Missing coolant in coolant reservoir

I poured in coolant into my coolant reservoir yesterday. But after 30 min of driving, the coolant in the reservoir is all gone. The meter didn't show that my 1993 240SX is overheating.

Could the problem be that I didn't open air relief plug when I flush and refill the coolant? Or the water pump is leaking?

i have been having the same problem with my '93. i realized my coolant reservoir was leaking from the bottom and i bought a new one from autozone today. Im going to install it in a few minutes and see if that was the only problem.

Keep an eye on your coolant level, if it keeps disappearing, start looking for leaks.

or if there are no leaks then mayb your radiator sucked it up and used it... that is what its there for.

Two months ago, my friend and I completely drain the old coolant, and flushed the coolant system with home water hose. And then, we refilled the new coolant. However, when we flushed and refilled the coolant, we didn't open the air relief plug. So I didn't bleed my coolant system properly.

And then about one month ago, my car overheated in a very hot day. I checked the coolant reservoir. It was empty, so I filled in with drinking water. After that, my car has no overheating issue. However, whenever I refilled the coolant reservoir, the coolant in the coolant reservoir would be emptied after about 30min of driving.

The things that are strange are:

1) The meter shows no overheating. The needle stays in the the middle between "H" and "C".2) There is no coolant can be found under my car.

My real question is: Where did the coolant go?

So this could be the following problems:

1) I didn't bleed the coolant system properly. Then, why no overheating but missing coolant in the coolant reservoir?2) The coolant reservoir is cracked, so it's leaking slowly. Or some coolant hose is leaking slowly.3) The coolant fan is leaking or not functioning properly?

You could be leaking it into the combustion chamber and burning it off.

I found the coolant leak. I want to confirm that I need to replace the water pump. If yes, I will follow the guides.

If it's the water pump it'll drip out the bottom of the pump. When the cars running you should be able to see it dripping. At least that was how it was on mine. It's easy to change the water pump. Just watch out for your fan shroud.

As far as the rattling sound goes just pull you valve cover off and take a look at the top guide. Valve covers are easy to remove. Remove the guide. Hopefully it's just the top one and not the bottom one. If it's the bottom one your in for a ride.

I just saw your video... Yep that looks like the water pump.

That sounds more than just your upper guide. I just rebuilt my engine and It used to sound that bad. Now the loudest thing on there are the injectors.

Sorry of the noob question, what are the two lower right pulleys for?

the bottom pulley is the crank pulley, it essentially turns everything else. the one above that is the water pump pulley. and to the right of that is the power steering pump.

yes, you answered your own ? = AC pulley

& that smaller, shiny one looks to be an idler pulley between the ac <-> and the main crank pulley (for adjusting the tension)

I finished replacing the water pump yesterday. I didn't see any more leak, but I will check again tonight.

I still hear the rattling noise. I think it is the chaining guide.

Is the coolant bleeder screw (air relief plug?) located in the same place on the S14 SR20 as it is on the KA24?. My bottom radiator hose came off and I overheated and I wanna make sure all of the coolant is out before I add more to it.
