Engines are identifiable by the serial number. Many major body parts are tagged by the OE with the VIN# of the car it is put on. If they were lame enough to leave it on, it would very easily show there could be a stolen part (VIN# on the part matches a stolen car's VIN#). On the other hand, taking the tag off might also be seen as a red flag as well. Especially if it appears to have been a factory painted part (as opposed to having signs that it was painted at a body shop).Dittoz7 wrote:Edit: Plus How Do They Know Whats Stolen?Does It Have The Victims, If Stolen And Found Please Return. you'll get a ticket for stupidity long before you get a ticket for car modifications.

It's good to hear that they are doing something about theft!rn79870 wrote:Twenty vehicles were even impounded due to suspected stolen parts.
Well...They didn't really bust anyone for the meet...they busted them for having stuff that was illegal. So yeah, its now illegal to break the law, your being oppressed.1unar3clipse wrote:so..... no more freedom of assembly?

The one thing I noticed about South Carolina is their signs that warn how everything is punishable with a fine AND jail time. Indiana is an 'OR' thing. Not knocking the great State of South Carolina, just always found that interesting.frapjap wrote:Do you have a link by chance? I'd like to see the whole article. Not many of the #2 happening out here in San Diego. Maybe up north in Orange County/Riverside/LA area. As for #3, State's broke ya know? They need all the revenue they can get.ddgsxr504 wrote:The So Cal Police (San Diego/Riverside/Los Angeles ect) have been cracking down on illegal mods since 2000/2001. A. You are new to the scene and just learning about itB. All the drifter/street racers douches are causing accidents/fatalities which are making the cops have to crack down harderC. Their budget is getting bigger enabling them to enforce policy more efficiently.
The reason for a huge reduction in #2's in SD is because they pretty much nipped that ish in the bud back in '01/'02 when SD streetracing was at it's peak down in MiraMesa and other big areas, after 100's of citations and car impounds people pretty much got the idea. Riverside is slowly catching up to where we were in SD like 4 years ago, LA has been and will continue to be the big city left in street racing because of how big the city is and how many people they have. Basically there aren't enough cops to crack down on it completely.JustinStrife wrote:Not many of the #2 happening out here in San Diego. Maybe up north in Orange County/Riverside/LA area. Cops are known to pull imports over though for no reason(i.e. profiling). Ask me how I know.
Makes sense about 01'/02'. That was right after my Mustang friend got out of the race scene(he rocked a 5.0 foxbody with 600hp from 93 till like 99'). I'd heard some idiots made the Fuzion meet cop infested for awhile, though I don't know if that's died down or not as I haven't been there in about 10 months.ddgsxr504 wrote:

As for profiling, I believe it 100%, luckily my car is registered out of state so I don't ever get f*cked with.
How do you know?JustinStrife wrote:Cops are known to pull imports over though for no reason(i.e. profiling). Ask me how I know.
unknown to the rest of the country, south carolina is a lot like texas. they have stiffer penalties and their own set of laws for damn near everything.Cold_Zero wrote:

Been pulled over THREE times in the S13 a mile from where I keep it(as country as San Diego can get). Usually they're going the opposite direction as me, I'm following somebody else doing the speed limit, they flip a bit#$ and pull me over to check my paperwork. Haven't asked to pop open the hood yet.Felipe wrote:

Cuz they are hypocrits. sp?JustinStrife wrote:Unless I'm speeding, they don't even bat an eye at the corvette. Even with the supercharger whistling away.
It's because, for whatever reason, cops don't equate Corvettes with street racing, which is funny, because many of the Corvette owners I know are on it every other stoplight, lol.JustinStrife wrote:Unless I'm speeding, they don't even bat an eye at the corvette.
