Hey fellas was just wondering how many mpg's are you guys getting in your rides?

When I was home, I was currently averaging 19.7 mpg in the city, as far as highway driving is concerned I drove around 385 - 400 miles on a tank of gas, this was due mostly to prices of premium gas in different states. I think that's o.k. for a car that weighs in a little over 4000lbs (if I'm wrong, please correct me). Let's hear or see what you got. I know driving habits plays a role in this also.

Let's do this, lol :shifter:

I get a mixed MPG of about 20MPG. If I am on a road trip, I can get 23-24...or if I'm in the city/winter I get about 17. 20 is about average though for how I drive (my nickname is Fast Lane Ukraine lol - hard to baby a V8).

I drive mainly in town with the M56x and averaging 19 mpg. This is huge increase for me because my 2007 G35x sedan was getting about 14 mpg. LOL

Mixed driving daily commute gets me about 20 mpg. If I baby it, I can usually get 21 or more. If I play with it a lot, it goes south pretty quick. If I just mostly don't pay attention, I'm probably closer to 19. Highway is more like 23-24. The spread is so small on city driving, I think I've decided it's not worth the fuel saving effort to baby it.

I'm coming from a Mazda 3 that weighed about 1200 lbs less and usually was around 30 mpg like this car is around 20, and that was cheap gas, too. Then again, it didn't have climate controlled seats. :D

I drive in sport mode 100% of the time. The dial hasn't moved in months.

As for exhaust and intake...even if they did help MPG you'd never see it. Why? The car is more fun and your foot gets heavier, oddly, when you have mods on it. :chuckle:

My car stays in sport mode all the time as well. When I'm home, I tend to have a lead foot and love hearing them duals rumble when I step on it. Just wanted to see what others around the country are getting from their rides and it seems as though around 19-20 is pretty much it.

My fellow M56 drivers: are you going off of the in-dash MPGs?

I have noticed that it reads higher than actual; I get between 15 and 16mpg when manually calculated. This is usually 1 mpg below what the car thinks. This is mostly mixed driving, in sport mode.

I am wondering also. I avgerage 15 city/18-20 highway(depends on length of trip). If you reset your gas avg. at every full up your numbers arent true.

Over the course of a month (without resetting avg mpg) is how I determine avg mpg.

And like most of us...I didnt buy this car for gas milage. I bought it because it looks like sex on wheels and it has plenty of "go fast" when I need it :naughty:

Even so, I just did Montvale, NJ to Albany, NY and got 25.6 on the car display. Had intelligent cruise fully engaged at 80mph. Just me and some luggage in the car.

Thanks for the reply, agoodall. I do reset at every fill up. I usually fill up 2 to 3 times a month, and manually calculate the mpg for each, and then average those numbers at the end of every month.

I totally agree; the car is not about mpg, but rather the look and feel of V8 power. :bigthumb: :bigthumb:

I'm averaging 21.4. Something I have noticed, when I drive on the highway, if I put it in manual mode 7 gear, the mileage improves greatly....

Most I ever did was put it in ECO mode, so the cruise control wouldn't be so aggressive about downshifting. Definitely worth a try.

Next tank of gas I'm going to try running in Sport the whole time and see if it makes any different in fuel economy. I'm surprised to see some of you hitting the same mileage numbers I am entirely in Sport.

Does anyone know if the "learning" aspect of the transmission only operates in Standard, or if it also does in Sport/ECO, too? I'd hate for my grandpa foot to confuse Sport as to what it's supposed to be.

I'm always at 19.2 mixed to and from work. that seems to be my best. this week I will add Takeda SRI Dual Intakes to the car and see if it changes. my driving is normal and hot aggressive at all. I will drive as normal with the intakes for some weeks then I will add a complete exhaust system and see if I can get that number to change

I've kept a bit of a log book on fuel economy since I bought the car in early March. There might be a missed fill-up or two, but it's pretty consistent. The 5/13 fill-up was a trip to Atlanta (23 mpg), and the last two are from heading up to Wisconsin (25 mpg). Otherwise, it's just around town, daily commute, hovering around 20 mpg.

The two MPG numbers are first what the center console says, reset after every fill-up, and second is what's computed from the trip odo and gas pump. There are two instances where it's 1 mpg off, but the vast majority are just a tenth or two. In both cases, it varies which direction it's off, so I'm inclined to believe it. The variability is likely more to do with when the pump cuts out.

I did this for the entire time I owned my Mazda, and never once did anything with the data, so I decided to stop at one page. I'll keep it around for logging maintenance, but that's about it. The dash keeps some history, and that's really good enough.

I have been keeping my eye on mileage lately and the difference between ECO, STANDARD, and SPORT

SPORT - I get better gas mileage (by 30+ miles)
ECO - Is only good for long drives with consistent speeds (60mph+)
STANDARD - I have no clue what this setting is even for anymore.

just my opinion.

I get better gas mileage in my M56 than I did in my G37. I think I stayed in the gas about longer die to the power difference. I guess when you know you've got the power I drive a bit easier LOL.

I'm so immature

I get between 19-24 depending on how much highway I do on the tank.

As for the difference between actual and the computer is very close sometimes spot on.

Hand calculated. Freeway, a hair under 30mpg driving 65mph. City I average 20mpg. I wouldn't expect V8 guys to get great mpg's. I keep the setting in normal. Sport eats up a bit more.

Wow, you guys are getting great fuel mileage.
I'm only getting around 17 mpg mixed city/highway driving (Although I have to say it's more 70/30).
I only get around 310 miles on a full tank (when I fill up, I usually get around 18 gallons), or if I drive more highway, I could maybe get around 330 miles.
The most mileage I get from a full tank was around 425 miles and this was because it was 90% highway.

City driving, stop and go, a/c blasting, pedal on the floor out of some stop lights is 16.5 mpg for me. Driving in rush hour highway traffic I get about 19. Longer trips at 70-80 mph, I have gotten 28 on a few trips. My best is 498 miles out of 17.5 gallons, corrected for my odometer being off with the P275/40R20s.
