It's because, for whatever reason, cops don't equate Corvettes with street racing, which is funny, because many of the Corvette owners I know are on it every other stoplight, lol.
Srsly. And what's w/ lifted trucks that a regular passenger car could drive under? That's okay in my state, even though on the books it's actually illegal to do that.

Its kinda ****ed up...but I almost agree with it.

I see it as an example of having blanket rules, and choosing when to enforce them...

We just get a bad rap because so many of the little import ricer kids really are out there being stupid enough to need to be stopped...

Its kinda like hitting the mafia boss on 10 counts of tax evation.

You see an old guy in a porsche, vette, whatever getting on it a little bit and ehhh what ever. Some doctor who has been driving for 50 years saw an opening in traffic and wanted to play...Its a sports car what is "safe" is a bit faster then an SUV

VS some kid in the POS civic with a kid who has been driving for 2 years trying to thread the needle through traffic at 90 while taking a picture of the speedo to post online for e-rep.

Sucks for us, but I blame the kids more then the cops. Its a valid and good choice for them to pull over modified looking cars...

And finally: while I support illegal modifications...It is illegal. Its not really unfair that the cop gave you a ticket for braking the law.

HUH? 50 cops got overtime to bust people for having car parts, I wonder how many people got murdered/raped/robbed that day. Good to see they got their priorities straight.

Yeah...that seems a bit...

HOWEVERI really doubt rape and murder statistics went up for that one day (yeah, I know those statics don't exist to check...)You say your self they were paid overtime, Thats because instead of going home, 50 extra cops stayed on to do this bust. How many cops where at the bust? Most of those weren't cops that would have been stopping a rape...they were cops who would have been off duty at the bar.

Its a big chunk of tax payer money for sure, so legitimate criticisms there...But its bigger picture. As quite a few people have mentioned in this thread...These crack downs worked very well to cut down accidents and incidences of street racing in other areas.

So the money we spend now is significant...but the money we spend sending ambulances to street racing accidents, the money we spend repairing what ever the kid wrecked his car against, the money we spend launching 100 more smaller scale ineffective programs....Does this balance out?

This has been on every auto message board...people in the thread are talking about how its best not to mess around...Its all been pretty effective, has gotten the point across and the word around better then any ad campaign could, and possibly costs less?

Again it does suck for us legitimate and responsible enthusiasts...But how many went to that socal meet in oxnard? TONS of modified cars...No one gave as much as a second glance...It was a responsible meet in a reserved place....

Arrest every little ricer showing up to THOSE "meets" for all I care.

I'm gonna ask what you have against lifted trucks? there a lot safer than a sports car, and if the driver is a good driver I see no problems.

on a note about trucks i think its funny how we import drivers can get fined for exhaust or swaping a non factory engine, yet there are pickups driving around with smoke stacks

Because that was where most of the "Car guys" would meet when I was in highschool, and every time I've driven by this type of meet it was senior year, or just out of high school kids.

Im sure they didnt go up, but they did not go down, the resources come down to being more than money, They have priorities on hasseling car guys while people kill people without punishment. And dont tell me it doesnt happen because in 2007 murders in MN hit a record High. I see less cops in problem areas and more cops in the suburbs.
