Or maybe, JUST MAYBE, you could actually read the listing and realize that it's not FWD anymore. :slap:

Beat me to it, and if reading is too much maybe he should have just looked at the pics. Amazingly, Nala reinforces his reputation one thread at a time.

The sad thing here is the pile of cash that went into this car and they slap TSW wheels on it. WTF?

I'd rock it if they got rid of that awful paint scheme.

I don't get it, because there is nothing even close to "NASCAR" about that car. It's an import, it looks like one and NASCAR limits it's vehicles all within the same power limit. This is a unibody car, NASCAR is a tube-frame with shell lowered onto it.

Obviously whomever made the article doesn't know a damn thing about cars, so they made up some kind of crap about the only thing in car racing they've ever heard of. I bet a woman made the article..

And, it doesn't even have racing tires like the real thing!
Dave...they weren't building trying to build something to compete in NASCAR. duh.

It's just a novelty Camry with a V8 and a red and white paint scheme like the actual NASCAR counterpart, and made probably to draw attention to Toyota and their NASCAR team, for just for the hell of it.

Do you also whine about the Camaro's Transformers Special Edition for not actually being able to transform and fight evil robots?

People put names to things just for the hell of it. Get over it.

No sh*t, sherlock. But the name "NASCAR" appears so often in the article like some retard couldn't let go of the idea.

Sorry I expressed my opinion, geez. It's ridiculous just like when Nissan calls it a NISMO package and all you get out of the deal is some wheels with a sticker on them and some nicer brakes.

You get a little more out of the NISMO deal, but anyways, I still laugh at you for comparing a road car to a race car and concluding the article was written by a woman.

This is why NAZKAR is a bunch of s***. That is not a Camry, it's a scratch built race car.

NASCAR stands for the National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing.

Back when I used to watch it they were souped up versions of stock cars. The famous saying "Race on Sunday, sell on Monday" alluded to this. in order to qualify to enter their models, the manufacturers had to sell a certain amount of the car and the race car could not deviate a great deal in its race version. If the manufacturers wanted to win they would have to make the base chassis competetive which allowed the regular guy to have fun at the stoplight.

Now the cars on the track share virtually nothing with the production cars so what's the point? If I want to watch pure full body race cars there are so many types of racing out there for that where they actually turn right or blast down dirt roads sideways. Running around in a big circle in a pure one-off car is a waste of my time. If, however, the winning cars were available in a detuned form at my local dealer that's entirely different. In the 80's and back, for a Camry like this to run the track you would be able to buy a V8 RWD Camry at the Toyota dealer. See if anything like that is on the showroom floor. :tisk:

In the chase for money NASCAR lost it's stated reason for being. I understand why they did it, but they lost their very reason to be and turned their name into irony. How very modern America.

Still ugly enough to make my eyes bleed. I could get that much power in a car I actually want to drive for less money. Appeal not found.

You do realize that Toyota participates Nascar, right? The engine in that car is Toyota's NASCAR powerplant. It's also their Craftsman Truck powerplant. Toyota's NASCAR body "is" a Camry. Which is why they kept saying NASCAR over and over again. No, it's not a real NASCAR Camry, but it's got parts from one.

I see. The article was harping on about how it had "as much power as nascar" but didn't actually say in so many words that this is the specific engine, if I read that correctly.

Wow.. nice car!
I'd rock that thing!

But, there is no way they get $400k for it. I could see it going for like $60k maybe. I'm sure they have 1000's of man hours in all the work, but they won't get that out of it. Still.. pretty impressive car!

Perhaps you should read articles before posting them. That's a lotta money for a stealth street legal race car.

Yeah buttface. They do technically race NASCARs with Camry bodies.

Its an obvious resemblence. Its not supposed to be a true street Nascar but a modified Camry inspired by Nascar with the body and motor.

If I recall I think I heard that aunthentic NASCARs cost $400-500,000. Asking that much is rediculous. I think no more that $100,000 is fair enough.

Since you didn't read my reply to him after that, you fail... Also, keep the name calling to a minimum, ok? It's not cool.
