Hello,Given how few Y34 M's are out there, I thought it might be cool to see how many miles are on everybody's M. It will also be good to see how members 2nd generation M35's and M45's are holding up as well. I also believe that the VK45 is unfairly maligned by many on NICO and think this might help show that this engine is more durable than many might believe. This might also be helpful to prospective owners as well. So, if people would, please post your mileage and post any issues you might have had.

As for mine, my 2004 M45 is currently showing 36,000 miles on the odometer. Mechanically, there have been no repairs to date. Oil consumption has been a non issue. I have had the shift knob and steering wheel replaced under warranty due to the knob turing green and the steering wheel starting to peel on the top. The car is totally stock with the exception of Huper Optik 30 all around.

Cheers and Thanx,ML

Just turned 25K on my 04. Checked the oil this morning and according to the dipstick, there hasn't been any noticeable consumption. I've only had the car for 3K miles but no issues since I bought it in May. Love the way it looks, drives, and turns heads.

Awesome. Thank you for the reply. That is very low mileage. Props. I believe Manok has a very low mileage 2004 as well. Is your car equipped with the Technology Package? It seems that a higher percentage of 2004's came fully optioned than 2003 models. When I looked for 2004's, I do not think I found one not equipped with Navigation, ICC, etc... I found very few 2003's that were so equipped. But really, it was the CD changer location that made me eventually seek out only 2004's.Cheers,ML

Yep, fully loaded with the exception of bird's eye maple interior. I have a green shifter knob though...this is a defect that can be replaced under the warranty (I purchased the Elite extended warranty so I'm covered to 04/13 or 92K miles, whichever comes first)?

Nice. I too use Mobil 1. I simply buy it at Pep Boys and bring it to the dealer. Costs $50.00 and includes a decent car wash.Cheers,M.L

2003 56k miles all options but nav.

I have the trunk problem and the gas indicator problem, I'll get around to fixing them eventually. The car does not have the oil consumption problem.

I see lots and lots of cars in my profession and will say the finishes of this car are holding up extremely well. My chrome door handles and chrome mouldings still look factory fresh, the interior finishes also still look mint.

I have a 2003 M45. Bought new in September of 2003 - date of manufacturer is Dec 2002. Currently has about 66.5k miles on it. Running perfectly fine!

Has had three occasions where carbon build-up caused rattling in the engine. Fixed with BG-44K and once with the Nissan equivalent. The most recent minor problem has been that the weather stripping down the front edge of the left rear door needs replacing - have to special order that part at the dealer - should be covered by warranty.

Since 10k miles or so, I have run Mobil 1 Synthetic 0W-40 in it - oil and filter changed every 3750 miles. I add about 1/4 to 1/3 quart - very rarely 1/2 qt - to bring it above the mid-point between L and H, about halfway between the oil changes at about the 1750 to 1850 mile mark.

Has had transmission flushes, once at <10k miles and then 30k and 60k miles, brake fluid and coolant replaced every two or so years, power steering flushed every 30k miles, cooling fan fluid replaced once at 10k miles (need to do it again soon), differential fluid replaced at <10k mile and once since then (forget when - so need to do that again soon too). Tires replaced approximately 20k miles or so.

Year- 2003Miles-59,600

oil- Mobil 1 I add about 1/3 to 1/2 quart between oil changes. I drive a 100 mile commute to work every day so i believe the adding of the extra oil is justifiable. Issues- VDC module got fried covered under warranty. Exhaust weld issue. Gas gauge problem seems to be working fine now, passenger and rear passenger window wouldn't go up; was able to fix the problem my self.

Overall evaluation, i love my M especially for its ponies and unique body style.

I have an '04 with 62,xxx miles. I had the gas gauge issue, covered under warranty. I must be one of the few 04's without Navigation or ICC.

Just rolled over to 89000 this weekend..still gets me howling at full throttle

No oil consumption, been running synth blend since day 1. Got the squeaky drivers seat and rattle in the back (parcel shelf) that I keep *meaning* to get to, if my other cars would quit breaking..

btw, I have *never* put this many miles on any of my cars in this short a time..sometimes wonder if my odo is reading Km or something, hahaaa

Max, glad your car has been mechanically sound. Unfortunately, rattles seem to be a byproduct of the stiff suspension tuning from the factory. I remember reading the Infiniti engineers stating the car is at the bleeding edge of acceptable ride quality. I suppose this might be indicative of placing a much higher horsepower powerplant in a car that originally offered a good bit less powerful turbocharged V6 as the most powerful engine option. Over rough pavement, I sometimes hear rattles from the rear view mirror and the dash.Cheers,ML

2003, Black on black, got it with 96000 mi 3 months ago, now almost at 100,000. Within the past month, replaced the plugs, fuel filter, KN air filter, oil, PCV valve, license plate bracket, new tires. Recently fixed the squeak on driver seat, thanks to cakedaddy. This is the first used car I've ever bought. Love it...

Nice. I believe you are one of the few Y34 owners at or near 100,000 miles. I have seen some 2002-2003 Q45's on Autotrader with 170,000 miles+. Really is reassuring to hear the engine holding up so well.

Awesome. I am getting more and more convinced that 2004 M's came fully optioned more often than not. The Elite Warranty rocks.Cheers,ML

32k miles and no mechanical problems at all.Using dino oil, thinking maybe too late to change to synth now.

transmission flush and fill at 30k service

1 raccoon + 85mph = $1,400 front end repair (ouch!)

Overall has been a great car so far. No regrets..... even if it is a thirsty beast!

2003 Black on Black. Car has 59k on her. Had airbag module and fuel gauge issue fixed outside of warranty for free. They also fixed the trunk pop issue. Other then that no other issues. Bringing her in for the 60k sometime next month. Other then that all is well!

Oh, yeah! I forgot I had that issue too - they replaced both the struts and all is well since then.
