Top hat for me. You call them up and they actually tell you to shim them with "body washers" Which had to be done because, like some have mentioned the actual bushings are just junk. Side question, does anyone know of a harder one that would fit in the same specs.

I did have to use a chevy 350 transmission mount, that was super stiff, that made is so that the outlet elbow wouldnt bounce off the steering, because of the junk bushings. That fixed the problem. and I just made my downpipe, so know need to fab on the outlet.

The fire wall did need to get massaged a ton. S13 chassis. rb25det II. The top hats are just too thin in my opinion But the design can be easily made thicker, and if anyone can find those puck bushings just nismo stiff, then its a great kit for s13 coupe. Drives like a dream, not *** happy like a sr in a hatch.

this poll should be divided between the engines.. such as 20 and the 25/26.

Since there is going to be alot of users of the skyline xmember /no mount kit among rb20 users than there are Rb25 users.

Better represents the users per mounting method.

I clicked custom because I could not figure out how to add a choice... Anyway, I used LowLifeKustomz mounts. They are based off tophat mounts but come with urathane bushings, the engine sits lower and further back, stock elbow goes right around steering shaft, and with the urathane the engine dosn't move at all with reving.

It took a little longer than I would have liked. I ended up getting the older model of the mounts because I couldn't wait any longer. I needed to start my motor to insure it ran before the warranty was up. So I kept calling Eric at LowLife, and he shipped out the older kit to me.

The mounts are worth it... I have had both Top Hat and the Lowlife kits. Had to modify the turbo elbow on the top hat kit, which made it restrictive. Also the rubber isolaters seemed cheep. I really like the urathane isolators that came with the lowlife kit. You could always do what I did and get him to send you the older kit. Took 4 days to get the kit once I decided to go with the older mounts. I just had to get a custom driveshaft made here at my local fab shop. Although he said he could get one for me. It was just taking too long, for my engine warranty issues.

1989 s13 w/ rb25det and stock s13 crossmember with tophat kit. The top hat kit is junk, I like where it places the engine but, the kit was supposed to be powder coated. Too many that means not that much but to a person in florida, everything rusts here.

Also the transmission member just bent, not thick enough steel, and the mounts as mentioned above the rubber pucks are extremely to soft or squishy. So if anyone knows of harder mounts to put in the top hat kit i think it would actually be a good kit.

Oh and for the transmission mount I just used a chevy 350 super stiff compound mount and then fab'd a mount.

Now it works great. But the guy that makes the kit tells u to go buy fender washers to shimmy the kit in.... "certain" cars. but i had to stack a bunch of them just to get the motor to sit right. And the stiffer transmission mount makes it so that It almost never touches my outlet elbow.

I used Mckinney and they fit perfect, everything cleared without having to mod a thing. Been using them for 2 1/2 years now with no issues.

I am using the lowlifekustomz kit and had no problems fitting anything. My only complaint is with the time it took them to ship.

i also notice that Fullrace is in the process of developing a motor mount kit aswell for the RB's .. Its on their site but i called them up and was told its still in the development stage. still no pricing on them yet. won't be available till next yr .. From my experiences they have allways produced great products.

Those with TOP HAT mounts did you get the new version with the C logo on it? if so how do those hold up vs their earlier one?

pish who needs mounts, a little supa glue works good enough! :D

Custom for sure, allowed me to measure so it was easy for me to work on and also put my engine where it needed to be. I tend to take them off quite often :D

Hello, I am in need of a R33 skyline Xmember. With this crossmember, I should be able to bolt the Engine into the engine bay? Or will I have to modify the hood, i have no problem with, but wanted to know how. Do you think the engine will be mounted too high or too far forward? Does the Downpipe Come in contact with the steering shaft? Those are the problems i gather from you guys using the Xmember by itself.

For use of the Skyline crossmember:

For an RB20 you'll just need a R32 crossmember. Straight bolt in.

For an RB25 you'll need the R33 crossmember we either custom mounts, syko, or drill the mounting holes 1 inch back and one inch down. (Requires some tweaking). IF you don't do either of those options your motor will sit higher and forward causing it to come in contact with the skeleton of your hood in which some just cut out.

Downpipes as well as this information can me found in our stickies up top
