I hear ya. the only thing i'd like to drop an SR in now is an old 510, and thats cause i cant track down an FJ20. Im going either all motor, or KA-T.

I'm gonna start with all motor and if one day I get a bunch of cash i'll do KA-T .... I figure it cant be THAT much more money .... with all the extra stuff you'd have to buy for sr and the legal hassles in the states. ..

because everyone and their grandmother has an SR in their 240 and now they are in an rx7 ugghh,... its just a fad and i'm kinda anti-fad ... i usually dont like popular things... not to mention the legal issues you could run into having it in your car....

it seems that as soon as all the tuner mags came out, everyone was out buying a 240 and dropping an SR in them. this guy i know who has been into muscle cars, who owns a 3rd gen camaro, now wants to pick up a 240 and drop a...take one guess...SR in it. i think im going along the lines of 89240sx, all motor for now, then KA-T. i'll start buying up the parts when i find them for good prices.

also imagine the boost you would get on a KA-T .. ... would be nice....

and how many people have KA-T around? not too many... and it would be a really fun project!

uh, it does come FWD. the SR20DE comes in the G20, SE-R sentras(older), last gen Sentra SEs, NX 2000 and 200sx SE and SE-Rs. the SR20DET comes in the bluebird, pulsar GTiR, and Sunny. there are a few FWD SR20DET cars around. its nothing secret.

"i dont want a sr20 cause EVERYBODY and their momma has one now"

well then why dont you sell your 240 and build a car from scratch, cause there is like 200,000 of em :rolleyes

im not offended, i just think its stupid that people would be so against a engine swap because it appeared in a magazine, which doesnt matter anyways cause i have seen KA-T, SR, and RB25 powered 240s in Sport compact car before.

I didnt mean I did not want it because of a magazine... i dont even look at those magazines.... the only magazines i read are mens health and 2600.

and i think megaseth and he can correct me if i'm wrong just meant that it is turning into a big fad .... like riced hondas...or nike shoes or bell bottoms in the whatever decade they were popular in..

Thanks

Mark

I can understand your wanting to be unique, but nothing involving a KA-T is unique or origional. neither with a SR, RB or CA. Everything you have done and plan on doing has been done to the 240, so why worry about whats popular or how you will be percived by doing something you want to do?

EDIT: isnt it ironic how now that the SR is "rice" that everybody wants a KA-T, which in turn will become more popular?

I see your point and its taken, I think my decision is now going to be more based on the challenge of a KA-T and the actual project of it.

and if i do it and it becomes a fad i'll just have to tell everybody its stock and put a padlock on my hood ;-) j/k

Nope, hit it right on the spot. instead of it being a thing that is something new and cool, its turing into the honda b16 swap. nothing unique anymore. it seems people now adays are just buying 240s to put an SR in it. its not like, "hey thats a 240, but what kinda engine is that, it doesnt look like the KA" its more like "cool, you have a 240, you got an SR or RB in it?"

i see your point J-Spec. like you said, its nothing that hasnt been done before. The one guy with the maroon S14 had a really nice KA-T and guys in Japan have been doing stuff like that for years. but like i said, this new JDM fad has gone from hondas to 240s now and instead of something cool, its just the new fad.

Im not trying to diss the KA-T in any shape or form cause it is a great engine, im just saying that whats popular shouldnt deter you from getting something that is a viable and very practicle way of adding power to your car.

another good point. the KA needs so much more to be up there where it wont blow up. and the SR is just a drop in affair, so-to-speak. im not 100% set on KA-T, buts its more that likely going to be my choice over the SR, we'll just have to see.

Well, if having a SR or KA-T is a fad, I'll be unique and keep my car STOCK!!!!! j/k

Power is power. Why does it matter how it is achieved? I have just as much respect for a 400hp SR as a 400hp KA.

Yep! My roommate took that shot this winter. The best part about going to school in Rochester, NY is it snows every fricken day. Plenty of powder at night after everyone leaves the parking lot. :)
