lets just say youd be better with the teins

however there are better coilovers than the flex's out there for less money

well i know youd agree with me if i said KTS is better than both

now that you mention it i have heard that certain tein's feel much softer than others that are supposed to be similar in rates and everything

Well I dont want a harsh ride, so the Teins might work nice for me.

The KTS' ARE LIKE $300 buck differenace but do they come with front and rear camber plates? I'm pretty sure the fronts do but I dont know if the rears do.

i dont think the teins come with camber plates

the kts you need to buy them, theyre $159

for the rear you dont have camber plates, you have rear upper arms, (RUCA's), which are another $250 or so iirc

remember if you get coilovers to get tires that will be able to at least somewhat make the coilovers worth it, if you dont get pretty grippy tires, you might as well just get a spring/shock combo

youll never really see the full potential of coilovers on the street, so unless youll be tracking the car quite often this would be another reason to get a spring / shock setup instead

Well I was thinking about getting some Falken ZE-512's, long treadlife, good all season tire.

Tein according to Phase2 say they come with pillow mounts. http://www.store.yahoo.com/pha....html

And Tein site say they some with them too. http://www.tein.com/flexdamp.html

Pillow Mounts are the same as camber plates right? If so then the FLEX's are almost a better deal IMO since you dont have to buy camber plates on top of that.

coilovers arent worth it if youre getting 512s

i didnt see the pillowball part, yeah you can adjust with those

still, that makes the KTS ~1250, and the tein 1400, for the same list of parts

kts beats tein in other ways too, quality, you can get new shocks for the price it costs to rebuild teins, good customer service at spl, etc...

On SPL's site the show the camber plates for $150, is that each or for the pair? If its for the pair then yea the KTS' are by far a better deal.

Copied from Phase2."TEIN Type FLEX damper kit was designed to provide driving comfort and sports performance with its full-length 16 way adjustment system. TEIN have incorporated separate height and preload adjustments, which allows you to have various set-ups to meet different road conditions. The FLEX Damper kit includes pillow ball upper mounts and is compatible with the EDFC, for maximum performance for the streets." Right their it says pillow mounts.

Why you think the 512's are not good? What would you go with for a 300 or better treadlife, great wet and dry that I'll be using for daily and some drift? Oh and in 235/45 and under $150 each. I have Yoko ES100's on my vr4 and love em' but the tread wear is like 280 and if I'm going to be doing some drifting I think I'd want something with a little more. What do you have in mind?

well i dont drift, but as far as i know you dont wear the front tires all that much

the rears of course dont matter, theyll be gone so fast

i forgot you wont be using them for grip, in that case its ok, youll be needing to get drift spares anyway...and you wont need tires that can grip enough to use coilovers to their full potential

512s will be fine

and yes that $159 is for the pair of camber plates

Ok, cool. Now I just have to order the wheels.

235/45/17 ze-512's.

KTS' with camber plates and get rid of that freakin wheel gap. I might still go with the Teins becuase of EDFC. That would be really nice to have for the different roads back at home. Just adjust on the fly.

Hey youngman, you should just switch out your wheels when you drift. I used to only use my friends S13 wheels on the rear. and when the tires were done just go buy whatever tires are on sale, like those cheap $30 tires pepboys have. Just my opinion so you won't waste those 512's so fast. I can burn through a set of tires completely bald in like 2 events so you might want to reconsider your set for sliding

Well in time I hope to get 6 good drift wheels and tires for when I go drifting. But the money that I'd use for that are going toward coil-overs.

EDFC would be nice but the thing is how many time am I really going to use it? I know I'd just leave it at a pretty soft setting for daily and then for track just find something I like for that. But the a mount of time that I'd be using the EDFC make the $350 a waste in my opinion.

I'm 80% sure I'm going to get the KTS' becuase after thinking about it a little it doesn't have to be super soft, if I want that I'll take out my vr-4 for that. I want a daily driven track car, not a mid perforeing soft car right?

remember having kts doesnt mean you cant adjust, it just means you cant adjust from inside the car as your drive, all you have to do is pop the hood and change them from the top mounts

set it on a softer setting for the street, then when you get to the track turn it up and play around with the setting in between runs

i cant see you worrying about changing your shock settings in the middle of a run anyway

Thats what I think.

I just emailed upgrade motoring on how long it might take to get the wheel in, they said they have 2 in stock and the other 2 would have to be on special order from Japan which will take up to 3 months to get here. So I emailed another place to see if they have 4 of them ready to go and if not then I'll buy 2 from them and 2 from upgrade. The other place is vividracing.com I searched but I couldn't find any where that sell 17x8 +27 4 lug 57pros, only upgrade and vivid are the ones I could find.

Well it matters which wheel your talking, for FN's silver, for 57pros gold. The other color for 57pros is a silver gray but I think I like the gold better.

Well you guys are going to screem but plans have majorly changed. I called the only two place I could find that sell the 17x8 +27 and their are only 2 in the USA!!! The other 2 would have to be on special order for up to 3 months on avg. So I started thinking, before Chris had I'd get 17x8 +35 upless I could get the +27. So I came up with a pretty good plan. Dont freak, I'm going to get some FN's in 17x8 +35 in silver, put some 235/45's on them and it looks like I'll have to roll the fender and I doubt the 235's will clear coil-overs so run a 8mm spacer (would make it +27) the because of the spacer I would have to roll the fenders. So this will get me just about the same fitment as the 57pro's.

Now dont you go off thinking thats all, later this year, maybe in the fall, I'll buy the 57pro's. I'll then use the FN's as drift wheel.

I would maybe get 17x9 +20 FN's but I'm not for two reasons. First, I want a light colored wheel such as the gold 57pro's or silver FN's. Right now the only color you can get 17x9 +20 is everything but silver, the bronze is just to dark for me I think and I dont really like the hyperblacks that much. Second, Now that I've done some research I dont think a 9" wheel will benfit at all, maybe do more bad then good for me. I'd have to pull the fenders to fit tire size I would want (245/40). So with all that I think 8" would be best for me for the performance I'm looking for.

But dont worry, 57pro's are coming, just a little later
