I would have to disagree with you Wes. The SRT-4 is not still a neon. Sure it is a "neon", just as my car is still an Impreza, but the car has balls. And to be honest, the car does embody what is right in the Sport Compact scene. Just my opinions.

the best rice comment ive heard, i had my 240 and my friend had his turbo awd eclipse, mildly tuned, a nice car. so were sitting in the parking lot at school and a kid with his mercury cougar rolls up, and tells my friend that the LED windshield washer nozzles arent rice but the bov on the eclipse was and he should take it off before he gets made fun of...i was in shock for a few minutes and then proceeded to almost collapse from laughter

Yeah, I truly respect the SRT-4. It's about performance for the price, not a plush dashboard or wacky electronic gizmos. True to the muscle car tradition, Dodge took the smallest, lightest platform they had and put a hell of a potent engine in it.

It certainly isn't perfect, but when you ride in one you'll either "get it" or you won't. My first thought when I rode in one was something like "holy **** this Neon has balls the size of grapefruits!".

on this subject someone handed their 240 over to "tuner transformation," that show on speed (there was a thread about it a little while ago). i was on the speed website and they said their "expert tuners" are going to make it a "jdm drift car." im not looking forward to seeing how they ruin the car.

the srt-4 is an amazing car. The only people that dog on it are people that have never driven one. SCC took apart the engine on one, and said it was nearly bullet proof. The car is amazing. Blow it out your butt and get your head out of your ***. It's a fast car. Like or leave it. Don't dog on it.

Wes . Don't go messing with the 2.2l or 2.4l Ecotec 4-cylinder. Those things are built like brick $hit houses. They are GM tested to over 350HP on stock internals. Any higher and you should upgrade the Rods and rings. With 350HP and enough traction, those little cars can stomp all over Unmodified Mustangs, corvettes, and Q45s.

Now, I am by no means a 4-banger supporter. I just think we shouldn't deny those little engines the glory that they deserve.

my little ricer apprentice is always making the bov type of noise with his mouth especially while driving. its so goofy. he is vaguely familiar with how a turbo works. i disassembled a vq30de the other day and asked him to name all the parts. he could only identify the pistons. he also explained once that the integra type r was turbo from the factory but the skyline gtr was faster because it had nitrous. he drives an old saturn with no airbox. it just has a cone filter on the throttle body.

freaky as it sound but this is basically the reaction i got from driving it, i never wanted to do it again. my friends turbo awd eclipse that i mentioned, that gives me a rush, and its the rush from driving that i feed off of. the srt-4 just didnt give me that rush.
