE. I dont know... that would be close. I think the MR2 would win in the 1/4 because of the launch.....but i dont know about top end. What does a stock SR top out at? I know the mR2 tops out at over 140 mph. Almost 150.

Good friend of mine has a 93 mr2, they have a 0-60 of about a second faster than a 240, but up top im actually faster ( like a car length from a roll at 60 ) . He gets about 14.7s at the strip and i get 15.3s, roughly same mph. Quick car, fun to drive, I prefer the balance of the 240 though. Any well maintained 240 should be able to cream a n/a mr2 in a straight line.

From what I have read on this board about the sr20det the 3sgte is a little better suitable for higher horsepower without building up the internals especially the gen 3 and up engine. The only downfall on the 3sgte is the turbo, it is a great little turbo but with a little bigger turbo the engine puts out huge amounts of power. From what I have read here the 3sgte can also handle higher boost a well, many people run 16psi for daily driving. Maybe it is because of the cast iron block? What block material does the sr use? The head on the 3sgte was designed by yamaha since they make great high rpm heads for their street bikes, the heads also breath real well and port and polish jobs are a waste of money since the head was designed for high air flow.

Friend of mine has a supercharged mr2 that feels a good bit quicker than any stock 240 i've been in.

On a random topic anybody think toyota is actually going to produce this?

Rest of the story is here http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/?...31648

I really dont think they will produce that. It looks to much like a spaceship for me.
