Thanks. :)

There was an old warehouse too... with an unidentifiable Nissan/Datsun inside. Those pics will come tomorrow.

Otto, I can't wait til you get a better camera (not a knock on what you currently use) so you can take pics in even more obscure and less opportune locations.

If we only lived closer to each other. I'd let you borrow my D70s anytime you wanted.

That would be so awesome.

I didn't even know that you had a DSLR until the Carlisle threads.

Yeah, pretty sure I made it clear that I don't know how to use it that well either. There is so much you can do to adjust the photo and I just haven't used it enough. But, in your hands, I'm sure you could come up with some absurd pictures. I had a friend at my last job who had a brother who was a semi-pro photographer. He would occasionally get to use his brother's 200-400 VR Nikon lens. If only someone would let me test out a $6k lens just to see what it is like. But, he also carried a 14mm Nikon prime which I would LOVE to see what you could do with (again, another roughly $1600 I can't afford).

Lenses are so expensive. :\

When I finally get my D90 or whatever, I want to get the Nikon 50mm f/1.4 (GREAT cheap wide angle from what I have read) and the Nikon 18-200mm. If I want to zoom really far, I will still have my SX10. 20X zoom. With digital zoom it can go up to 80X but the image would probably be so grainy at that point, that there would be no use for it.

Wow, this got super photographer nerdy. And I'm ok with it. I've got the 18-55 kit lens and a sigma 55-200 (I think the wide end is 55, too lazy to check right now). I bought the 18-200 VR, but sold it shortly thereafter (I already had the sigma). The 18-200 is a solid lens, and a killer deal for the price. I sold mine when it was still new and rare, so I recovered my costs. Now, I kinda wish I didn't dump the 18-200. I don't know that I need anything longer than 200mm for what I do, but it would be nice to not have to change lenses to get that wide. When you get closer to buying a camera, let me know. I'll see if there is some way I can loan you one or both of my lenses so you can test the range and wideness before purchasing something of your own.

And turn off that digital zoom garbage. You can do all of that in post processing.

Nerdy photography talk is almost never bad.

To a previous post of yours: The Nikon 14mm Prime looks gorgeous. I love wide angle lenses.

That is a very generous offer. I might take you up on it if I don't buy the lenses right away with the body. I would love to test out some different glass before I make up my mind.

About the digital zoom, yeah... I never use it. It's good to have though if you ever want to zoom that far. I have only used it like... twice in the past year and a half I have had this camera.

The glass is expensive. it can be problematic once you buy lenses since you're basically confining yourself to that camera brand for a long time (I'm happy with the Nikon, so not a problem thus far). Actually, when you get close to buying let me see if there is a way I can loan you the camera and lenses for a short while. I'm not keen on shipping them, so we'll have to find a better way. I'd be all for it, and it would let you get a chance to test out the features of the body which will end up being much more important in your decision than the glass. If you spend money on good lenses, the body can always be updated at a later point (but the features a given brand emphasizes will generally remain the same).

Yeah. I love Nikon for DSLR's and that doesn't seem to be changing. I prefer Canon for Point and Shoot's though.

That would be great to test out some gear in the field. You're so generous.

Last camera-nerd post for the night. I would definitely agree on the PnS side. I'm actually thinking about picking up a Canon SD4000IS to replace my aging SD800IS. I didn't take the best care of it, and it's starting to show signs of wear from the abuse. I baby the DSLR, so the Canon is my bar/party/wherever camera. It gets beat on pretty hard. Odd that we have such similar taste in cameras though...
