I would be posting this question in a DSM forum, but they all have a probationary period and I wouldn't be able to ask for about another week Plus I searched them all and can't find an answer, and I know that 1G DSM blow-off valves are a popular solution for a lot of SR 240 owners so maybe someone would have an answer for me here.

I bought a used solid steel hotpipe for my S13 SR, for a good price; it already has a wastegate nipple and a BOV flange on it. It's flanged for a GReddy type S. I was going to spend the money on a GReddy type S, but I'm on a budget and I'm only going to be running stock boost, so I could probably do with something simpler (like a 1G DSM valve). Looking at the flanges for the type S and the DSM valve, they're very similar. I'd need to file down the "ears" on the DSM valve and drill two more holes, closer to the valve itself.

Has anyone done anything like this, or know if it can be done?

yes, it can be done,

the factory valve should suit you fine, if you do run into leaking issues due to too much boost, you can drill a hole in the top of the diaphragm, then disassemble it, replace the factory spring with one from a 180 degree Honda thermostat, and add a washer and nut and bolt through the whole. Now your el cheapo BOV is adjustable.

Good to know, thank you =D

I ordered a steel DSM BOV flange for less than $10 shipped. I think I'm going to do the following, so that if I screw anything up, it won't be the valve itself:

-Drill 2 holes into the flange, possibly widening the opening so the screws could go in and sit flush with the surface of the flange-Get a sheet of gasket material, and cut out a gasket to go between GReddy flange and DSM flange-Bolt DSM flange to GReddy flange-Cut out a DSM BOV gasket-Bolt DSM BOV on top

I could just have a shop cut off the GReddy flange and weld on the DSM, but the above procedure would save me some $$$ =D
