The sticker averages say 19 city and 26 highway for a 3.5 CVT.Sarcanglk wrote:I think there is something wrong with my car I don't know the breakdown of average for highway vs city but my car says I average 20 mpg... what would that be like 23 highway 17 local...
I don't drive like a maniac usually but when i feel like pushing i push. I dunno it seems like my fellow 3.5ers may be fudging the numbers a lilmarlin29311 wrote:

It really depends on how you drive your car - do you leadfoot a lot, do you do a lot of stop and go, etc...Just because you get 20 average MPG doesn't mean anything is wrong. I get about 24 with my 3.5, but I try to drive it conservatively to save on gas.
Probably best to actually calculate based off of gallons put in and miles driven. I've been recording my actual mileage since I bought the car. I've got a 3.5 with a 6MT. My worst tank was 19.3 and my best 25.6. It's mostly highway driving (but there's always traffic on my evening commute). I noticed my mileage went up after I got a speeding ticket (because I slowed from 80+ to about 75). Every single one of my tanks has had some spirited acceleration (it's impossible to not run the 6 speed through its paces) and I definitely don't drive slow. In fact, the cop almost nailed me for reckless driving...cspear wrote:No fudging here !
But what might account for the wide array mpg variance is how oftenyou hit the reset on the mileage/mpg indicator.
Once it's reset, the averages will be a little skewed since it's calculating on a smaller driving distance.
No fudging here either....I could take some pics of my dash computerif that would help. Today I was driving 100% city and It held fastat 23 mpg.Sarcanglk wrote:

sorry but that kinda sounds like a shot at us 2.5ers, i dont regret my choice at allScandinavian Flick wrote:let be honest here,
what would you regret more,
spending a few extra bucks at the gas pump?
or buying a 2.5?
Yea you can take pics but there is no way to prove what you were driving(city vs. highway). Plus you can make your dash say 60mpg if you wanted...(reset trip computer when driving down hill on highway). Bottom line sometimes I miss the one good thing about my civic which got me around 35 mpg on average...{WBK}Viper wrote:

Mine has <2000 miles so I may gain a mpg or two over the next couple of thousand miles.Sarcanglk wrote:

Mang I applaud your patience whenever I try to "max out" my MPG by driving with cruise I always get bored and abort my attempt.SoxCoupe wrote:I average 23-24 MPG (combination city/highway) with my 3.5 CVT. That's without really putting my foot into it. I recently took a 475 mile road-trip from Virginia to Massachusetts and believe it or not, I got over 29 MPG. That was with no traffic and the cruise control set at 65, a bit boring but I was experimenting to see how many miles I could get out of it. I actually made it all the way on a full tank! On the way back I did 70-75 most of the way and got 27MPG. I was really impressed with the 29 MPG I got on the way up, especially since the car is rated at 26 MPG Highway. It had about 3,000 miles on it at the time.
!iiiskylll wrote:2.5 S CVT I get about 22-25mpg 60%hwy 40%city. But I speed like a mofo on the freeway so that explains it. I avg around 440 miles per gallon.
See these sound like much more real numbers to me. I keep reading these "24-28 mpg city" and laugh. Maybe their "city" is really super-suberbia where they have 1 stop light in the town, but I live in Brooklyn and commute all over NYC, and this is real "City" driving. Stop lights that constantly stop you every block cuz they're timed, etc...NissanAltimaGuy wrote:19 city if I'm easy on it. I'm usually not so it's about 18.
I've only been on one trip and got 29 highway.
Im in BK also and im feeling the same mpg but i have a 2.5???i drove out to long island this weekend (170 miles) and now im up to about 17 mpg...Sith LL_Coupe wrote:

I get 17-19 City depending on my lead foot which is usually heavy because I can't stand these people who roll all the way through the intersection after a green light and then once they're through finally start to accelerate.
