So, brewing beer is illegal in MS because some jackass got the idea that Jesus doesn't like it (even though that alcy bastard turned water into wine in the DESERT), but I digress.

Hypothetically (of course), if I were so happen to possess beer making equipment, where does everyone buy their beer making ingredients?
I have a few friends that live in Germany, one right up the street from the oldest brewery in the world (Weihenstephaner) and would love to hypothetically get my hands on some of their ingredients. Does anyone have any hypothetical pointers?

Living in the land of homebrew...I drive for 5 minutes and say hello to my friendly neighborhood boozemiester. I tell them I want to make an irish red and they hook me up. I can also go at it myself but it didn't turn out as well.
For you, you can just find out what ingredients you need and have them shipped...http://www.mainbrew.com/

Wow, that website is awesome. If I don't hypothetically find something more local, I'll definitely hypothetically be using them.

You could hypothetically call Greg (here in RI) and he could hypothetically mail you something since he lives down the hypothetical street from a hypothetical brew hypothetical hypothetical supply hypothetical store.

My advice would be to not use Mr. Beer :D

When I was younger I saw those kits @ harbor freight for $15... But the beer it made was s*** and the tub they give you to ferment in was too small to be conveniently used with normal sized kits.

I miss brewing my own :(

Once I move into a new place, I think I'll start up again.

Your not making beer, you are making biofuel. It just fuels you and not your truck.

Yep. Kinda a long story, but it falls in line with our liquor laws where grocery stores cannot carry alcohol. You have to go to a liquor store, and with that, local brewers only have to worry about getting their products into the local liquor stores rather than mass produce for chains. This allows them to do a ton of different small batches with no pressure of having to produce for the masses. Close to 150 local breweries have sprouted because of it, and home brew stores are not far behind. My friends and I all messed around with brewing for quite some time, and one of my friends is even now interning at Odell up in the Fort Collins, CO area.

For a map of the breweries.... http://www.beerdrinkersguidetocolorado. ... r_Map.html

James, don't buy a cheap kit! I just go into this hobby myself and let me tell you, its a ton of fun!

I have a local homebrew place about 30 minutes from here that has helped me out a great deal. You can also purchase a lot of great things online but it looks like your state may not even be able to be delivered to.

Here are a couple of pics of my first homebrew going into its secondary fermentation. Its a Bass Ale clone which was recommended to me as an easy first brew. I have several more weeks until I can take a taste, I can barely wait!

Clear glass carboys are pretty much the standard for homebrew fermentation. Clear glass is not ideal for the final product of course.

(putting the clear glass in a dark place may be a good idea though :D )
